Ring Spotlight Cam works great during the day
||Posted .I own 3 of these specific spotlight ring camera and love it. In day light it works great but at night it isnt bright at all. The night recordings arent very good without light and the light isnt very bright to help the camera out. Unless u have this low to the ground or add other lights around it to help light up an area at night, it isnt that effective. I mounted this by my front porch light so it does the job for my home day and night but again, If you have it mounted high, the light will not work well at all. In my back yard I added sensor solar lights that light up the area if anything is near so it supplements this ring camera to help get a better recording at night. The pictures show the camera at night without any light, during the day and at night with my other non ring solar porch light qith sensor. The ring cam caught a possum walking in our back yard. Without the additional light it gets really grainy and hard to see. I have the same driveway cam see day and night pics. Hands down, love the ring apps. Watch videos of the various settings. They also have a ring community where you can share info like "hey someone tried to break into my car" and actually share footage or just messages. U can see when someone reports occurrences in your neighborhood too.

Easy Install, Easier to use.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Great cameras, especially if you get this 2-camera bundle. I've had wired cameras for several years but never any battery or solar powered ones before. These ring cameras are incredible during their setup, install and daily use. Being able to mount these virtually anywhere with just four screws (included in the box) makes the installation quick and easy. I currently have these watching the front door and front yard. Being a first-time Ring product user, the setup for both cameras took maybe 15 min total including making a Ring account. If you're already a ring user, you know the app has many features and settings that easily adjust and personalize the function of these cameras. They have more features than my traditional wired cameras, without the hassle of setting up emails and network ip addresses. Having these Ring cameras has allowed me to obtain color video at night as well as audio with the recordings. I like how easy it was to adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection and the notification frequency. Sure these don't record 24/7 but I don't expect them to. Having the ability to live-view, day or night, in color and with audio is well worth it alone. A major selling point for these cameras is the battery life. No matter what the manufacturer claims, the battery life will always depend on an individual use scenario. Mine being at the front entrance to the house, they do get a little more foot traffic than usual. I've had them last anywhere from 1 month to 3 months depending on how long I have them recording and how many times the lights come on at night. I can see having a secondary battery or even a solar panel improving the time between battery charges. If the batteries or solar panels ever go on sale, I might pick them up to try out. Regardless, I cannot recommend these enough. With an easy installation process and an App that's easier to use, these cameras truly offer great value and peace of mind. The 2-camera bundle is nice for some savings while giving you a wider area of coverage with two cameras. Can't go wrong with Ring.

Ring wires free security camera
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Bought it since got a discount. I have two already installed and this would be the third. In addition, I bought the associated solar panel since I do not have to charge the battery. The solar panel keeps the battery at 100% charge. That has been my experience with the existing other two Ring security cameras. I really like the view that these cameras provide, especially when I am away from home.

It does it's job!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. We installed the spotlight camera in the backyard to watch people approaching the back porch and the said gate. It took a while to get it positioned just right to pick up someone entering the side gate. We also have a tree near the porch which was constantly triggering it from the wind or birds. After much adjustment we finally got it dialed in. The battery life in the spotlight cam seems shorter so we bought a second battery. It works good now, but we probably need to get a second one or mount it on a pole to get a proper view of all access points, currently there's a blind spot behind it.

Really nice with a few kinks
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Really nice, but the night vision dosen't work as well as the day at picking people up. I have a streetlight and at night it won't pick up people walking the road like the day. (Picture is nice though). But if they come 1/4 of the way in my yard it will pick them up. It may just be a settimg. It lets you make a fence it watches for. Also I have it set to go off, when it picks up people. Also it has a bit of latency by about 10 seconds to notify that there is someone there. Which may be my internet wifi coverage. Spotlight is bright, but if you really want to light the yard up. Then I suggest getting the camera with flood lights.

