1st off, I already owned a physical copy of this for the PS4, but as a long time fan of the Ys series, I had to buy this again here on the Switch. The reason? Well, besides being able to take it on the go now, the main reason I bought it again is because on the PS4, you cannot pause the game during boss fights, And being that I have a nerve disability that effects my fingers, I bought it again, because you CAN pause it during bosses on the Switch, simply by hitting the "Home" button. My fingers get stiff & sore on some games, mainly button mashy ones with 10 + minute boss battles, so I sometimes have to rest my fingers for a few seconds. Simply put, I bought this again because the Switch version solves that problem of not being able to pause. I love the Ys series, and have most all the games released in the USA, and this is the 1st in the series that that irked me by having the problem of not being able to pause during boss battles. Odd game design choice, if you ask me, but I found a way around it. Thought I'd let people know that have a similar problem.

Ys Origin is an action rpg with three playable characters. The third character is locked in the beginning. To unlocked the third one, I think the player needs to finish both characters' routes. (So far, I only finished the game once with the female character) Each character has their own skill and battle style, so it makes the game more interesting. The story is great, and the soundtrack is always enjoyable; in addition, it has a lot of replay value.

Taking things back to classic action RPG days, the run and quick pace of Ys Origins is fun at first. However, even on normal difficulty the game can quickly take a frustrating turn. Many mechanics are not explained well and if you don't take care to explore every nook and cranny, you'll be at a huge disadvantage later. Unlike other games where it rewards you for going off the beaten path, this game its a requirement. Also, having to go to the menu yo activate an items effects definitely shows its age. Decent gameplay and music but the story is lackluster.

Great action rpg. If your a ys fan, this is a must! Great graphics, gameplay, and especially music. Cant go wrong with this one.

Ys Origins is a fantastic action-RPG that represents one of the best games in this long-running series. You get to play as a melee-based knight or range-based wizard and engage in fast-paced, real-time combat. In typical RPG (and Ys) fashion, you will need to grind experience to level up from time-to-time, but the action is so good that it doesn’t slow the game down. Ys Origin is highly recommended for anyone who enjoyed Ys: Oath of Falgana or anyone who wants a great action-RPG.

Y's Origin is just like original but even better. They did a great job with porting it to the switch. Graphics are outstanding. Controls are great. Gameplay is smooth. You can't go wrong with this game.

New to the series with ys memories of cel eta and ys lacrimosa of Dana love the game decided to get this one like it

I've always wanted to play the Ys series and this is the origin story before the main line games, so it's a really good way to start! The action is fast-paced and you can play with a total of 3 characters. You will need to beat the game with the first 2 to unlock the third. I'm so glad Best Buy carries Limited Run games as I'm a physical game type of guy!! :)

Old school, fast & fluid gameplay with a great story. If you play any Ys game, let it be this one.

Awesome action RPG with smooth action and sweet music.

The actual gameplay is generally intact, however, and that means Ys Chronicles 1 is a must-have for any mobile RPG fan. It’s a sheer joy to play, full of a kind of upbeat excitement that doesn’t come around all that often. It will make you feel awesome one minute, completely crush you the next.

Although the game style feels a bit outdated, this jewel of a game is a delight to play. The difficulty can get a bit high, but nothing that some grinding for level ups shouldn't fix, and there lies one of the game's problem. Not many enjoy grinding for levels in order to move forward in the story. Regardless, this game is very fun to play; exploration is a delight. Finding things that will power you up feels so fun, it just makes you want to explore further for anything you may have missed due to needing a new move or higher level to reach it.

Amazing, the game arrived much earlier than I expected. Game in perfect condition and the cartridge arrived. This is a hidden jewel of the JRPGs. Ys saga is an amazing journey and I am fascinated with this game produced by Nihon Falcom. Can't wait to play it.

Hands down one of my favorite JRPG series and was stoked to buy physically for the switch even if I do already own it on three other platforms. Great game and love that every game follows the original character.

Great game. This is one of those limited releases, but it's just the game case and cart; no manual. Ys Origins is as the name suggest, the origin story of the Ys series. It is an action RPG and you choose between two characters to start your adventure. The highlight of Ys games is the music and this game is no exception. Is this worth $40? If your not a fan of the series then, no. I believe the digital game is $20. But it may be worth it if your a Nintendo Switch game collector.

Great game. You want a classic style action adventure then get this. The graphics are styled after mid to late 90s look. The pre rendered sprites. If you like that then you’ll love this. It’s fast and fun. The price is great for what you get back.
