Robin Hood is one of the first animated films produced by the Walt Disney Company after Walt Disney's death in 1967. For the film, the studio's animators took the Disney tradition of adding human-like animal sidekicks to established tales (Cinderella, Pinnochio) a step further by making Robin Hood's legendary characters creatures themselves. Robin Hood (Brian Bedford) is a wily fox; Maid Marian (Monica Evans) is a beautiful vixen; Little John (Phil Harris) is a burly bear; Friar Tuck (Andy Devine) is a soft-spoken badger; the Sheriff of Nottingham (Pat Buttram) is a greedy wolf; and the scheming Prince John (Peter Ustinov) is a sniveling, groveling, thumb-sucking undersized lion with a serpent sidekick named Sir Hiss (Terry Thomas). The film begins after Prince John and Sir Hiss have tricked the true King into leaving the country on a phony crusade. With the help of the Sheriff of Nottingham, they tax the life out of Nottingham's peasants, leaving them all penniless but with the courageous Robin Hood as their only hope.~Aubry Anne D'Arminio

Robin Hood [40th Anniversary Edition] [DVD]
My children watched this on VHS and loved it. So I had to purchase it for my four grandchildren who are moving to Atlanta from Dallas soon. They also have a DVD player in their "Mom Mobile" and love watching movies while traveling. This will be a great way to remember their grandmother as they watch it over and over.
WOW….. I was blown away that I was able to pick this up(not just 1, but I picked up ALL 3 there), for $7.99!!! It is, like pretty much all the Disney Animated movies, an FANTASTIC FAMILY MOVIE!!!
Oh, and don’t want to forget to mention that this was for the BluRay, AND DVD disc formats, BUT the Digital Code as well!!! I’ve given the complete Disney/Pixar movies collections to both of my children for “the Grandkids”!!! and Best Buy has pretty much been my Sole Source for the lot of them!!!
This is one of the greatest movies ever made, and that opinion comes from a long-standing TCM addict. It shows Disney animation at its finest and is filled with great songs (one by Johnny Mercer!) and lots of funny lines ("Double the taxes. Triple the taxes. Squeeze every drop from those insolent, musical peasants".) By the way, my age is 70, not 7, and I am not ashamed to admit that my wife and I have watched it at least 20 times.
It has been a very long time since I’ve seen Disney’s Robin Hood that when I saw this copy on the shelf, I had to get it. While the animation is a bit dated (good for it’s time) the story is still a good one, And watching it brought on a wave of nostalgia due to the voice talents of some of yesteryear’s great comedians. Well worth the purchase.
