Very well built phone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My kids have Samsung S6 actives. So my opinion is based on: How it compares to the S6..... Well it compares very well! First "Dual Sim", Way more carrier frequencies, Dolby ATMOS, and loud dual speakers. The signal in my house has Never been better than 3 bars on any phone..... Well the Axon 7 Mini gets 5 bars(max) all the time in the house and 4 bars(max) on WiFi!!!!! Calls are super clear! microSD upto 256GB, The Dolby really makes a huge difference on my Bludio TS2 headphones, and the built in speakers as well. Talking about the speakers.... well they are loud and handle the higher volume well. And using a Type-C usb connector is soooo much better, Finger print reader....... Then the CONs: if your use to Samsung then the menu system is strange at best. Some things like custom ring tones for each contact is something I don't think the mini does. I have been able to set a ringtone for each Sim. I did notice its slower, but by such a small amount to be hard to notice. Only 2705mAh battery(although seems to be plenty)......... Overall I would totally recommend this Very Smart Phone to Anyone looking for a Super Solid budget phone!

Nice phone, but really BAD battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up a ZTE axon 7 Mini almost the first day that it was released to Best Buy. I really like the size of the phone but it immediately became clear that the battery life was something substantially less than what I was used to with my OnePlus One after 2 years of usage. The axon 7 mini would get about 3 maybe three and a half hours of screen time before it would die. I found myself charging the phone two or three times a day and dreading having to go out in the evening for fear that it would shut off while I was out. I like all the specs of the phone and the way it fit in my hand. But I couldn't get past the obvious battery shortfall. I had the phone for about a week and a half and exchanged it for the ZTE axon 7, it’s bigger brother. The phone is about the same size as my previous phone maybe a bit thinner and it gets a full five to five-and-a-half hours of battery life with the screen on with just a slightly larger battery. I'm unsure if I had a defective unit but I saw a substantial difference in battery life between the two phones. As for the axon 7 it is a very capable phone, very quick and I hope to keep it for the next year or two. I have looked into the breakdown to replace the battery and it looks like a nightmare comparatively but that's the world we live in, buy it today, through it away tomorrow, and buy it again...

Good Phone, Great Features, Camera So so
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the build quality of this phone, it is not a $199 phone, it went originally for $299, but then went on sale. The build quality is worth the $299. Speakers work just as advertised, they sound amazing. Only comment about the speakers is most of what I watch/listen to does not take advantage of the the Dolby Atmos. Between social media and YouTube, you don't require the Dolby. Still, they are loud and impacful. Finger print sensor works, but it is true. It is slow. NFC is not working for me, I have restarted and restarted, turned on and off, but it is not functioning for me. Bluetooth works, but Android Pay and NFC beam are not functioning. Totally disappointed because most mid range phones don't carry NFC and this one does. Going to return to Best Buy and troubleshoot, otherwise I am returning all together. The screen is fantastic! Beautiful. Performance is modest. Not slow not fast. Oddly, touchscreen intermittently works well and does not, I was not expecting that. I use all sorts of phones and tablets on a daily basis, and I struggle a bit with this guy in certain situations. Camera in day light works wonderfully. However, it is a complete 180 in less than optimal lighting. I am not saying in darkness or at night, I am saying inside a store with good lighting or in any other similar condition, it unfortunately falls apart rather quickly. It is not the worst, but it starts showing its price tag. Overall, this phone will frustrate the experienced user. However, it is a great phone to give to someone who does not place such a high importance on a phone, such as grandparents or a teen with new rights to a smartphone.

