Perfect with the Samsung tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds good. More than plenty for our home. I used to have a lot of stereo equipment, but I need to simplify. This fit that bill and has made me happy. Bluetooth cuts extra wires and it integrates seamlessly with the tv. Was worried that it would be tall and block the image when sitting in front of the 8000 series, but it's just short enough that it doesn't unless I am on the floor with my daughter. Very happy overall.

Excellent sound quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the sound, love the look. Lots of features. Problem was that when connecting my new Samsung TV to this soundbar using HDMI, it would power off when the TV did, but not back on because when it turned on, it would chance the inout to . I went crazy until I found this in AVS FORUMS: "Samsung TVs do not support the "auto-on" feature, only "auto-off". This complaint has shown up many times on the various threads here, so you're not alone." However, after researching more, I found a solution and have posted a screenshot of it with this review.

Not my first Samsung Soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second Samsung sound bar I've had. I had the first one for a couple of years. In the end it only worked when it was physically set a certain way. To be fair, it was a floor model so who knows if it was refurbished or dropped. I thought that had good sound until I bought this one. Yes, it's pricey. (I'm not telling my husband how much.# I guess you get what you pay for. Much clearer and sharper sound. I like the look of the bar better too. Much better! No place for my grandson's finger to go or distracting display. Instead of putting the bar on the shelf below I set this one in front of the TV. It sits about 2 inches below the TV #55 inch Samsung) so it doesn't interfere or get in the way of the TV's sensors. You barely notice it's there because of the color and thinness of it. I had a hard time with trying to get the TV and sound bar to link. I like using the TV's speakers with the sound bar. A lot easier on the old model but I figured it out so both are synched to raise or lower the volume on either the sound bar remote or my cable/TV remote. I hooked everything up myself. I'm a 60 year old woman. It might have taken me longer than somebody who is more techy but I did it myself. I did have to order a different kind of HDMI cable. The Rockfish brand heads makes for a very tight fit. The subwoofer is larger than the last one I had. Good bass sound. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I attached a picture of my setup.

Excellent With Samsung Smart TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this sound bar to complement my 2013 Samsung UN506400AF 50” smart TV. The HW-F550 met my expectations, and then some. Set-up with this particular TV was effortless. The first time I turned on the sound bar, a dialog box appeared on the TV asking if I wanted to connect via SoundShare (Samsung’s implementation of Bluetooth). I hit OK and after a few seconds, TV audio started playing through the sound bar. It was that simple, and no audio cables were required. I then experimented with HDMI (ARC) and optical audio cables. These inputs worked equally well. To my ears, there is no difference in sound quality between HDMI (ARC), optical audio and Bluetooth. However, there are real differences in user experience among these three connection methods. For me, the clear all-around winner was HDMI (ARC). Only HDMI (ARC) allows me to use my choice of TV remote, cable box remote or sound bar remote to accomplish all of the following: * Power on the sound bar simultaneously with the TV with no delay before the sound bar kicks in * Turn off the sound bar simultaneously with the TV * Control the volume of the sound bar The HW-F550 mounts to a wall easily with the supplied bracket. Cable connections are very constricted between the unit and the wall, but there *is* enough space to run the power cord and any audio cable you’re using. Unfortunately, the HW-F550 uses a bulky power transformer that I was barely able to wedge into the recessed cable compartment behind the TV. Phooey on you, Samsung! The sound output is amazing. I’m no audiophile, but I can report with confidence that there is a night-and-day difference between the TV audio and the sound bar audio. If I had to put my finger on it, I’d say the biggest benefit is greatly increased presence - you feel like you’re part of the soundstage instead of being off in the distance. And it’s much easier now for me to make out whispered dramatic dialog in TV shows. The wireless subwoofer pumps out plenty of bass, which can be controlled by the sound bar remote. Quantity is not always quality, however, and I would characterize the bass as being a bit more muddy than tight. The subwoofer paired automatically with the sound bar proper from the get-go, and I’ve only had to manually pair it once. The subwoofer is responsible for more than just the lowest frequencies. If you unplug the subwoofer from the wall when the sound bar is playing, the slim bar by itself sounds positively tinny. Put the two components together, though, and you’ve got a powerhouse! This sound bar really shines if you use its Bluetooth capability to play music from your phone. When used in this fashion as a wireless Bluetooth speaker system, the HW-F550’s output is much richer than TV audio - and much richer, IMO, than any standalone Bluetooth speaker in the HW-F550’s price range. Both the slim bar and the subwoofer are stylish, heavy and well-constructed. The visual feedback on the bar in response to key presses on the remote is very helpful. I’m extremely satisfied with this product.

