No owner’s manual makes it difficult to set up everything. There is a quick user’s guide, but it provides limited information.

This thing was great for about 6 month and then I started having problems. My HDMI devices would sporadically not work through the HDMI out. I tried all the troubleshooting and even thought it might be my Xbox or TV….nope. Hours troubleshooting them revealed the true culprit - this POC. Look up reviews regarding HDMI issues before buying - highly recommend a different brand.

    Great Receiver But Stopped Working

Worked great for 4 days. On the 5th day, it "popped" when I powered it on that that was all she wrote. Too bad as it's a nice receiver but Best Buy doesn't have any that I can replace it with. IF it weren't for this, I'd rate it 4 or 5 stars.

e-Arc capability was unreliable at best. Kept going in and out when connected to TVs. Attempted on multiple sets. Purchased in February so unfortunately I cannot return.

Didn't care for how this receiver sounds. Don't like how it processes the audio, even in Pure-Direct mode. Sound is fatiguing, over exaggerated sounds. Doesn't sound natural.

    Buggy with a horrible display

Sometimes the screen is all green from my nvidia shield. If I switch to another input and back it might fix it. The receiver will sometimes just cycle through inputs on its own, activating my other devices until I turn it off. The new display on the front is terrible. You can't read it from 10 feet away, and the contrast is bad. The old orange displays were 100 times better. Overall I'm very disappointed. Unfortunately it took more than a month for these issues to surface and I'm beyond the return period.

Do not buy this receiver! It would not accept Xfinity box or hook up to an OLED TV! Waisted 8 hours trying to make it work! Bought a Denon receiver. Fantastic step by step instructions! Sets up quick and easy!

Really disappointed. I own several Yamaha receivers the last purchase was a RX v385. I thought I was upgrading when I purchased the RX-V4A. When I set it up the remote was faulty. When new batteries were inserted the remote it did not respond to the selection made and kept changing the source in a circle. Even more disappointed with the response of Best Buy the staff offered a generic remote or wanted me to contact Yamaha direct to have remote replaced.

It won’t turn on and we’ve had it only 3 weeks. Also when researching how to reset it there’s no information on a RX-V4A receiver. The display doesn’t come on.

    HDMI 2.1 bug

The Yamaha RX-V4A has a HDMI 2.1 bug that makes watching interferes with 4k and you have to run all of your HDMI through your TV rather than this unit. Yamaha is aware of the bug but has no time line to fix the bug.
