we had a yamaha Z11 before and had a hard time getting a part so we bought this. Pretty amazing although it does not come with a manual, we ordered one on ebay. You can do the manual on the tv but you have to keep going back and redoing things. A manual is better. This machine does about everything. Best Buy shipped promptly and came perfect.

The Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A receiver is probably the ultimate receiver for those who want crystal clear sound as well as video. Capable of driving many speakers to produce surround sound and DSP. I had older Yamaha receiver but this is the ultimate! Enjoy David

I have wanted to buy the Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 150@ 11.2-Channel AV receiver for awhile and finally got it. It is a fine piece of equipment that has made my home stereo even better!

We like the direct mode best for all our movies, bot hardcopy and streaming. The voices, music and sounds are clearest. The small window doesn’t matter to us

Once set up and calibrated I kept this AVR hooked up for less than hour. The video upscaling had too much contrast and faces especially in live events were distorted by contrast and dark color saturation. The sound wasn’t much better - it needed help from the EQ and DSP - without them it sounded flat with no lows but the mids and highs were boosted. I immediately ordered the Marantz 8015. The Marantz just blew this Yamaha away. Right out of the box the Marantz sound and upscaling are amazing. So good I disconnected my exterior amp powering my front channel because it can properly power my front channel whereas the Yamaha failed miserably. When I initially hooked it up I went to change it from the EQ to Pure Direct but it was on PD mode with no EQ - beyond impressed with the Marantaz. As for Yamaha it’s too bad the A8 didn’t perform as well as it looks Yamaha should be embarrassed.

Went to the Best Buy store in Bradenton because St Pete does not have one in stock to listen to it and the sales personnel and Bradenton said if I was you I would not get this so after listening to it and playing with it for almost an hour and a half I decided I did not want it so I never got to pick it up I let them have it back before I ever got it but it did not match up to the Denon quality and Marantz quality that I had prior in my opinion Yamaha is lacking and a bunch of different ways thanks for stopping by and checking out this review thank you Bradenton Best Buy for showing me because St Pete Personnel they don't care

Didn't meet expecataions. Could not play music input from TV on zone 2&3 speakers

H huge upgrade from my RX- 3040. The DACs sound so much better. The ease of use with the app and exceptional web based control is a welcome change to what came before. You can hear that the amps are greatly inproved.
