    I did an enormous amount of research before purchasing the Samsung French door RF28HDEDBSR fridge. I also tracked the price for 6 months before purchasing. I love the storage and the configuration! Install went smooth. BUT shortly after we noticed that the left fridge door would not stay open. You are trying to get something out, and the door slams closed on your shoulder. Or you have your hands full with a heavy container - open the door -and by the time you get the container off the counter the door has slammed closed! Called for service - he worked on it for 15 min and couldn't figure it out. He said other models had some sort of catch to hold the door. He said he would talk to his supervisor and then get back to me. It was before the Christmas holiday so I said - ok lets deal with this after Jan. 1. He also worked on the other problem - we had noticed the opening for the freezer drawer was small. It was not pulling out all the way. I went to a store and measured the model and the opening from fridge to the gasket on the drawer was 18 inches and mine was 12!! Also, the door always squeaks - not the first time someone opens it, but if it is opened again within a few minutes - it squeaks loudly! He stuck his screwdriver in the rail and did something so it opened fully. He said the installers messed something up. He did not call me back in January as we had discussed! I called his cell - no response. I had to call service again - they told me my ticket was closed! I told her the problem had not been fixed. She set up a call. The Tech was supposed to call me 10 min. prior so I could leave work to meet him. He didn't call and my son let him in. The tech raised the front legs and left. When I got home I was very upset to see what had happened. My fridge is way off level! Yes the door will stay open - but barely - you really have to stand there and balance it or it will close on you. I called service to complain and she set up a 3rd call! This time he called me so I left work. He refused to make it level - said that was the only way to keep the door open. I expressed concern that all the instructions say the fridge has to be level - I don't want a problem with the compressor or some other part to develop because it is not installed correctly. The Tech got angry and left. I didn't even get to ask about the freezer drawer which again wouldn't pull out all the way - I have to pull on the handle using a lot of strength every couple of weeks to get the drawer to pull out to it's full width of 18"! Because of that experience I didn't call for service again until just before the warranty was set to expire. The freezer drawer still had the same issue of not pulling out all the way, squeeking loudly - plus I notice condensation building up on the items in the top tray. Also I am still concerned by the left door/leveling issues. The tech called before he came so I could once again take time off work. He looked at the drawer and said the rails needed to be replaced. He had to order them. He again said nothing can be done about the left door - leave it unlevel. Service called me the following week to set up another appt. so I again had to take time off work! He replaced the rails and it looked fine - pulled out, no condensation and did not squeak - UNTIL THE NEXT DAY! Started squeaking, rails don't fully extend and there is condensation! I just measured it - the opening is only 14". It should be 18" I am extremely disappointed in this fridge. I did buy an extended warranty and I guess I will be using it and taking more time off work to deal with this.

    In a major kitchen remodel, we're replacing appliances and chose Samsung because of prior product references/reviews. BestBuy's price matching & special financing helped seal the deal too. However, had I the chance to select something over again, I would choose something other than this model of refrigerator. Originally thinking that the split door/bottom freezer design was a great idea, in every day use I am not crazy about the french door style though the door-in-door feature is very useful. POSITIVES: cools quickly & evenly; very well lit inside the refrigerator; flexible shelving (though I had a hard time figuring out were to put the eggs); door-in-door feature. NEGATIVES: stainless steel facade is impossible to keep clean, finger print, & spot free; for a very large fridge, it doesn't seem to hold as much as my smaller side-by-side Whirlpool sitting in the garage now; bottom freezer and drawer are awkward to use; there is no light in the freezer, so if you happen to open the refrigerator doors and the freezer it'll not be lighted (the light for the freezer is actually in the bottom of the refrigerator doors). The in-door ice-dispenser/water-dispenser drips after use and leaves a puddle of water in the catch area; cannot reach in to the ice bucket and grab a few cubes (it all comes through the door, or not at all); the door-in-door & split door design lends itself to condensation betwixt the doors, so puddles form at the top of the freezer door; make CERTAIN the installers/deliverers level the appliance and get the doors to line up (we had them out three times to get it right). Much of this is my own fault as I should have done additional research on the brand and the model/style, but I cannot say that it was a good $2,400+ spent for a fridge. In fact, I had planned to take this refrigerator with us when I move, but I may sell it with the house. I can say that had I to do it over again, I would not have bought this model -- probably would have stayed with a side-by-side, non stainless steel -- though I am happy with the other Samsung brand appliances we bought (so far).

