Swapped out a Denon AVR-S750H for this and could not be happier. Set up is easy. Plug your speakers in and it will work! No clunky set up screens.
The Yamaha sounds better, looks better, and is easy to set up and use. Highly recommend!

The RX-V4A provides superb sound, a modern interface and all networking, WiFi, Bluetooth and Airplay capabilities. My receiver is driving 2 Klipsch RP-600M front speakers and a RP-600C center speaker connected to a Samsung 4K TV, Apple TV, iMac and wired ethernet.
Outstanding classical music, vocals and jazz!

I had some issues initially getting video pass through from my Apple TV 4K but once I turned off HDR on the Apple TV, everything worked fine. It seems to be a common problem.

The Yamaha - RX-V4A 5.2-channel AV Receiver with 8K HDMI and MusicCast is a high-quality Receiver that replaced an old non-functional receiver.

Bought this because it has a second zone to power my outdoor speakers. The MusicCast feature and app works great. Can stream to tons of services directly from the receiver so you dont need to keep your phone connected to it. The MusicCast app controls it, but nothing is streaming from your phone.

One of the best receivers I’ve purchased in a long time. I purchased this product for my garage and it has not disappointed. This is my second Yamaha receiver and the sound quality has improved over the years. I purchased my first Yamaha 22 years and it is still rocking my family room.

This replaced a 12-year old Onkyo receiver. This unit was easy to set up and had inputs for everything I needed. The sound is good to me. Spotify through MusicCast is super easy. For this price I'm just missing a 2nd zone.

this was my first time purchasing in this price range. I was very pleased with the operation of everything on eARC. pretty seamless. i returned this because i wanted to try the Atmos features of my speakers. this does not support that function, that i could find anyway.
It’s still a great starting point.

I have had Yamaha receivers for many years and needed a relatively inexpensive one for a bedroom. This one fit the bill. As I was a previous Yamaha user setup and operations were a snap. It was a great purchase. It works like my microwave with a selector job and push to confirm. The receiver makes sound, the microwave makes the popcorn.

Love the sound of this unit. Setup is a pain as the manual is not very good. But is sounds great when setup. Its driving my Polk audio speakers with a velodyne subwoofer. Very clear sound and surprising about of power for the price. Loses a star for the setup/manual.

I am using this receiver with a TV set in the master BR and it works very well. It was slightly tricky to set up but it all came together and ended up having great sound, and easy to operate.

Got this specifically to run XBox Series X through because it is notorious for audio delay. It will run 4k 120 HDR to your tv with no noticeable lag and eliminates the audio delay nonsene with gaming consoles and especially Blu Ray discs. Great if your TV only has one HDMI 2.1 input as it has 4 inputs. Perfect for multiple gaming consoles.

This unit is very stream lined easy to use and setup.
Sound is Great.
Now the Bad....
The GUI. is not so good , it has no color and is very plain and lacks options. The Multi-Room Selection on the remote does'nt work very either.
It runs hot an constantly shuts down! So I had to return it.
I was using only 2 Front Speakers
Save your money and time and go for the Rx-v6.

Minus Game-Breaking Hardware Defect, It's Great

If it wasn't for the fact that my previous receiver didn't have eARC AND HDMI 2.1, I wouldn't of purchased this. Currently there's a hardware defect that makes it so the PS5, XBox Series X, and the new RTX 3000 series cards can't run at 4k 120hz through the receiver and it just gives a black screen.
I had just purchased a LG CX 77" to take advantage of the new console features and to hook up my PC to. This receiver is a stop-gap measure that supports eARC so I can send sound back from the TV to the receiver for the consoles and my Nvidia Shield. Big caveat with eARC, is that it's audio/video sync only works if the TV, Reciever, and Cable is HDMI 2.1. I originally bought a cheaper receiver that had eARC but was HDMI 2.0 and the audio/video sync didn't work between the TV and the receiver, making it really hard to watch anything on the TV.
This receiver is one of the cheapest options to get HDMI 2.1 and eARC so my setup will work for now. In the future when the next iteration of receivers comes out I'll spend more money so I can run everything through my receiver.

Complicated Receiver to setup and use

Too early to fully judge. I find the setup of the Receiver leaves a lot to be desired!! I have contacted Yamaha for further explanation and it’s been 2 weeks and no reply back!! Nothing in the instructions or online manual fully explains the different modes on the receiver. This is not my first rodeo hooking up a new receiver to my surround sound speakers and connecting all the devices by new high speed hdmi cables, yet trying to find which source I needed to switch to on the receiver between streaming and the cable box was a mystery that I only found by screwing around with the receiver modes. Frankly very disappointed. On the fence about recommending the receiver for a newbie or for that matter an experienced audiophile. I hope I get feedback from Yamaha and can update this review later.
