Great entry level receiver for 4K 120Hz VRR
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this doesnt get the full HDMI bandwidth as the others, like its bigger brother RX-V6A, it's definitely and upgrade if you're coming from the RX-385 like I did.

Great Receiver!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was forced to upgrade my 1 year old Yamaha receiver due to a speaker incompatibility which both Best Buy and Yamaha stood behind with the service plan. While I was not initially happy with the 2020 receiver being discontinued and having to change to the 2021 (as I had become accustomed to and familiar with the other), that quickly changed once I had the system installed. It's more intuitive than the previous model and still has all the same great features plus a few more. Kudos Yamaha! Great product!

Disappointing - Can't be a Yamaha product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a lifelong Yamaha consumer owning over the years dozens of various pieces of audio and video Yamaha equipment. This unit was purchased to replace an existing 10 year old Yamaha AV in a home theater setup. From the moment I turned the unit on it was a disaster. HDMI CEC errors, buggy with complete loss of video and audio. The HDMI eARC was again buggy, the software update process happened without warning, then the unit was acting erratically and was unusable. Reset of the hardware was performed, unit looked to work okay, then every issue it had returned. Listening to audio worked however the sound was very thin and lifeless. Then I did some reading online about these products from Yamaha. Oh dear. The entire unit looked cheap, had no mass to it, the display and buttons were also very poor, junky looking. The sound was very lacking in general. SO I put my original 10 year old Yamaha AV receiver back into service and the first you notice is the sound. It sounds MUCH better and it WORKS flawlessly. All the HDMI CEC functions work perfectly without delay or flaw. Yamaha has maybe taken a turn with new 'innovative' products like this one, designed by someone who is likely new to the industry without any understanding of the Yamaha brand. Yamaha should be ashamed to approve a poor product like this one for sale. It should be replaced with something that works and at least provides stability.
