I bought the Yamaha RXV6A to replace a 10 year old Sony receiver. The Yamaha was a step up and after a few attempts to set it up, I finally got it working correctly. The sound is clear and dynamic.
I love the bluetooth and the ability to use it as a transmitter to send output to my bluetooth speakers on my patio.

My old receiver finally kicked the bucket so figured we'd upgrade to 7.2. The instructions are a little too vague and you can't update all the settings from the app. In order to see all the settings, you have to connect the HDMI output to the TV. Would have been nice to know that in the instructions. Produces great sound and the internet capabilities are really neat. I can control the unit from my phone.

The Yamaha RX-V6A had everything I was looking for in an upgrade to my 10 year old Yamaha receiver. HDMI 2.1 with all of the gaming functionality, Dolby Vision and Atmos, 4k 120Hz. The basic setup was fairly easy. By default, the receiver will switch back to the TV input when it detects a signal on ARC. This can only be disabled if you have eARC. It took a little while for me to find the right setting for this.
My first unit came damaged from shipping. Exchanged it in store for another, and it is great.

Upgraded my old sony receiver with this unit.
Incredible value which also includes 8K sound. The 4K hdmi upscaler improved my samsung TV picture very well.
The surround sound decoder works well in Auto. Reads certain sports broadcasts as dolby atmos which enhances the game experience.
The calibration unit smooths out and balances the speakers. Pairs well with sonus.

So far so good. Needed a new receiver when my integra went out and was recommended this one for my needs. Sounds good but does not have near the sound flexibility with Dolby,Dts,etc. However it is very nice and would recommend.

I bought this to replace my 10+ year old Pioneer receiver with some future proofing in mind. Same speaker setup and location, used the Yamaha buit-in auto-eq and I was blown away. I made a couple minor tweaks for my personal preference and this receiver sounds night and day better than my old receiver.

This has been the most frustrating piece of electronic equipment I have ever owned. Its primary problem is that it requires a hard reset via holding the power button down for 10 seconds EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to watch TV. When I turn it on via the remote, it does not send anything to the TV before doing this hard reset. In addition, it randomly turns itself off in the middle of a TV show, movie or game. If I could return it for a refund I would. This is the last piece of yamaha electronics I will ever buy.

7/11/22:
If you bought this for vrr and 2.1 gaming features STOP!! it doesn't have it (yet) Maybe never. It does everything else really well, if you don't play games or next gen games this doesn't even matter its a decent av for movies. but if u bought it to play games w/ all 2.1 features, it still cant. However, i was able to achieve what i wanted by plugging the xsx and ps5 directly to the tv, then ran the av receiver hdmi from the arc port. this allowed the passthrough of 5.1 audio to the next gen systems, while still allowing me to take advantage of the 2.1 features like vrr the tv natively has, but the receiver breaks the chain because they sold us an unfinished product. I'm upset that yamaha has not only dragged they're feet with this, but have ppl who bought they're products looking like fools. buy another receiver if u got this to game.

Incredible bang for buck. Wish 9&11 channel receivers weren’t double and triple this price. The only thing I’m still trying to figure out is streaming atmos from iPhone. Not sure if it’s possible.

Best bang for your buck with this receiver. Has all the must including 8k support, 4k @120hz, albeit a future firmware release. Some minor bugs here and there, nothing that a restart didn't fix.
