Glad I bought this one after reading many reviews

I compared many refrigerators before buying this one. I have a refrigerator in the kitchen, and a smaller one in my garage for cold drinks and such. When the garage refrigerator started making unusual popping noises, we decided to move the kitchen refrigerator into the garage and get a French door refrigerator for the house. Since I already had a 25.9 cu ft refrigerator, I did not look at any that were smaller than that. We recently had our son, his wife, and their 2 children move in with us for 8 months while their new home is being built, so having the Flex Zone drawer was a great feature for us. Right now, I am using it as a deli and meat drawer, as well as a central zone for the grandkids’ lunchbox items. Since the drawer can be divided up into 4 compartments which can be arranged according to the sizes you need them to be, we made the front left compartment as a “lunch box” area. This keeps all of their lunch box food in one place that is short enough that they can reach everything. I use the front right compartment for deli meats and cheese, and the back 2 compartments are for meat that will be cooked within a couple of days. I keep this drawer at 37 degrees to match my refrigerator since at this point in time, I need more refrigerator room. There are 4 different temperatures that I could set the flex zone drawer to. One is the 37 degrees which is the same temp as the refrigerator section, but the other 3 choices are: 42 degrees for wine and party foods, 33 degrees for cold drinks, and 29 degrees for meat and fish. You can change the temperature of this drawer at any time. Another feature that I really love is the flexible shelf size of the right middle shelf in the main refrigerator section. This is a shelf that can be slid back allowing space to put tall items on the shelf below it. You can still use the back half of the shelf that you slide back.. This is a great benefit for us right now because my husband and I use 2% milk, but my son's family uses whole milk - which means we usually have at least 2 tall containers of milk in the refrigerator and when they get low, we can have 3 or 4 containers. Normally, I would be able to fit all of my taller items in the gallon-sized bin in the door, but while we have more people living here, we need more space for taller things. When our household returns to just the two of us, I will be able to slide this shelf back in place and use it as a full shelf. I like having the flexibility to use it either way. I love the lighting in the refrigerator and freezer. I can see everything in the refrigerator and food in the back doesn’t get forgotten and later thrown out. I’ve noticed that we have much less waste because we can see everything and it gets eaten before it goes bad. I was more than pleased with the amount of light in the freezer section too. Also due the sliding drawer in the freezer, I can easily see all of the contents. In addition, because of its generous size, I was able to fit everything from my old freezer with room to spare. The bottom section has a divider that can be adjusted. I put frozen vegetables on one side, and frozen meats on the other. In the top section, I put bread, bagels, ice cream, and was also able to fit 10 of my daughter-in-laws frozen dinners. I wish I could upload more than 2 photos so that I could show the freezer, but I want to use my 2 photos for the main refrigerator and the flex zone drawer. There is no butter bin, but the top shelf in the door actually holds a LOT more space than any of my older butter bins did, so now it holds all of my butter, cream cheese, horse radish, and small squeeze bottle of lemon and lime. I actually like this one much more. Another feature that I really love is the 2 crisper drawers. I have fruit in one and veggies in the other. The humidity level can be set separately for each drawer. In every other refrigerator I’ve ever owned, I had 2 drawers but one was for fruits/veggies and the other was for meat. I’ve always had a practically empty meat drawer and the fruit/veggie drawer was overflowing and had to put some items on the bottom shelf since one drawer was not large enough. This is the first time I’ve had room for everything! As with anything you buy, there are bound to be a couple of things you would change. First of all, I would like the front to be magnetic and it isn’t. I had a magnetic dry-erase weekly calendar on the front of my refrigerator that was highly used and I had to put it on the side of the refrigerator, where it is slowly being neglected and abandoned. This is a minor concern, however. The other thing I would change would be to put the ice maker in the door like some of the newer French door refrigerators made by other companies have done. The ice maker itself takes up room which shortens the top shelf of the refrigerator. Also, the ice chute takes up room in the door causing one of the shelves below it to be so tiny it is almost unusable. The Flex Zone drawer more than makes up for it though and at this time, Samsung is the only brand that offers it. Lastly, the shelves really aren’t adjustable in such a way that is useful for me. The upper left shelf is bolted onto the ice maker so it can’t be moved. The upper right shelf is supported on the left by the upper left shelf, so it can’t be moved. The middle left and right shelves also support each other, so if you want to move one, you really need to move the other for stability. The lower left and right shelves are the top of the crisper drawers, so they can’t be moved. I ended up keeping the arrangement the way it arrived. As you can see from the photo I attached, moving the middle shelf up or down would make either one of the other shelves too short, so I like it better the way it is now. I did have trouble getting the ice maker turned on. The manual was slightly helpful, but every time I pushed the Ice Maker Off icon, nothing happened. I ended up going onto YouTube and quickly found a video. It turns out that I was doing the right thing in the wrong place because I was pushing on the icon instead of the words next to the icon. So if you use the panel on the front to do anything, make sure you push on the words and not on the picture.

