A note about me: I hadn't seen the movie before purchasing the BluRay/DVD/Digital Copy combo. I watched the BluRay disc and, as a result, all of my comments below will reflect the BluRay content unless otherwise noted. MOVIE & CONTENT: The movie is just as good as (if not better than) the first. The animation is crisp and colorful. The music gets you bouncing in your seat. The storyline is intriguing. There are a decent amount of bonus features worth watching (my favorite talks about the different forms of Brazilian music and recording artists within the movie. Highly recommended!) One bonus perk: I was able to redeem several different formats of the digital copy. There are 4 options to redeem the movie code, including iTunes and Flixster/UltraViolet. After going to the website and entering your code, you are given a choice of 4 options/formats for your digital copy. It is possible to simultaneously redeem a digital library copy in Flixster and a downloadable digital copy for iTunes devices using multiple web browsers. Whether that is intended, I'm not sure. But I'm glad I could! My movie/package also came with a secret clue to unlocking hidden levels in Rio's version of Angry Birds. While I don't play the game often, it adds a small value. PACKAGING: The items are in a typical BluRay case, one disc on each side when opened. Feels a little flimsy when opened because of the cutouts located behind the discs (probably to save weight and, therefor, shipping costs) but it's pretty solid when closed. There is no disc for the digital copy... just a piece of paper with a link where you can redeem your code. Also comes with a paperboard sleeve that goes over the case. If you purchase this item in store, watch for rips or wear along the bottom edge of the sleeve: I looked through about 10 before finding one with hardly any damage. (I like to keep my stuff in great condition.) OVERALL: A really cute movie with a good lesson wrapped in a nice multi-format movie bundle. Well worth the money!

As I have stated in my Epic DVD review, I stated that Blu Sky has only made mediocre films for the most part, never excelling with their look, stories or heart, all copycatting from other films. The trend continues with Rio 2 and I'm not even going to mention too much about the film because its pretty much a mix other other better films with some mild humor and, admittedly, beautiful animation and great 3D but other than that, only for kids. The PQ as I stated above, is outstanding, with beautiful colors, details in the back, mid and foregrounds and a 3D that literally pops off your TV. As delicious as the picture is the Samba-spiced sound and terrific use of sounds, music and dialogue mixed beautifully. The extras are once again disappointing, but still nice nonetheless. The 3D BluRay has a 3D deleted scene, with the 2D Blu Ray and DVD containing the bulk of the supplements. There is the same deleted scene, a Rio refresher (Its a rundown of the story so far..), 5 featurettes, art gallery, music video, a multi-language feature, and trailers, with the DVD and UV code rounding out the package. I only recommend this to kids, 3D fanatics or fans of these films, other than that stay away!

Good sequel - Technically, very very good

The film itself is cute and entertaining. It is nice to revisit the universe to see how the story is evolving. Eisenberg shines as the lead again. Hathaway is as good as ever and my only turnoff was how her character was written as wavering in her ideals. The supporting characters are again the show-stealers although the child birds can be a bit annoying at times. Technically the film is stunning. The video and 3D is above average. Releases like this is why I will beat the drum for 3D as it continues to become more & more of a niche thing. I quietly hope for a resurgence but I am not optimistic. I believe that hope squarely rests on the shoulders of Avatar 2. The audio on this release is practically perfect with an incredible array of music & sound. Disc extras are average. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Overall, a nice release and looks good next to part 1 on my shelf.

I originally bought this movie to add to my 3D movie collection having enjoyed the first "Rio". As with most other sequels, I was not expecting it to be as good as the first. I was pleasantly surprised by this effort ... and it may have been the 3D that added the extra stimuli to elevate it to close to the quality of the first movie. The story followed a natural progression from the earlier one and the continued level of perfection with the image clarity & color only bolstered the film (some second effort animated movies drop both in an effort to "crank" out another version only to bring in more money from a sequel). In my opinion, it is not as good (story wise) as the first ... but still a good movie.

The first Rio was okay to me. It was just another cartoon with major movie star voice overs, an overdone plot and some pretty good blends of colors. But it became one of my nephew's favorites so I added it to the library. Rio 2 has a similar, if not more of a, star studded cast with Anne Hathaway (who has a nice voice), Bruno Mars, and Jamie Foxx just to name a few. But the plot is much different as Jewel (Anne Hathaway) gets to unite with her family and Blu is forced to contend with her father and an old crooning acquaintance. Lots and lots of singing in this one. Really...there seem to be a song about every 5 minutes. It was a tad bit funnier too. I must say though, the 3D is spectacular. Two and a half stars for me. A half star above the first one.

It isn't often that a sequel can live up to the original, but Rio 2 manages to pull it off. In this movie, Blue and Jewel take a family trip to the Amazon where they are reunited with Jewel's father who they believed was killed in a forest fire. They also discover they aren't the last of their species as they had feared. There is a whole flock living deep in the Amazon, but the threat of deforestation makes their extinction a real possibility. Blue is anxious to get home, especially since Jewel's father gives him a hard time about being a pet, but Jewel is drawn to the wild that was originally her home. The two of them have to decide what's best their family--stay in the wild or return to their owners and the safety of their home in Rio.

I was opposed to getting a gas range, I just prefer electric *gasp*, but my husband talked me into it. I have been converted, I am surprised at how much I actually love it! Simmering is not an issue with this range (and we haven't even purchased the correct cookware for it, still using old electric cooktop cookware) I would give it 5 stars but it's only been 2 weeks and I've only cooked small meals. Hoping it can keep up with the holiday feasts. We will see. Preheats fast, has quick boil for large pots, bridge for pancakes and oven seems to heat very evenly! The best part... No wobbly pots and pans! I was afraid of that since we have 2 kids but the dang thing is very sturdy all around. Seriously an awesome range.

I loved Rio as did my children and Rio II is not different. This time Blue is a father to 3 rambunctious chicks which have no real world experience and their mom wants them to be wild and not domesticated pets. When their humans don't come home, they take off into the Amazon along with their friends and of course that evil Cockatoo (no idea why a Australian bird is in Brazil) finds them and is bent on exacting revenge. Another wonderful movie with great music and dazzling colors. Oh and Bruno Mars plays the part of the childhood boyfriend who is still smitten with with his first girlfriend.
