This is my first Zagg phone case. It is composed of a high-quality clear plastic material with dark gray tint on the sides and also on the kickstand, which is on the lower part of the case. There is also the circle and line almost black MagSafe conductor. The camera hole as a thick rim shaped like a square with rounded edges, which in circles, the three iPhone 17 Pro camera lenses. There is a second less elevated vertical pill like slot, which encircles the sensors on the other side of the large. Camera nodule. This visually changes the appearance of the back of the iPhone, which I found to be a nice aesthetic, making the phone a bit less recognizable as a iPhone 17 Pro. The button covers work fairly well, but are fairly simple partial punch outs. Appear less solid than my original case which is an Apple Silicon case. The camera slider/button is exposed, but is a bit less accessible as it is indented and the case is several millimeters thick. The weight and size of the case is significantly more than the silicone and changes the overall feel of the phone. There are diamonds studied rough patches on both sides, particularly on the left. The bottom of the case is three large cut outs and there are no holes to attach a strap like is present on many of the Apple designed cases. The case by itself weighs 60 g and this is significantly heavier than the silicone Apple case which weighs 31 grams. I plan to use it only selectively when an extra rugged bigger case may be advantageous, but in my daily use this case, makes the phone less comfortable to be carried in a pocket.

This ZAGG Santa Cruz case is solid. Unless you’re using your phone as a hockey puck, most people will not need anything more protective than this. PROs √ Clearly this is a high quality built case. √ Convenient kickstand that lets you set your phone vertically or horizontally. √ Excellent textured grip along the sides. √ The opening for the USB C port on the bottom can accommodate larger plugs than I’ve seen on other cases. √ Raised lip around the front screen and around the camera lenses on the back gives you confidence that you can place the phone down face up or face down without scratching the screen or lenses. CONs - While the raised lip offers protection, it also takes away a bit from the “swipeability” of the screen at the edges, and makes the case feel large. - The case adds some noticeable weight. And if you add any additional accessories like a wallet or pop-up grip, you will definitely feel the heft. - When the kickstand is used in the vertical (portrait) position, it’s not 100% stable when typing or swiping the screen in spots. - The kickstand is thin and hard. It can scratch delicate surfaces if dragged. OTHER - It comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee if the case ever breaks. Ultimately whether or not you like a case depends on personal factors: how it fits in your hands, how careful your are with your phone, weight, style and so on. This one is good for those who want extra protection, don’t need the thinnest and lightest case, and don’t mind a little added weight.

Legacy brand in the smartphone industry, but do they still live up to their name? TL;DR ***Pro*** -Good Looking Case -Texture side for grip -Good amount of lip where glass is located -Kickstand -mag-safe compatible ***Cons*** -Not so Scratch resistant -No protection on Camera button -Not enough protection on the cameras side When it comes to these legacy brands that been around for a while, it is obvious they stop innovating at some point. Sorry zagg you will be an example of this today. To start, I am not saying the case does not do its job? It does, but just enough. It has been a while since I personally owned a zagg product, and not going to lie some of their cases in the past did look cool. But, after using this one for 2 weeks, I can confidently say I have not been missing much. The Reason I said this is because, there is nothing innovative, while they could of done so much. Also, the warranty does not justify the coins per product this offers. The camera cutout are pretty unattractive personally, I mean there might be some that believe it’s the coolest thing in the world, but with the new iPhone 17 Pro series design, I would rather companies commit and cover as much as possible in the back or just leave the whole bump cutout open for me to add my own camera protector. The case looks cool, all crystal cases do, but the plastic does scratch pretty quickly and I never exposed it to anything other than maybe rough carpet and car keys, and my mag-safe accessories. The little kickstand seems to be the one that is durable. Anyways would I recommend this to someone looking for a case?? I would say no competition is pretty strong out there, if you can wait a few days you will find better.

Structurally this case is well built and after a couple of accidental drops it does a nice job protecting the phone, but there are some major trade offs to this case that you should be aware of. The first trade off is the weight and bulk of this case. This is the fifth case I’ve tried since upgrading to the iPhone 17 Pro and by far the heaviest. My previous phone with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and after putting my 17 Pro in this case, the 17 Pro weighed more than the 15 Pro Max did when it was it it’s own case. This is not a good thing. Maybe some people like the extra weight but I’m not one of them. The second trade off is the kickstand. It’s a trade off because I really wanted a kickstand because I’m constantly finding reasons to have to prop my phone up somewhere. Why Apple can’t bake this into the phone natively is beyond me. I digress. But the implementation of this one leaves a lot of the desired. It’s flimsy. It does fold up snuggly but I kept worrying it was going to snap when I would pull it out to use it which again is not a good thing. On the other hand it does hold the phone up, so at least it’s functional. I”m not sure why they decided to make this case clear. There are so many thick black lines around the case and the huge black MagSafe circle with an extra black line coming off it along with the kickstand…. For all practical purposes, when you insert your phone, you’ve now basically got a black phone case. But it’s not, it’s clear. Which just makes it look weird and bulky. My family has the Orange and Blue iPhone 17 Pro’s and I tried it with both models and overall none of us liked the black accents around this thing. In our opinions it rendered the Clear portion of the case a waste of effort an we would have preferred the entire case be a solid color. Overall I think this case will provide excellent protection for the device, which I think is the primary purpose of having a case, but there are far lighter, more attractive looking cases available that will do the same thing.
