Initially, I was confused by the variety and types of internet modems and routers out there and didn't know what to buy so I could get rid of paying my cable provider for an out-dated modem. I also did not want a combo modem/router. I checked a number of tech sites and this was considered the best bang for the buck. They were sure right! Since installing the unit, my internet speed for my hardwired and wifi devices has never been faster, with less drops in connectivity. All in all, a great value!

    Great cable modem for Comcast

I have purchased two Zoom cable modems over the past couple of months (one for me, one for my son) and have been impressed by their performance. They are self-configuring on Comcast / Xfinity, so I just unplugged the old modem and plugged in the Zoom. Within a few minutes it connected with Comcast and took right off. Big improvement in speed over my old DOCSIS 2.0 modem. Don't let the corny name throw you off. Zoom has been making modems since the dial-up days. This modem is a great performer at a reasonable price. BTW, This is a modem only. You will need a switch or WiFi access point to use it with more than one computer.

Got this to replace the one provided by my Internet provider. Compatible with multiple services including the one I signed up with. Takes up much less room than the one they wanted to rent to me for $10/month and has faster download speeds though your experience may vary. For 70 bucks, I break even in 7 months and enjoy more of the bandwidth I pay for. No brainer purchase and very easy to set up though you may need to call tech support to give them the modem model and MAC address to provision it (set up on their end).

I use this cable modem with Time Warner for Standard Internet of 15mbs. I have it hooked up to an old Belkin g wireless router that I bought in 2004 from Comp USA, and most of the time I get 15mbs +/- around 1mbs which is great. The modem works as it should. No problems. Compact size, which I find more appealing and space saving than the massive ones on the market. The zoom is the bomb. Plus, it is the cheapest one at best buy, so you get great value for the money. I've been using it for over a month now. Very reliable. Easy setup. Great value. Compact size. Couldn't be more pleased.

If you need fast internet, DOCSIS 3 and simple set up, this is it!. Useful for any cable internet user, and is Comcast compatible. Had very little problems with setup. Is a bit limited on outputs but that is to be expected for a basic cable modem. It does the job and does it well, and at a price point about 30% less than its competition.

    Why Spend More?

First off, why buy this modem 10 times over by paying the cable company monthly for the use of theirs? Secondly, the transfer rate capacity significantly exceeds the current "Extreme" rate that TWC offers, in anticipation of increased speeds. (= extended useful life) Power 'on' and connect the cable box LAN line. (= "user friendly") What could be more simple and/or less expensive? Operation has been flawless. Too bad the TWC furnished Cisco cable box doesn't function as effectively (i.e., at least on the TV side) as the modem. When you live in Hawaii, though, seriously: who needs TV anyway?!? And the Internet is just a speedier version of the "Coconut Telegraph". Shoots! Aloha oe. (>];o)~

Purchased this modern to replace the one I've been renting for years from the cable company. (Charging me 2-3x the value for outdated technology.) Explored some options and found the Zoom to have equivalent advanced features to much more expensive models from prominent brands like Motorola/Arris. It's small, connects like a breeze with a coaxial splitter from Amazon, and provides my maximum Internet speed. Definitely recommended.

This is a great modem. Install was a breeze. I purchased this after I returned a Motorola Arris modem which constantly reset itself every 5 minutes. I quickly learned that Motorola modems are plagued with problems and online forums recommended this Zoom modem as a better and less expensive replacement. I have not lost connection once. Avoid anything from Motorola and get this modem.

Replaced a Motorola Modem for Comcast

After my Comcast stock modem went out I replaced it with a Motorola that lasted awhile. But it started dropping the signal and requiring constant reboots. So I did some research on a good replacement and found out about the Zoom. Read several reviews and decided it was the one to get. Set up was fairly easy, and I like that it has a web based menu that I can access from any device on the network, similar to a router set up page. Ive been using it since March 2013, so about 4 months now and have had no major issues. I had to switch out several routers in my house to get all the devices to play nice with each other, but that wasnt the modems fault. I have a lot of devices that are connected and I still get great speeds. I just ran a speed test and got 52.28 mb/s download and 10.99 mb/s upload. If you want a decent cable modem to replace a broken one, or so you dont have to may to rent one this is a great choice. I highly recommend it.

This is a "no frills" solution to getting a modem. It works fine, supports fast speeds and is reasonable in cost. I won't do anything fancy. You will need to get your own wireless router if you want wi-fi. It won't support MoCA or other cool features. But, it gets you online for cheap, and does not require constant rebooting, which is want I wanted. I'm satisfied.