Gigantic Great Refrigerator - Very Pleased

Our old refrigerator was close to 16 years old when we decided to replace it. My wife and I were unaware how much the design and technology had improved on refrigerators over the years. We are not fans of stainless steel kitchen appliances so we got the model in white. This model does have a pretty expensive price tag but we bought it over the Memorial day promotion and got it with a 35% off sale. When Best Buy delivered our new refrigerator it only took two hours for the refrigerator to cool down to 36 degrees and the freezer to -5 degrees. Within 6 hours we had ice. We have had the new fridge for about 3 weeks now and I can say we are quite pleased. The best features of the refrigerator are: The Middle Drawer - this is a great feature with multiple temperature settings. We keep it at the cold drinks setting of 33 degrees. The drawer has become our snack/meat drawer. We keep drinks, yogurt, dairy items, snacks and fresh meat. At 33 degrees the meat is good for about 6 to 7 days. The Ice Maker - At times you can hear the ice drop and it is louder when there is no ice already there. The ice maker is very fast and it seems to make ice every 45 to 55 minutes. I did buy an ice bin to keep in the freezer with extra ice but I am finding my wife and I can not use ice fast enough to deplete the ice maker. The ice maker can hold up to 4.2 pounds of ice. This is about 9, filled to the top, glasses of ice. Ice and Water Dispenser - the compartment for the water dispenser is tall enough to fit an ice tea pitcher. The ice dispenser will put out either regular cubes or crushed ice. You do have to hold the glass up close to the opening when the crushed ice dispenses or it will spill out. Shortly after using the crushed ice feature when you try and get cubed ice some crushed ice will come out. Other reviews listed this as a negative, so far every refrigerator I have used with a crushed ice feature will also do this. Shelving - the shelving is high quality with stainless steel trim. It is well designed and allows you to fold shelves back to accommodate tall items. The shelves in the door can easily accommodate gallon jugs and 2 liters. The produce drawers allow you to control the humidity levels and our veggies and fruits do seem to be keeping their freshness longer. Noise level - Compared to our old refrigerator the Samsung is very quiet. You can hear a slight hum when it cools down but it cools down very quickly and the hum shuts off. LED display - all of the controls are easy to use and function great Interior lighting - the LED lighting is impressive, especially if you open the refrigerator in the dark. Very bright lighting with a slight blue glow. Freezer - I read from Samsung's website that the refrigerator and freezer do not share the same circulated air. There are two evaporators, two motors, etc. Because the freezer is continually circulating it's own air it is able to reach -12. When you open the freezer drawer you do not feel the cold air escape. Our old freezer was not able to get that cold. I would normally throw things out after 3 months. I would be comfortable keeping food in this refrigerator's freezer for 6 months.

This is a very attractive fridge. The black stainless doesn't smudge or show fingerprints too much, but it does need to be wiped down regularly to keep it looking its best (not a bad thing to do to a fridge anyway). We LOVE the snack drawer between the main fridge on top and the freezer on the bottom. The one thing it needs is some kind of organizer or divider -- I ended up getting some small plastic bins to organize the space. But I like that the kids can just open that drawer to get the things they're usually looking for without opening the whole fridge. I like the French doors in the main fridge that let me open just the side I need, and I like how much space there is inside. There is one funny little shelf in the door that doesn't seem to fit anything other than cubes of butter or maybe cheese sticks. We're still figuring out the best way to store and access eggs, since there's no obvious spot for them. This is my first bottom freezer, and I'm still getting used to it. I don't dislike it, but I'm still adjusting. The freezer drawer is very useful, but I wish it had a better divider system - the one in the fridge is basically useless -- things fall right through it. I got plastic bins for the freezer drawer, too. I also got bins to organize the snack drawer. The ice maker is pretty small and not easy to get out -- we moved our old fridge into the garage and hooked up its ice maker out there for times when we need a lot of ice. The fridge is a standard height and width, but it's deeper than I expected. There's about 1/2 inch of clearance for our pantry door to open now. I realize it's my fault for not measuring the depth in the fridge spot, but it was still a surprise.

      Awesome Fridge - Quiet Compressor

I read ALOT of reviews before I buy, so in fairness I have to submit my own. I like to make it simple/concise: Pros: (Best Buy Guys were GREAT, Delivery was flawless, along with salesman was the BEST!!! The salesman was so good, I even brought a TV from the appliance guy. - I also brought an LG Washer/Dryer will review that later. Pros for Fridge: - Very Quiet Compressor - I stay in a Ranch so I like quietness and I didn't want to hear the fridge running and with this one I don't. GREAT feature!! - Look - It looks really really good in my kitchen - I love the 4 door, the flex space in the middle is perfect for me to store things that I like to get to quick without opening the big fridge. - The light in the fridge!! When you open it, it is like 'todaaaaa' (sp), like WOW look at all the light - just wonderful. - I love the stainless steel look it flows well with everything else - Lots and Lots of space, I think it is too big for just me (1 person), I have brought $200.00 worth of groceries and I can't begin to fill it up, so for a family it will be perfect Con: The only major 1 thus far - The Ice Maker is Loud, but only when it drops the ice, It is so weird it is like all of a sudden, you hear something hard drop, like it had a long long way to fall. Now it may be because my ice maker is not full, but it is weird that I hear it while watching TV ( I have the open floor kitchen plan) - I don't know how to open ice maker. Not saying it is not in the manual but who reads those?? :o) I would highly recommend this fridge, the only reason it didn't get a 5 because of the Ice maker, but that may be very normal. And I love the 10 year warranty on the compressor!!! My last fridge (Frigidaire, will never by one of those again) the compressor went out in 7 years, so I like that Samsung is standing behind their Fridge.

