I love my yamah receiver so much that i purchased this for my son. Hard to beat that Yamaha sound. Ive also noticed the improved ui over previous models. It's also gamer ready as it supports 4k 120hz and vrr.

This is a nice Yamaha receiver in the mid level line of electronics. I was replacing a high end system that did not have the HDMI connections for all the video, game, & cable hook ups. Does not have old school video connections. The step below still has composite audio video connections if you still need them. I did not need to replace the speakers, so I went with the 5.2 model.

A great unit so far. Easy to setup, but lacking good documentation out of the box. Teh instructions could be clearer on how to operate certain features such as setup wifie for users who have never used a unit like this before (me). And the app instructions were complicated to navigate. But once you figure out that you need to have it connected to a TV to see the menu options best, then you should breeze through set up. I am currently loving the airplay to my unit and also customizing the unit and scenes in app.
My current steup:
- PS5
- Switch
- 40" Roku TV
- Klipsch Reference 610F floor speakers and RP 250C center channel for 3.1 sound.

Really nice receiver if you don’t need ATMOS. Bought this as a replacement for an older Yamaha TIAB receiver. Connects easily to Alexa. Rook correction works well. Sleek design.

HIFI Streaming using Spotify with 2 speaker sets

I was looking for a good solution to stream Spotify through a new receiver to 2 sets of speakers. The Yamaha RX-V4A is a great solution. I can turn on the receiver via Spotify and stream my music selection without getting up from my couch (not sure that is a good thing yet it is very convenient). The receiver was a significant upgrade in sound from my Onkyo. The Best Buy associate took the time to find a solution that would work for me.
The initial install takes time and the only downside is when I want to play both the A and B speakers I have to access the remote. The receiver is designed for home theater yet does what I need.

It does what I was wanting it to. Can stream music from my phone to this receiver easily without the need for a DAC unit. The DAC I was interested in was $220, but I decided I could accomplish the same goal with this receiver AND upgrade my stereo system too instead. Works great! My previous receiver was a Yamaha as well. For me, you can hear the difference between their products and Sony’s. I’m a fan.

Everything is ok with the unit. The manual is very hard to understand and it took some time to get the Bluetooth and internet radio to work.

Great 5.1 receiver. Exactly what I needed and stylish. Sound quality is great and latest firmware will pass through 4k at 120 but is limited. You will want to do your homework if you are looking for that feature.

HDMI 2.1 chip flaw buyer beware.

Warning for PS5/XSX purchasers, 2020 receivers from Yamaha (other brands as well) have a flaw in the HDMI 2.1 chip that doesn't allow proper output of 4k/120hz signals. If you are interested in a receiver for next generation consoles with 4k and high refresh rates then you are better off waiting a while. Having said that the receiver does have nice features and decent price point. I'm not a big fan of the new small display window though I just like the look of the older model's displays. The giant volume button design isn't that great but not a deal breaker.

Nice looking unit. I use it as a basic stereo setup. Sub with two fronts. Sounds great and I’m very happy with the purchase. Price was in my range as well as the power.

Nice unit but the front speaker minimum impedance is 6 ohms. Plus if you want to bi-amps your front speakers, again the minimum impedance it can handle is 6 ohms. However, with my SONY Bravia TV, and unlike both Denon and Okyo units (apparently both owned by the same company), the receiver does not always turn on when you turn on the TV. That feature can drive you nuts!!!

I'm using this Yamaha RX-V4A 5.2 channel to be the hub for my 82" 4K TV, Satellite TV, 4K-DVD player and a turntable. The sound is better than I expected. My only concern is that it will not broadcast its own SSID in order to use the MusicCast smartphone app. Without the MusicCast app connection you can not log into any of your streaming app like Pandora. I've done extensive troubleshooting and still no connection. I've also called Yamaha tech support four times and after waiting 45-minutes each time I'm always 35th in the queue. I finally gave up.

Audio files, love Yamaha for receivers. I’m not that and I was concerned that this receiver with only 80 W per channel would be enough power for my Klipsch speakers but it’s amazing that I can’t even turn the sound all the way up to zero DB because it’s too loud. And the music cast app works great and is exactly what I was looking for in a competitor to Sonos.