I replaced my rented UBee modem from Comcast with this Zoom modem. I found it to faster than the UBee which was a pleasant surprise. It specifically states on the box that it's compatible with Comcast so I chose this one. You will have to contact Comcast via phone to activate the modem. One doesn't want to buy a modem that Comcast will not support over the phone. Check your Comcast invoice, Comcast failed to reduce my monthly charges after turning in my old rental modem. They prorated my account from the day I did the Zoom activation over the phone. The phone technician had to have me restart the modem when the settings wouldn't take effect. There were many choices of modem at Best Buy but I couldn't see the point of spending more money as the specs for this modem's throughput is much faster than the speeds available from Comcast anyway. Single Ethernet modem is connected to a 16 port Ethernet switch in my house.

When looking to purchase a cable modem to eliminate the cost of renting one, the choices came down to either a Motorola Surfboard or this Zoom product. After reading some bad reviews on Motorola Surfboard connectivity & speed, and virtually no bad reviews on the Zoom connectivity & speed, I opted to go with this unit. I'm extremely happy with it. Being a Comcast customer, I was required to call their customer service number and give them information needed to activate it, which took no more than 10 minutes. It's been up and running flawlessly since installing it over a month ago, and speeds are almost always better than expected. Given that this unit is cheaper than the comparable Surfboard model, it's an unbeatable deal for anyone looking to ditch their modem rental fees. Some folks have claimed this unit runs "hot", and while it is warm to the touch I wouldn't call it hot by any means. It's no hotter than the external hard drive I use for backups. FWIW, I have this paired with a Netgear WNDR4500 wireless router, which I re-configured (reset and ran the install wizard) when the new Zoom modem was up and running to ensure the two units worked properly with each other.

I highly recommend this Zoom cable modem. It's very affordable, easy to setup and seems to run very fast. It also seems to be very stable. I haven't had to reboot it yet like I did with my previous cable modem. Keep in mind that this is a modem only, not a wireless router. You will need to purchase a wireless router separately.

Rather than pay $10+/month to rent a modem from Comcast, I decided to buy my own. This model happened to be the least expensive DOCSIS 3.0 modem at my local Best Buy, so I picked one up and was amazed to see how small and discrete it looked next to the monstrous eye-sores Comcast burdens all its customers with. After a reasonably pain-free phone call to Comcast, my new modem was active sending and receiving data at the full speed of my account's 105Mbps bandwidth cap. After almost 3 months, I have had no problems at all and couldn't be any more pleased. This modem will have paid for itself after 4 more months, but removing that huge, ugly Comcast unit from my desk has made this a worthwhile purchase anyway!

Picked up this modem as it was on the approved Time Warner list. Plugged it in,attached the cable and my Netgear wifi router, called TWC to activate on account. Start to finish - 10 minutes. This modem consistently provides speeds over wifi that TWC only guarantees with direct connect. I am very satisfied.

Our cable company bumped us from 12 to 55 Mbps, for no additional charge. Our old modem couldn't handle the new speed, so I spent time online shopping and comparing specs and reviews for a new modem. The Zoom modem we bought got very good marks from others and it was on sale. I installed the modem and then I called the cable company. The tech support guy gathered information from the modem and within a few minutes he found the modem online and said it was ready to use. It was that simple. I connected it to my Netgear WiFi router and ran an internet speed test. We were getting 55 Mbps as advertised. The modem has been working away night and day in the garage without so much as a missed blip. I'm very pleased with this modem.

Not sure what took so long for me to purchase my own modem, 10 dollars a month with Comcast otherwise. At first I wanted to go with Motorola Surfboard series but it was only 4x4 channel bonding. With the Zoom, it was not only cheaper, it comes with 8x4 channel bonding, with 8 being download and 4 being up. Works well with Comcast and I achieve a bit above my download speed with the package I have. Yes I would recommend.

I bought one of the more expensive cable modems (a DPC3008) only to have it drop connection and restart repeatedly (like 18 times in 24 hour period). Cable company said all my signal levels were good and suggested I try one of their cable modems. Rather than pay the rental fee I got this one to see if it really was the cable modem at fault. It was the cheapest one they had on the shelf. I plugged it in and got it working in minutes. Then WOW! Not only was it stable it was just as fast as the modems that cost twice as much. I was so impressed that I returned the DPC3008 and kept this one. I was thoroughly impressed!
