A close lightning strike took a channel out of our older Yamaha receiver in the bedroom. It was a good one for several years. Looked at this one for some time and finally decided on it. We've owned a Yamaha RXV-2700 receiver since the year it came out for our system in the living room. Several years ago too now. This thing has been on almost every day since we purchased it. Love it. Never a single problem and sounds fantastic with Klipsch Chorus II's , Klipsch Academy center, Klipsch KG2.5 rears. Hsu sub up front and a Klipsch sub near field under end table at couch too. Will always stick with Yamaha. This new receiver for our bedroom is pretty powerful too. Great sounding as expected. And at this price! Just need a better surge protector now..

Best Buy had this receiver on sale so I decided to buy it because I wanted to upgrade my 15 year old Sony. The reason I wanted to upgrade was to add Bluetooth connectivity and USB options, what I didn't expect is how much BETTER this receiver sounds than the Sony, it sounds fantastic! I highly recommend, and will likely upgrade my Onkyo AV system to a Yamaha soon! I love it!

Easy setup, room for wired speaker connections was sufficient, nice to be able to input four HDMI to a single TV HDMI connection. Decent sound quality, surround works well.

Your typical well designed and manufactured Yamaha product. I've had many Yamaha receivers and products over 40+ years and they never disappoint. We replaced an older receiver, so we would have the A/V feature with our Sony 75" set. Drives our Klipsch speakers well. The remote and panel controls are quite easy to learn. The on screen controls and menus are easy to use is that is what one wants to use.
This was one of the few A/V receivers that had both a AM and FM tuners at this price point. Great capture with a minimal FM dipole. AM capture was fine with the provide Loop antenna. We use most straight through on the audio and video. Great home theater experience.

I was looking to upgrade my 10 year old + HK receiver and the choice was between this receiver and another brand receiver. I read the reviews on this one and reviewed the specs and my only concern was that on the negative reviews it was mentioned that this receiver ran extremely hot and due to the heat would stop working. I have been using this receiver for a month now and it runs cool, it does not get hot as others have claimed. The setup was easy, the sound is great and using it is just as easy. I would recommend this receiver to someone looking for a great budget AVR.

This receiver is great start for anyone new to using a good quality sound system. Your able to connect sound using an HDMI cable which is the best way to use it. Easy to use and very powerful sound.

This receiver is very good. Nice balanced sound and it was just what I needed and nothing I didn't. I didn't need a super-duper home theater experience - just a way to run program sound to my stereo speakers and subwoofer. My purchase was prompted because my great but ancient Onkyo receiver did not have HDMI inputs
Set up was frustrating. Once everything was hooked up, the sound from the AM/FM receiver worked fine and sounded great, but there was no sound or video from the HDMI sources, even though they were connected properly. Some menu information from the sources even displayed on the television screen, but no audio or video programming content was available. All HDMI cords were new premium quality rated for HDMI 2.1 and 8K. Apparently, it may take time or repeated connections and disconnections before the receiver and an HDMI source perform a "handshake" to link properly. Once the "handshakes" took place, sources ran properly, including the pass-through from my cable box to the television when the receiver is off.
Receivers have grown. This one is both wider and taller than older models. I had to remove the door including the brackets from the AV space under my television in order to fit the receiver with no room to spare, and at this time I have left the door off for better cooling. If you have older AV furniture, measure the space before you purchase.

I got this to complete a surround sound system in a home I purchased, and it was easy to set up, and provides great sound, with options for over air radio, or hooking up bluetooth.

Replaced a 20 year old Yamaha amp and this thing ROCKS ! More features and really like how you can shape the sound to your particular room via the distance of each speaker and the individual volume settings. Highly recommend Yamaha amps.

Great 5.1 receiver for the price. I run Thunder pro 2's on the rear and audio acoustic 500 watt 3 way speakers on the front and center and am not able to turn up past half way before my whole house is full of sound. Low budget concert at less than $600 for receiver AND speakers ...it's a set up that can't be beat for the money and highly recommend you try or any comparable speaker set up you wish. You will not be displeased. The receiver is easy to use and hook up. O, and by the way...with this set up and for my purposes....I do not need a subwoofer. The clarity is rich and the music is as a live concert.

The center channel went out on my old AVR from 1996 and I wanted a basic surround sound system. Though I have never owned one, I've always trusted the Yamaha brand and was not disappointed. It turns out the Cinema DSP sound field effects, something I thought was going to be "gimmicky," is a game changer!
The Owner's Manual stinks, but the YPAO microphone makes optimizing the soundfield a snap.
If you are looking for a budget/basic surround system for a small to medium sized space, the RX-V385 is for you.

I was weary of this product due to some negative remarks I read here, but I think mostly those remarks had less to do with the actual amplifier and more to do with service. That being said, I bought this because it fit my price range and criteria for capabilities. I have not been disappointed at all by this Amp. The Bluetooth connectivity wasn't intuitive so I actually had to read the directions to get it to sync but experienced no issues once it was. The sound is great and it works well. The HDMI ports were tight (as they should be) and the remote is easy to function. I give this Amp a two thumbs up.