    My wife and I looked at a lot of units before purchasing this offering from Samsung, we caught it on sale for Labor Day, saved some coin, and got the one we'd both wanted but just couldn't justify buying at "regular price". We opted for the delivery and installation from BestBuy since we have a split-level home and I just didn't want to drag this behemoth up the stairs to our front door. Delivery was within the allotted timeframe and once the guys got this monster in the house, they discovered what we already knew... The 6ft waterline (which was required to be purchased for delivery and installation) wasn't going to work because the waterline for our ice maker is approximately 15ft long wrapping around our kitchen cabinets from the sink to the fridge so.... we'll be returning the water line for a $35.00 refund but it was worth the temporary purchase for the delivery. Emptying our old "apartment-sized" 18cu/ft fridge as soon as the delivery guys called to say they'd be at our home in 20 minutes, we refilled this new Samsung as soon as the power and water were connected and we saved the ice in the ice maker tray from the old fridge to put into the bottom freezer of this unit to help cool the freezer while the refrigerator cooled to temp. The BestBuy team moved our empty old unit downstairs in the garage so we can use it for extra cold storage with sodas and other such items and we activated the "power cool" and "power freeze" options of the new Samsung unit to chill the new fridge as quickly as possible hoping we wouldn't have to go buy a whole new list of perishable items during the transition to the Samsung. We have a lot of fish and fresh vegetables that can be very temperamental to temperature changes so I was a little concerned.The Samsung unit reached temperature before the ice we saved from our old fridge even had the chance to melt and the items that were once in the freezer of our old unit (which usually chilled to around 0 degrees) we're at a solid -8 degrees Fahrenheit when we kicked the "power options" off. This is a beautiful unit, my wife couldn't be happier and of course a "happy wife makes for a happy life" so I love the unit as well.

    We loved the refrigerator for the first year and 2 months. The flexibility of the storage is excellent and the showcase door is a great feature that saves us from opening the entire refrigerator door and letting all the cold air out. We probably use the showcase door 2-3 times for every time we open the entire refrigerator. Unfortunately at about the 14 month mark, our refrigerator started to make a large clunking sound and loud spinning noise and stopped cooling. Perfect timing because the warranty expired at 1 year. Contacted Samsung customer support via their website, took 3 days to receive a phone call, which I wasn't able to answer due to being in a meeting. The voicemail left said sorry we couldn't reach you, we're closing your ticket as resolved, call us if you are still having problems. FWIW, Samsung's "24 hour" response time is "24 business hours" so think 2-3 days, not one. Ended up calling Samsung the next day. They said they would schedule a repair. 3 days later I received an email saying a repair was schedule for 3 days after that. During the interim we scheduled to have a local appliance repair company look at the refrigerator in case it was a non-warranty item. They concluded the compressor need to be replaced, which is still under Samsung's warranty, $130 bill. Fast forward 3 days and Samsung's contracted repair person comes. They seemed utterly unfamiliar with Samsung refrigerators and was walked through the whole process over the phone. They determined that it was an inverter board and charge us $130 for the call. We scramble and are able to find a replacement part ($150) in our area and have it installed the next day. Does not resolve the issue, as a matter of fact, symptoms are identical regardless of if the new or old board is installed. Clearly, Samsung's technician miss diagnosed the problem. We're now going on 12 days with out a refrigerator we've now spent about $400 and our fridge still doesn't work. You can count the Samsung warranty as essentially worthless unless you can afford to go 2+ weeks without a refrigerator. You can count me as someone who will never buy a Samsung product again.

    My New Samsung Showcase Fridge is noisy :(

    First of all the fridge is beautiful which prompted me to buy a floor sample which was in perfect condition. It apparently was a return for not fitting as everything inside was intact with factory seals and foam. Outside was still with factory wrapper as well. No Dents. Well, I got it delivered and in about 3 weeks the compressor would make this loud noise at start that lasted several minutes and then would be a bit more quite afterwards. Needless to say I called and Best Buy was super helpful and exchanged the fridge with no questions asked and I got another one in a few days. Well, the new one was installed and this one just has a bottom drawer vibration that drives me nuts when the compressor starts. I've tried to level it many times to the best of my ability and have somehow managed to reduce the effect. Now and then it starts again and I have to either push it on the side or adjust the bottom feet to make it go away. I've decided to keep it as it's the second one they bring and I've decided to go straight to Samsung if it gets out of hand. Today I heard a similar noise when the compressor started but was not as bad and went away quickly after so it didn't bother me. I would've never imagined that for the price you pay for these appliances, they'd have any issues like these. Very disappointed in the fridges from Samsung even though I own other equipment which I'm very satisfied with. My old 15 yr old GE fridge is in the garage now and is as quiet as ever...what happened to the quality of these new appliances...Next time I'll stick to GE when I need another appliance.... Everything else in the fridge is working very well, the ice maker, it's cooling well, space is awesome and the freezer is very good. Hope this helps someone spot the issues if it happens to them so they can act on it quickly.... Pete, FL

