Sept. 27, 2011: The entire Pink Floyd catalog has been dusted off and digitally remastered. Fourteen albums spanning the entire career of arguably one of the greatest, most well-known, and most influential rock bands in history have been re-released with the utmost quality and clarity in sound ever before heard by the human ear. And while every music store everywhere will be carrying them, only Best Buy has the exclusive sampler CD. Surely, this CD is a deal and will have a choice selection of Pink Floyd tracks for both the newcomer and the long-time, right? Wrong. Only 6 songs in length, the $9.99 price tag is a slap in the face of not only whomever buys this CD but to the body of work created by the band. If the price was more along the lines of $4.99 it would be a different story. My suggestion: Don't buy this CD. Instead, spend your $9.99 purchasing one of the remastered albums.

I bought this because I'm a Pink Floyd completist. And while a couple more songs would have been nice, there are a few interesting selections that even the hardcore Floyd fan probably hasn't heard before. The first three tracks aren't really anything special: the 2011 remaster versions of Money, Wish You Were Here, and Another Brick in the Wall, Part II. All great songs, of course, but they are standard offerings on any Pink Floyd compilation. The next three is where it starts to get interesting. There's a live version of Us and Them from Wembley 1974, which comes from the now-available Experience and Immersion editions of DSOTM. Then there are the two real gems here, an alternate version of Have a Cigar with Waters on vocals (!) and a demo version of Another Brick in the Wall, Part I. I believe both of these come from the future Experience/Immersion editions of WYWH and The Wall, which won't be released until November 2011 and February 2012, respectively. So yes, there's only six songs, but when you consider that two of them are otherwise unreleased versions, this starts to look like a better value. I consider it ten bucks well spent.

Very unnecessary. For the "money", more music should have been included as well as more unusual tracks. Overall disappointing.
