Easily could be a GREAT receiver, BUT......

I really wanted to love this receiver. The sad part is that I really do love it, but it just has some bug issues that Yamaha needs to smooth out ASAP. This receiver has a really poor input/source switching bug where if you switch from one source to another, the picture is just black. Meaning the source that you're wanting to switch to doesn't appear at all. You have to shut the receiver off and turn back on. Very annoying. A new thing that it just started to do this week is the sound is cutting in and out for no reason. Don't know how to fix this issue. Going to try and return it for a different receiver.

I have tried Sony, Onkyo and Denon looking for a receiver that not only has the newest features but enough power to run a 7.1 Klipsch speaker setup with the grunt to really give me the powerful concert level sound pressure when I want it but also be able to play normal TV and movies well and I have to say this is the one it's rated at 100 watts per channel but definitely punches way above that and has all the features I want I'm telling you this is the one and it's got a good price at $650.00 out the door. look no further this is the one the menu is a little bit complicated but once you get used to it this is the one!!!

    Major brand, major letdown

I bought this after another brand let me down twice in two years. It took a week for me to get tired of the quirks in this piece of expensive garbage. Does it put out sound? Yes. Does it do it the way it should? No. When I set my devices to 7 channels, I expect to hear 7 channels, not just the front two. When I set my devices to 120Hz video, I expect to see 120Hz video, not 60Hz. When I switch to the input for my computer, I expect to see and hear video when played, not after going into the sound setting on my PC, muting and unmuting it a few times. If I start a new video, I have to repeat the process in order to hear it. If I wanted Wally World garbage, I would've gone shopping there.

We like this Yamaha receiver much better than the Sony we had because it allows the speakers to sound much clearer!!! You can understand the words in the shows much better!! Only trouble was setting it up. Had to Yamaha on the phone to adjust the volume in the settings.

This is a great receiver...easy to setup...and plenty of ports for speakers. We have paired it with a Samsung Frame TV and some Bose Accustimass surround sound speakers. Wow....I hid my head under a pillow for some of the scenes in "Bourne". We still need to get the MusicCast app working...I've just started to set it up. Another remaining task is to tie it in with our Amazon Echo. All that stuff is great....but it is the sound quality that makes this receiver Excellent!

I absolutely love this receiver. It has been almost 8 years since I have brought a new unit. My last receiver had a network and server option, but not like this unit with musiccast. Wow, you have so much control of how, where, and what you want to listen to. Alexa and Google home app voice controls even create another dimension. Added with Dolby Atmos, dual Sub outputs and my new Yamaha has had me smiling since purchase. The week I waited for it to arrive at my local store and some issues with Best Buy's inventory system have not mattered since getting home and hooking it up.

I had the Greek Squad come hook up my new Yamaha RX-V6A and I can not stop listening to this stereo receiver because it sounds amazing. Its 12 midnight but I can not go to bed, I just loving the crystal clear sound of this system. I listen to jazz all my life and I had a Denon receiver and It just didn't sound right, not sure how I ended up a Denon receiver? But this Yamaha RX- V6A is Eating Up the sound and sending beautiful music to my Martin Logan Mosaic speakers divinely. This Receiver is Simply Amazing, Let the Greek Squad set it up because it all Pro Set-up!!

I love the sound. It was difficult for me to set up. I have Samsung TV with mini-connect box. I got the sound working through the receiver but not video. I called geek squad they sent two Technincian over that hooked me up. They said I did it right I just needed to adjust some settings.

Great entry level amplifier! Good price range! Sound sometimes get disconnected when using eARC feature from TV to home theater system! I’m on the latest firmware update. I hope they fix this bug for eARC and make all the HDMI 2.1 features available!

Continuous failures with horrible Bestbuy support

Bought this as a splurge because I was building my ultimate home theater. Had nothing but problems with it. Kept dropping signal to my cable box over and over. I should have returned it but it was such a pain to install and set up I tried to just endure it. It seems like the HDMI ports finally failed completely after a couple of years, a couple of months after my extended warranty ended. Pretty much a worst case scenario and BestBuy Total was hilariously useless during all of it. Very low quality tech support, always told they can't help, can't send anyone, don't know what to do. They just do everything they can to not help you and get you off the phone or tell you to just "bring your HT setup into store". Zero common sense going on here. BestBuy Totaltech used to be pretty good but it just seems like a scam now. The receiver was surprisingly low quality. I was really expecting more from a premium receiver with great reviews.

I'm still figuring out the feature set, since Thanksgiving was a break after just attaching it to my current system. The downloaded user guide is more helpful than the quickstart guide, especially with a variety of devices attached to my old receiver.
