Not bad -- not bad.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWell, I bought the Samsung 3600 40" LED T.v and then a Samsung C5500 Blu-Ray Player. The player itself wasn't bad -- but didn't play a couple of movies. Paid the t.v off right away; the fiance and I wanted to upgrade the sound (because these t.v's aren't known for their sound.) So, we went in and looked at a few units. This came with an upgrade from our old blu-ray player (which made it seem nicer) and it was 1000 watts (which is really neat.) Now, I've NEVER set up a home theater system in my life, and I know that cables would be a pain for some people, however, this was probably the easiest thing. I'll say this, on the back of the unit, the speakers get plugged into it (it's color coded and it's labeled which speakers get plugged into which port) and you just match up the cable color to the correct speaker. It's honestly not a big deal, and it's easier once you follow those steps. The only flaw is -- the player is a receiver -- it's gigantic (had to put it on top of my stand, rather than underneath on a shelf, but I have a small stand -- so yeah.) The speakers aren't heavy at all, they're not the best to look at, however, it took me literally 15 minutes to set everything up -- literally 15 minutes. Also a small bonus -- it comes with an I-Pod dock, which I tested with the band Four Year Strong (very kick drum heavy ) and the subwoofer made it seem like I was in front of the kick drum at a show -- thudded the room.) The start of the system is easy, because once you've hooked it up to your t.v via the HDMI cable, and you turn the power button on the unit, you go through the steps of setting it up, and once you've set it up, you have to plug in the mic that comes with the unit to the front and allow it to collaborate itself. Once you're done with that, you can go to the "settings" menu and change the settings (recommended) for your speakers. All speakers go up to 6 decibels -- which may or may not be good. It will change the volume of your t.v and the blu-ray player will automatically be used as your volume source. Watched two action movies already (The Dark Knight and Die Hard on Blu-Ray) and all I could say is -- WOW. This is in a small bedroom, and it sounds really good (15x15 room) and it has a lot of punch in condo we live in. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to put the unit in a small bedroom; the unit is EASY to set up (I did it with out directions) and I've NEVER set up a home theater system before in my life. Just make sure to set the speakers in the right area's (I.E your center speaker counsel should be above or just below the t.v, your smaller surround speakers should be in the back of the room, woofer on the floor etc.) and make sure you look at the back of the unit to find where the right colors/port names are -- and this should be a breeze!

Great product, but need to buy extra equipment
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this product a few days ago. The set up wasn't too hard (and i'm a female). I would recommend this to anyone, HOWEVER you will need to buy additional stuff to get the whole experience. I don't know why companies just don't include the additional products in the box, to save you the hassle of having to go back to Best Buy to buy the extra equipment. You will need: 1) HDMI cord. Hook this from the blu-ray to your tv to watch movies. 2) Optical Digital cord. Hook this from your blu-ray to your cable box, so you can get surround sound watching regular tv. Without this cord, you won't be able to have surround sound on your cable/satellite viewing. 3) I haven't connected the internet yet, but from what I heard you will need to buy something for this as well.

Has Small Issues but Overall Happy
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWe're a Samsung family. We've gotten Samsung products, and have been extremely pleased with the way all of them have worked. We purchased this blu-ray home theater system about a month ago. The buttons on top all work perfectly except the "eject" button. We have to touch off to the side to get a response from it. Somewhat an annoyance, but nothing to return the system over. We occasionally have run into the system not playing a disk, but the disk will play in our other system. It just says "loading" for a long time, then reads "no disk" when there is a perfectly good, unscratched disk in the system. We noticed this on two different blu-rays that we have at home. Sometimes it works without any issues, but sometimes it takes some fighting, and my husband's patience gets worn relatively quickly. The sound works great, and the look of the speakers is acceptable. We plan on purchasing something in the future to make the rear speakers wireless, but for the time being, they work perfectly fine with the wires. Set up wasn't too terribly difficult, either. I guess it's all just relative. Overall, we're very happy with the system. I would definitely recommend it to others!

Great System
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have had this system for a month or so now. I read the reviews prior to making my purchase and noticed some people stated it was a bit complicated to setup. I disagree. My previous system was a mess, this was so easy to setup. You do have to use the cables that are provided but I found a way around that to use my current wireless receiver for the rear speakers. The system has a very nice and sleek look. The sound quality is great! I don't have a large house but my dog definitely goes crazy barking when I'm watching a movie. I think if you're in a market for a somewhat reasonably priced system, this one is a good choice.

Good Product
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt took me some time to set up the product . I Had to buy a wireless stick to connect to the internet and this does bring up the price. Most other products come with the stick. They also have a router for the two back speakers if you want them wireless and you can only buy the Samsung brand not sold in stores. The sound is very good. The device does take time to get familar with. Picture is very clear. Love the fact that it updates on its own and it has netflix. Bought this product because I do have a Samsung; t.v., camera, and cell phone, and never had problems with any of them..... Just be patient when dealing with this product it takes some time to figure out...

NOT wireless. Complicated network setup, but LOVE
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI reviewed all the Bestbuy.com reviews to try to make an educated purchase for a surround sound system. I wanted a wireless system with Internet capability, and thought that was what I was getting. Turns out, the wireless is not part of what you buy. You have to purchase a separate wireless "kit" that adds more than $150 and Best Buy doesn't even carry this! Even then, it isn't really wireless then...it just removes the wires from the receiver to the back speakers. There are still needed wires between the back two speakers and an added back receiver. So we are just dealing with the wires. On the networking, it took a call to the Samsung customer service person and >30 minutes on the phone to set this up. CONFUSING. I could have never done it on my own, and I am a very technically savvy, But, now that I have it connected, it is great! Another down side was that you have to buy extras that don't come with the system to actually set it up. It does not come with an optical cable to connect your cable box to the system so you can run your television programs through the system. And it doesn't come with HDMI cables toallow high definition viewing on a DVD or Blu-Ray through your TV. I didn't know this when I purchased the system, and it was a pain to make an extra trip to get these things, but now that it is all set up, we really do LOVE the system. I would recommend it, but just know that you're in for some work and extra purchases to make it a sweet setup! One last mention is that the back speakers don't seem real strong.

Wonderful overall Blu-raysurround sound system
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhile a friend did recommend this system to me, as he was very happy with the product, I was very weary based on a few reviews that I read on this and other web-sites - specifically the alledged 'difficulty' of setting up this particular system. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and began the set-up process. Not only are the wires color-coded to the back of the Blu-ray box, but each speaker (on the bottom) is also color-coded to the wire to the Blu-ray box. I had this system up and running in less than 30 minutes. For my home, this system is perfect and the sound is amazing.

Best Looking System for the Price
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendLike many, I spent a few weeks surfing reviews for Blue Ray Home Theater Systems and finally pulled the trigger on this one this weekend. WOW! I am pleasantly surprised on many aspects of this unit. I have a fairly large theater room and the sound that comes from this one is off the hook. The speakers look and sound great. The blue ray player is better than any other offering. The controls are touch screen and the boot up is very fast. Physically setting up the system is easy. Setting up the device connection in order to view photos/videos from my home PC (Server) has been a bit challenging. Little great features like hitting the power button on the player automatically turns on my TV and then sets it to the proper input is awesome (this is a non-Samsung TV).