*I* Like It! ;-)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrading from an HTC Desire 601 (Virgin) that was getting short on memory (in this app based internet we have now ;-() and a busted headphone plug. Tried an HTC 626s... BZZZZT! Loser. Took it back and while walking around the store saw the Axon 7 display... Looked good! But $399 was a little too much. Looked it up online and saw the Axon 7 "Mini" for $299??? SOLD! Anyway, big improvement over the old phone (Duh!), I mainly kept it for the speakers (and I am cheap). Big bright screen looks great, Android 6.01 is a big improvement over 4.4, plenty of memory, nice clean styling, fits in hand and pocket, comes with a basic clear rubbery (non slip?) cover, battery lasts me all day (14hrs) with a few calls a little web surfing and some music. But Quick Charge brings it right back. Since I was mainly interested in the speakers, I "tested/compared" the speakers on both phones with a couple apps a decibel meter and frequency analyzer. The HTC w/Boom Sound sounds "warmer", and the ZTE sounds "crisper" and seems louder. The decibel meter showed only a small difference? The frequency analyzer revealed the ZTE had a wider frequency range! Lower lows and higher highs added together sounds louder (more "volume"?). Still playing with an equalizer app to dial it in, but once in a while something with good production values comes on and... WOW! ;-) Only a couple knocks for now... No FM Radio on a phone with great speakers??? Whose Idea was THAT? Sheesh! And having to use a "special tool" to get to the SIM/MicroSD slot is a little fiddly and don't loose the tiny tool! (but a paper clip works). Oh, and I had to buy a whole new set of chargers and cables. (you get One charger and cable in the box). Annnd, since it is a new phone there isn't a wide selection of aftermarket cases yet. p.s. For the frequency hounds... Check out willmyphonework net and frequencycheck com for all the gory details. Frequency check, if you drill down a little has a page with compatible carriers listed and what frequencies they support on one page. I found a nice cheap one that had me up and running in minutes. ;-)

Pretty Good for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really eyeing the Google Pixel XL 128gb and LG V20 64gb. But they're quite expensive and/or not available, and my current phone at the time needed to be replaced sooner than later. Saw the deal at Best Buy and I jumped on it. Like the online reviews say, it's not top of the line (which was what I was initially looking for), but it's a very strong mid-level phone. I especially like the speakers with or without headphones. I usually could hear audible fine in my noisy car when driving on the freeway with the moonroof on "tilt." (Basically, it was opened a crack). It had to be on max volume, however. Compare that to the LG V20 I finally got just yesterday. The top speaker volume isn't as loud, and I can't have my moonroof opened, and it's still not as easy to hear on the freeway, only when the road noise isn't so bad will I be able to follow along. Also, the audio (not that I'm an audiophile by any means!), sounds great. It got me interested again in listening to music. Again, with or without headphones, it sounds good. Much better than the MS/Nokia Lumia 550 I replaced. And even the LG V20's speakers (without the headphones and their "Hi-Fi Quad DAC" enabled) don't seem as good playing Amazon Music. I like the responsiveness of the fingerprint sensor. It was also nice to have a physical button to quickly lock the screen. Bottom line: I would recommend for mid-level budget. When I got it at the Best Buy deal price ($199), it is definitely worth it.

Everything great but battery!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this cellphone unlocked in black Friday. It is been 2 weeks I am using this and since then nothing goes wrong with it. Screen resolution is good. It is fast enough! obviously for a cellphone in this range of price! but the only thing I don`t like about it is its battery! It doesn`t hast long time and I need to recharge it almost everyday.

Some heating issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Axon 7 min Gold (A7S122) when i went to local BBY store to checkout a ASUS phone and was surprised at the price cut and purchased it. Great phone and specs, but learnt that it is having some issues with battery heating. Didn't notice that when I charged it here(USA) once, before it was sent overseas...wrong batch may be??

Love this phone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone from Best Buy on May 15th 2017 as an upgrade from my Metro PCS Alcatel Fierce 4. And what an upgrade! Metro PCS has no phone to match this. I went home, switched the sim card to the Axon, called Metro PCS and gave them the IMEI # and BOOM! it worked. The build quality is comparable to the $700.00 + phones out there. The weight is perfect. The AMOLED screen is bright. The sound system, speakers, and Dolby Atmos make this phone mind blowing. It's smooth, fast and consistant, so far. For 199.99 it CANNOT be beat in my opinion. It comes with a clear case. And the Gorilla Glass 4 screen is durable, I've dropped this phone 4 times without a problem. Also not planning on using a screen protector. Screen feels silky to the touch and does not finger print up like most protectors do. Look up G.G 4 reviews on YouTube, they are not needed. Haven't done a lot yet with the camera, but so far it seems great too. @ 199.99, buy it! Look, AMOLED screen, metal construction, sound system, dolby, Gorilla Glass 4, case, quick charge 2.0, 2 year warranty, 32 gigs of storage, 3 gigs of ram, 16 MP camera, WHAT? Battery life is shorter than expected, yet the quick charge 2.0 makes up for it. Make sure you get a Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 car charger lighter adapter to utilize the 2.0 quick charge in the car. My only downside is it does not support WiFi calling.

