Outstanding.

Great mix of old and new....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.his really doesn't sound too much like the Coal Chamber that I'm sure we all love but rather a hybrid of Coal Chamber and Devildriver. Being a personal fan of Devildriver, I really dig the sound. It's almost like Devildriver ate Coal Chamber and gained a supernatural Nu Metal Groove. It's a newer and heavier sound that really, to me at least, feels like a great blend of Coal Chamber and Devildriver. Overall I can see fans of Coal Chamber being turned off this one because of the different sound but for me, I can see myself jamming to this for a long time. Really digging it.

Still got it!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a huge fan of Coal Chamber I was more than excited to hear about their new release and VERY surprised that after all these years, Coal Chamber picked up right where they left off. This album is great for returning fans as well as those unfamiliar with Coal Chamber due to their hiatus. If you want an album to just turn up loud and rock out to this will not disappoint. Already hoping for and looking forward to another Coal Chamber release.

Great comeback album!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coal Chamber Rivals is one of the best comeback albums to date. This cd/dvd edition is worth every penny for long time fans, collectors and even someone just discovering Coal Chamber. The dvd goes behind the scenes of making the album along with a brief history about the band and their 13 year hiatus and reunion. Coal Chamber fans old and new will not be disappointed with this product.

Nothing Revolutionary, But Very Fun Nonetheless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coal Chamber returns with a new album. How does their sound stand up to today? Well, it's definitely a decent outing. This will NOT blow your mind by any means, but the songs just have decent hooks that make you want to nod your head. I'd imagine that these songs would do great in a live setting. In my opinion, the first half of the album is VERY solid, but the 2nd half is where the album starts to drift off into less memorable songs. It's not that the songs are bad, but it's just that they don't stack up to the first half. Highlights for me are: "I.O.U. Nothing", "Suffer In Silence", "Bridges You Burn". I gave it a 3 mostly just because the 2nd half didn't have anywhere near as much momentum as the 1st half. Also, the music is not very intricate if you're looking for some sensational musicianship. The drumming is excellent, but everything else is pretty basic. I was kind of surprised that Dez's vocals on this album resemble a performance on a Devildriver album, which is kind of disappointing since he used to actually sing in this band. There's definitely things to enjoy on this album, but it's certainly not for everyone.

Excellent CD!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great way for Coal Chamber to make a come back to the music world. I love the new songs, they have influences from the other three albums but they have definitely advanced in their skills. Dez has learned a lot vocally from being in Devildriver and you can hear it.

Cross between Devildriver and Coal Chamber
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This album doesn't have the same creep factor that the previous albums have (especially the first 2 albums); its a little more straight forward like Devildriver, but still has the heavy, sludgy Coal Chamber riffs. This is by no means a bad thing. Being a Devildriver fan as well I think its a good blend. Its definitely worth a listen.