    I've only had the fridge for a week, but so far it's marvelous. The space is perfect for us, and the freezer is sufficient (this was one of my concerns going from a side-by-side to a drawer freezer. The fridge is quiet in general, the ice cubes do make a bit of a racket when they fall, but I think I'll get used to it and since we use ice rarely, it doesn't fall all that often. My favorite thing is the shelf that "folds up" so I can store tall items like wine. My least favorite thing is that the bins on the left door are extremely small and oddly shaped, leading to some wasted space. However, this is a very minor complaint and I didn't detract a star because I knew what I was getting into, having seen it in the store. I'm pleased with the product. A couple of things to note on the purchasing side: 1) Pro, the fridge went down in price by $200 less than 2 weeks after I bought it, Best Buy refunded the difference directly to my card with no complaint or issue. 2) Con: Sales person did not properly represent installation rules. We were told that it would be no issue to move our existing fridge to the basement by the store sales representative. Installers flatly refused to move it down stairs saying it was a liability issue. Additionally, they almost didn't install the water because "they had never seen water hooked up like that" however, they did eventually figure it out. (My house was built in 2000, not 1900, and it all looked pretty standard to me). 3) Best buy bonus points were also misrepresent by the sales person. I was told that by signing up I would automatically receive 10% of the purchase in bonus points and then I had a choice of an additional 5% or 18 months financing. I chose the 5% for what I thought would be total of 15% (a nice chunk of money for Chistmas gifts) but was informed when I called to find out why only 5% had showed up that the TOTAL would be 10%. I'm going to go argue with a store manager on this one because the sales person should not have told me 15% bonus points and also that the installers would move the existing fridge down stairs.

    In the beginning of the year My family and i were without a fridge for 62 days as we got the run around from Samsung.Was giving the number to a service place that has been out of business for sometime etc... In the beginning of APRIL we were finally giving a refund for our fridge! In search of a new refrigerator we came across one that was in our budget at best buy. but it was a Samsung... Jp the sales man had insured us that if we purchased the geek squad protection we would have no worries! Wouldn't have to deal with Samsung and even geek squad gwould help with food that was ruined What a good deal right? Nope! here we are going on day 5 with no refrigerator and rotten food. Called geek squad was told that they dont service my area! Why did i even pay 150?? and also was told by geek squad Samsung will be sending me a replacement. haha. Called Samsung they said that whoever i spoke to at geek squad had lied to me.. and that they would schedule a service tech.. no service tech...and now waiting on a store credit. supposedly... I have already dealt with Samsung so already knew what to expect. Stock up on ice and ice chest!! I am 25 mins from lake Jackson, purchased the geek squad protection so wouldnt have to deal with samsung , have only had it for a little over 2 months and am living out of an ice chest with 3 kids! why cant something be done!? Why do I just getting told im sorry and passed on to the next person. Its going to be a long weekend ...

    I love this refrigerator. Outwardly it was the same specs LxWxH as our old side by side, but the room in this is sooo much bigger! We removed our full old refrigerator stocking the same food, condiments, and beverages in the new one and it felt empty! This is perfect for the upcoming holidays when there are leftovers galore that we usually can't fit in our fridge. Also, we purchased during Black Friday prices so it was a steal! I find the fridge very quiet despite what other reviews have said; it's just a low soothing hum. Also, I've read other reviews reporting dripping in between water dispensing or ice dispensing. I'm not finding that at all, but we followed instructions from Samsung on YouTube. Once you've installed your new Fridge, there will likely be air bubbles caught in the tube that you have to release by dispensing about 3 gallons of water. It will also clean out your new tubes. Initially, we noticed the dripping too, but once we "primed" the water dispenser, there is no excess dripping or leaking. You will have to repeat a similar procedure when you change your water filter. Just look up "French door Samsung refrigerator" on YouTube and you will find all kinds of useful and troubleshooting short videos directly from the Samsung manufacturer. Fortunately, our contracted Best Buy delivery guys also gave us the same advice. I'd venture to say not all contracted deliverers would know and be able to share this info. Anyway, hope that helps! Love this fridge. Only complaint is there are some narrow shelves around the ice dispenser that we're having trouble finding products to fit. Even butter bars don't fit! In the end, we use some prescription gel tubes that have to be refrigerated there. Going from little room to so much room, I can't really whine. I highly recommend!! Go get it!
