Got this because I needed a new receiver with HDMI. This does 4k 60hz. The main reason I got it is for my new PS5 coming in a few days. The PS5 can actually do 4k 120hz, or 8K, but since my TV is only 4k60, this receiver was totally fine. Anyways, it has been great. High quality build, lots of setting, sounds great, volume shows on TV screen (small in the corner). I am currently using the setting called 5.1 Stereo, which forces the left and right channels to play out of the surround speakers as well. If you have it on normal surround setting, only the front speakers will play until you play something with actual surround mixing. YouTube for example does not support this, so I generally just keep it on the 5.1 Stereo setting unless I'm watching a BluRay or playing a video game that has been mixed for surround. It took about 20 minutes to set up. Have had 0 problems and def recommend, especially for the killer price.

Really good receiver for the price. I don’t have a whole house sound system so didn’t need to buy more than was needed and this one is great for the 3 speaker system I have. I only wish that the manual would’ve told us we needed a different HDMI cable in order to use only one remote vs one for TV cable and one for receiver.

My Denon for my TV sound system died after 10 years and it was time to get a new receiver. I only needed a 5.1 system and this Yamaha fit the bill very nicely. Inputs for my DirecTV, Apple TV, and Blue Ray. Easy to rename all the input sources to match those names. Slight difficulty in establishing sound options by source type but after an hour of plunking around figured out how to do it. Nice unit pushing clean sound. WiFi available but haven't used it yet. It's a keeper.

Very powerful unit. Has many settings, some of which I don't fully understand. On my desired setting sound is very clear and music is reproduced very well. Has many inputs and accommodates all of my needs and devices.

Product has fabulous sound. One quirky thing with my setup is that I cannot get my cable tv to play when hitting the TV quick button on the remote. I have everything set up correctly, but I have to use the HDMI 2 input. The TV button play nothing. All the other lighting/quick buttons work properly. But I am keeping the unit because the sound is excellent for the value.

I've been a fan of Yamaha for many years, guitars, keyboards, electronics... This amp is no exception. It's simple, user friendly, and the bass tones coming through my sub are full and deep! It has plenty of inputs as well. I would ask for a couple more old school RCA inputs if there was anything I can think of that I would want to change, I still use cassette decks, and a feed from my computer that is analog. But I was able to connect everything I wanted, but I have used all the analog inputs.

This Yamaha home theater system is quite a step up from my last system. The sound quality is excellent. All of my other devices (Roku, DVD, etc) are easily accessed through the receiver. I'm still trying to get it to sync with my new LG tv. It powers on with the tv but I have to turn it off then back on for the sound to work. Most likely user error though. It also receives several more radio stations than my last unit did on FM.

I am amazed at the capabilities of this machine! The setup microphone supplied with the unit is simply brilliant, making setup a breeze. I have been a Yamaha fan for decades, literally. Every single product I have owned with the Yamaha name on it has been excellent, from electronics to motorcycles.

I needed an upgrade/replacement for my old receiver (which was over 15 years old and finally gave out.) This one is great for the price, was easy to set up and gets the job done for my basement TV and speakers. Happy with my purchase and would buy another one if i ever needed for a different TV in another room of the house.

I have two perfectly good Yamaha receivers but needed to replace one due to hdcp 2.2 to go with our new 4k tv. Everything works as it should. I like the old remote better because you could pick the hdmi directly as opposed to scrolling up or down. I did program the colored buttons so this helps. I had a Sony for 15 years but the reliability does not appear to be the same for the newer receivers. I had two Denons and they had issues in a relatively short period of time but of course outside of warranty. I have not owned the high end units so I cannot attest to their reliability. For me the Yamahas have been the most reliable receivers for under $500. Fine the manual online. It helps tremendously when setting up this device with your tv.

I saw this in the Open Box section of my local Best Buy. It was just the receiver with nothing else. No box, remote, etc. I have another similar receiver at home and that remote works for this on as well. Plus my TV can control the volume. I gave it to my kids to use with their xbox. It sounds great and has better features than the one my wife and I use. I may steal this one from them and give them the old one.
