    A good improvement over the H4N. However I ended up returning the product not due to any dissatisfaction with the quality of operation (I never even opened the box) but rather I decided I wanted the color display of the H6 which also offers a VU meter and other enhanced display features. The graphics on the H5 are like those on the H4N - clunky and look like a crude display from decades ago. The display on the H6 are much better.

    It has manual gain controls to control how much signal goes through the mic as well as accessorie mic attachmants where the mic capture pttern can be change so the recorder can capture sound in different ways.

    I use this to record sound for weddings. It works really great, and I love being able to dial record from the LR channels and by getting a line in. It is great to ensure sound.

    I had an earlier version but I love the H5 Handy Record. It is incredible and easy to control. Only thing I am not a fan of is how fast the batteries die when using this.