Great Camera Setup Needs Clarity
Posted .I agree with the previous poster most issues in these reviews are people wanting something for nothing. You need to familiarize yourself with Wifi mainly. Almost every issue I have read in reviews can be avoided simply fixing your crappy wifi, Not getting alerts, black screen, pixelating, delays in recording etc. Just because the cam has some wifi reaching it doesnt mean a thing. Its outside and the average home's wifi is too weak. Unless it is 5-10ft away. I too had all the issues stated here until we had to replace our router. (nothing to do with the camera). The new router was installed closer to the camera then we had to add the camera and this solved most issues. The videos are in color, and if installed properly not too high you get perfect facial pictures. If you have it pointed towards trees or plants you get too many alerts. The app lets you choose the alert frequency. Move the camera around, experiment. My cam is mounted aprox. 6ft high for clarity I will post a photo. Sure a bad guy could damage it but by the time they reach it the video is already saved to the cloud vs installing it higher out of reach but not seeing the bad guys face only an angled head shot. Explore the app. You can set the camera to turn on the light at night when motion is triggered or not. It is very very bright. I think the big issue here is the Ring Company not going into better detail in the installation. You def. need to check wifi signal for any wifi camera system. Photo is a screenshot taken from Ring video at night with the spotlight . There is no additional lighting on. Motion zones set to 3/4 and installed at 6' high. (yes that is remainder of yard sale not put away yet lol) Cons: The battery door needs to be re-designed. It is extremely hard to close properly. By design they say however it is a huge issue.

Great camera
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This is my first wireless ring camera, the setup was super easy (as always) and just like my wired cameras I get a great image and all the same features. I was in need of a camera to watch my kids clubhouse and hardwiring was not an option, I am very satisfied with my wireless camera.

Q: QuestionHello, Can the wireless spot light camera be powered by 120ac outlet?
Asked by Fishhawk.
- A:Answer Yes 1) I bought four of the wireless (battery version). So far satisfied with performance (some glitchy stuff, but seems to be settling out) -- but mostly because I intended to connect them to the AC power to keep the batteries charged, relying on the batteries if should the AC go off. To do that, I called your help desk and asked, what is the specs for the barrel connector socket on the back (needed to select an AC to 5V DC wall adapter with the appropriate barrel connector). First they asserted it was impossible (recommended the wired one), then after I pointed out the solar panel has to plug in somewhere, they denied knowing anything about the specifications for the socket on the back. Totally oblivious and unhelpful 2) I got out my calipers and measured and confirmed the barrel connector socket on the back is 3.5 mm x 1.35 mm -- so I bought AC to 5V USB wall adapters and USB to barrel connector (3.5 mm x 1.35mm) cables on amazon and they're doing a fine job keeping the batteries charged up.

Q: QuestionI bought the 2 pack. Came with 2 batteries but looks like each camera holds 2 battery packs? Am I missing something? DO the batteries come charged? I installed both cameras and one camera is dead after a day and a half? Worried I have defective camera?
Asked by RACHEL.
- A:Answer We purchased same 2 pack and it does only came with one battery for each camera and can use two if purchase another one. The batteries do not come charged you have to charge them up. It took 2 days for ours to completely charge up. We have had them up fo two weeks and still have a little less then 3/4 battery left.

Q: QuestionKansas City how long does it take to charge the batteries for the first time? I've had one plugged into my phone so fast charger for 18 plus hours and the orange light is still on indicating that it's charging.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer My first charge yesterday took approximately 6 hours using the usb wire and an adapter plugged into an outlet in the house. My biggest issue was getting the WiFi to connect to the Ring WiFi extender which was only 5 feet away from the unit outside. It finally connected but I’m not sure I could depend on it for Security. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionSince these are cameras & battery powered do you have to have your exterior flood lights or porch light on for it to record? I don't know if it has any type of self illumination. I live in a condo & can't have the large 2 floodlight with camera option.
Asked by Suetoo.
- A:Answer Hi Stuetoo, Great question. Your Floodlight Cam lights will turn on when motion is detected, however, you do have the option to manually turn your Floodlight Cam lights off and on through the Ring App. Additionally, our Floodlight Cam has a Night Vision feature which enables you to be able to see activity that is occurring at night without the lights on. Q: QuestionCan the outside camera play the various alert tones? I can hear them on my phone but not from the camera. I would like to be able to play the siren or the barking dogs from the actual camera for intruders to hear. Is this possible?
Asked by LR.
- A:Answer Yes you can play the siren on the camera itself from a button in the app, you can also speak through it from your phone, but not play the dog barking or chime sounds.