Just As Fluid As My iPhone7
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a lifelong iPhone user since the first one and have had all the versions up to my current iPhone7 Red (256gig). I needed a phone to use in Nigeria and I wanted two sims. So I am using both the iPhone7 and Axon 7 Mini (a misnomer by the way as it is actually big) side by side. Friends, I really can't tell the difference much in terms of actually using a phone. Yes, the iPhone has better camera etc but I actually have a DSLR camera. In my opinion, this is a great entry level phone to foray into Android eco system and I recommend it. I have upgraded it to the latest Android OS 7.1.1 and removed some apps that I do not find useful. It also comes with a case.

Best Mid Range for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the first of 2 yesterday. Set up google account on new phone and was all set within 30 mins. Went to T-mobile for Nano sim and up and running in minutes. Everything working perfectly so far. I bought the second one to replace an Iphone 6S plus coming off lease and the ZTE has virtually everything of the Iphone and better specs. Also after 18 months I'm done with IOS and Apple. Back to Android. This has Android 6 (marshmallow) right out of the box. Resolution is good and size of screen at 5.2 hits a sweet spot to read it but not be too big for your hand or pocket.

Its a steal!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone just surprised me. Clean interface, superb sound quality, crisp images and long battery life! amazing audio experience! I have had Samsung note and iPhones in the past. I read good reviews and decided to go for this after losing my (expensive) phone. Bestbuy had a good deal price on this. This is just too good for this price!

Will not stay connected to WiFi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like everything else about this phone but it constantly drops the WiFi and so you have to use a lot of data. I spoke with a representative at a phone store and she had owned a different ZTE and said she would never recommend a ZTE phone because she had the same problem. When I did a factory reset it would stay connected until you loaded an app and opened the app. Once I connect to WiFi as soon as I open any app or browser it disconnects from WiFi or will say I am not connected to the internet. I even bought a WiFi signal booster and I still have the problem. My spouse has a different phone and never has this problem so I am sure it is the phone.

You don't need to pay $800 for a phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used my Galaxy S5 + 4 + 3 over the lifespan this phone is as good as a Galaxy S5 with the exception of one little problem. If you have a super high-speed internet connection in your house say for example 100 Meg down you will not achieve that with his phone the maximum it can go is about 50 I did a Google search for iFix and can't find it. ,, do you really need to have a hundred Meg on your phone I suppose not but if you're paying for the high-speed connection why can't you get it on theAxon XTE mini 7. Oh and the sound blows the Galaxy away

Not customizable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone was bought yesterday and is being returned today. I will gladly pay the $35 restocking fee not to have this phone any more. Simple customizations that have been available on Android since forever, are not available on this phone. You cannot change the font. (Seriously??) The stock messenger app doesn't have a landscape view. Who types on their phone in portrait mode???? So you have to download a different messenger. But, guess what?? You can't disable the stock one. So you are forced to use a sub-par messenger, or have messages going to two apps. The phone looks nice, but that's about it. I'm going back to Samsung. Why have an android if you can't customize it?? You might as well have an iPhone.

Green Screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my ZTE in November and the repertoire turned green and in a few days stopped working. I sent it to repair and after a month the phone returned, one week after the use the screen returned to turn green and failed. I will never buy ZTE again. Horrible.

Good phone, big defect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're considering either of these phones, I recommend looking online for display issues with this phone. My phone developed a mysterious crack on the internal display. No drops, bends, etc. and had protective case from day one. A very thin hairline crack developed and became longer and the entire display turned purple. Unfortunately, I was traveling and couldn't bring it back in time to Best Buy for a replacement within their 14 day policy. ZTE says the product is on warranty but will cost $80 to repair or replace regardless. The phone itself is great but ruined by this LCD screen issue. It seems to be very fragile. My top screen has no scratch on it. I also own a Nexus 6p and Nexus 6. Both have been dropped multiple times with no issues to the LCD. This is the first I've seen in a product.