Insignia sound is now loud enough and clear
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was happy to find this soundbar at Best Buy. It was fairly expensive , but not nearly as much as some of the other brands. Also, the low profile fits below the TV screen and is not at all distracting while viewing. The subwoofer is wireless and does not need to be placed right next to the TV cabinet, a definite plus.

good move
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this sound bar and subwoofer because I read that the tv audio was not the best. I have never owned a 2.1 setup but this is great. I have it in my bedroom and the audio quality is wonderful for the price. The bluetooth connection is great . I have a samsung smart 3d tv and 3d blue ray player and set up was so easy when you connect with bluetooth. Its not a full surround system but it great for bedrooms. Would recomend this product.

a nice soundbar but comes up short on subwoofer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first soundbar that I have ever purchased. I had purchased a Samsung TV, Samsung DVD BluRay 3D player, a Sumsung keyboard, a Samsung Webcam for the TV and this Samsung soundbar. Easy setup... TV - beautiful picture but in my opinion needs some other sound source, easy setup with Samsung DVD BluRay 3D player, optional keyboard that I purchased for ease of use on internet, YouTube, etc. Webcam works fine. This is my opinion of this soundbar... easy setup... some nice features I really liked, some nice integration... but, quality of the subwoofer for dynamic bass sounds is lacking - Samsung needs to work on this a bit. I ended up returning it and going with an upgraded Klipsch sound bar and woofer that sounds much better in my opinion than the Samsung although it did cost a little bit more. I do not regret upgrading to a different soundbar. I know that sound is a matter of perception... At least for me, in spite of a nice remote and some sound features that were nice with Samsung, I did upgrade and now have the dynamic bass sounds I was looking for. There are many people on these reviews that are very happy with this soundbar.... It depends upon what you are looking for. It definitely is an upgrade in sound quality over the Samsung TV but if you are looking for more of a dynamic sound in the subwoofer category, I believe an upgrade may be worth considering... my opinion only. I exchanged in for Klipsch soundbar which cost a bit more and am mostly happy with that given an issue of two - maybe I am too discerning... So in my opinion, this soundbar delivers better sound than the Samsung TV, but if you are wanting more dynamic sound in music, DVD Blu Ray 3D players, etc., read the reviews carefully. You may want to upgrade to a better soundbar... I did not want to throw more money into a soundbar but I was happy I did. There was a noticable difference in sound quality for me at least. Sound can be a matter of perception. You will need to decide what you are looking for. All soundbars sound differenly once you get them setup in your home. There are a lot of choices out there and that adds to the difficulty in choosing the best one for you needs.... I however did manage to give this a rating of 4 for this sound system - maybe because some the features and a good remote but the real deficiency of this sound system is the bass subwoofer...

Q: QuestionDigital Optical CableIs there a Digital Optical Cable included with this soundbar or is that a separate purchase? I've heard that the best way to connect a soundbar to a TV is through a digital optical cable, so I'm wondering if I need to purchase that separately? Also, Is it better to connect a TV directly to the soundbar using Digital Optical Cable or HDMI?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer A digital optical cable would be a separate purchase, but the cables are not very expensive. You can connect using an analog input (3.5mm), which is good for older televisions that use an RCA audio output port. Digital optical is the easiest, and single cable solution to connecting your audio bar to your television, and will take the audio that come into the TV and send it out to your audio bar. HDMI can get tricky in this situation, so unless you're familiar with ARC (or Audio Return Channel) with HDMI, or you know how to send audio from your TV using the available ARC option on your TV, the digital optical audio option may give you the least amount of set-up issues. In case you do want to try ARC, this audio bar supports it - but your television must also support ARC in order for audio to transfer from the TV to your audio device. Q: QuestionIs this louder than the new Samsung M7 Speaker? What would be recommended between both of your products. Can it be used without the subwoofer and will it be just as loud without it. I am interested in both but only want one. I want to use this for my Samsung 7100 tv and for outside my home.
Asked by Joey.
- A:Answer Joey, You can use the audio bar without the subwoofer, but you probably won't get as rich of a deep bass audio as a result, so you will lose some of the audio without the sub. Both units are great units, and the M7 has some great features for portability and can support a wide range of devices. For audio quality, however, we'd really recommend going into the store to hear them for yourself. That will be the best test to know what you prefer, and which one will fit your needs best.