      This refrigerator is JUNK

We bought the Samsung 28 cu. Ft. 4 door French door refrigerator in stainless steel. We have had nothing but problems with the refrigerator since we bought it. I definitely would look at a different brand refrigerator! Since we bought it the ice maker has never worked properly. It would crush the ice instead of giving you whole cube. The ice cubes would come out partially thawed. First the ice cube tray cracked. That was $130. I continued to have the problem and contacted Samsung. They would just send an email saying to check for leaks, ect. Nobody got back to me with a real solution. Then the problem continues but now the ice maker freezes up and there is ice froze on the outside of the ice maker and the ice cubes jam before falling into the ice cube tray. I contacted Samsung again and they told me to do the same thing. Check to make sure the ice door is closing, check for leaks, and empty everything out of the refrigerator and let it thaw. NOTHING fixes it!! I am absolutely so fed up with this useless refrigerator. I have to thaw the refrigerator and ice maker out once a month. That is absolutely ridiculous! And now there is a loud humming/grinding noise in the back of the refrigerator. Please save yourself all the hassle that I have had to go through with this JUNK refrigerator and go with a different brand. The refrigerator and ice maker are useless and Samsung customer service is horrible!

I purchased this refrigerator on 1/25/17. It was delivered about a week later. Right away it would randomly beep. About every hour, give or take. The control panel would light, and the ice selection would change. Otherwise it was working perfectly. I Contacted Samsung. They asked that I try a bunch of different things. Nothing stopped the beep. They arranged for a repair tech to come out. No one showed up. They tried arrange for another, but could not find one. So they were going to look into a refund or exchange. While waiting to hear back, I decided to contact Best Buy's Geek Squad. I had purchased the Geek Squad service plan. They made arrangement to have new control panels shipped and scheduled a visit. The Geek Squad came and replace the main control panel on the fridge and the ice/water control panel on the door. Unfortunately the beeping continued. So they arranged to replace the door, figuring it was a possible short in a wiring harness, either in the door or the cabinet. The Geek Squad was back today (4/12/17). He replaced the door, and the beeping has stopped. I am completely impressed with the features of this refrigerator. I did a lot of comparing before deciding on this model. It has a super large capacity, packed full of features. And I love the Flex Drawer. I don't fault Samsung for a glitchy appliance getting past quality control... it happens. Samsung was quick to respond to me. But they have no one in my area to service what they sell. They did not give me any difficulty in offering a refund or exchange. Reviews on Samsung refrigerators are good. But because of some complaints about ice maker problems on previous models, I decided to get the extra Geek Squad Service Plan for piece of mind. All of my appliance are Samsung. No problems with any other item. I highly recommend getting the extra protection. Not because of bad customer service on Samsungs part - they were willing to make things right with a refund or exchange, but because when Samsung couldn't get the problem fixed, the Geek Squad did. And I also want to give 5 Stars to the Geek Squad tech to came to my house each time - Great Job on his part.

      Esthetically appealing, annoyingly loud

      • Verified PurchaserVerified Purchase

This refrigerator looks and feels great and we love the lighting and setup of the shelves inside. However, the right door shelves are great for two gallons of milk on the lower shelf but the other two above are only good for small/short jars and bottles. The shelves on the left are not as good and are more limited in use than those on the right side door. I say that because of the shape due to the ice maker. It's not that we hate them but I am saying that it's harder to find a lot of items that fit there conveniently. The ice maker is hard to pull out and the dispenser is slow in my opinion. Maybe it's because the ice pieces are smaller and it takes more ice to fill up my cup. Also, when you select ice and push the button, water comes out of the water dispenser. It's a small amount but it does end up in the tray below. We like the freezer and love the middle drawer for our children. We keep cheese, fruit, snacks and juice boxes in there so they can reach them without assistance. My kids are 4 and 7. So far this fridge has been very loud and even to the point where some glass jars in the doors will rattle against each other. I'm not saying it's loud like a saw but it's annoyingly loud if you're sitting at the table and don't have the TV on and no one is talking. It's almost as if the motor is constantly running and rarely shuts off. I can't decide if it's the compressor or the ice maker or what but to me, in 2014, a refrigerator that costs almost 3k once you add in Geek Squad protection and taxes, SHOULD NOT be this loud. I will be calling Geek Squad about this in the next week or two. Also, the doors have to be shut and I mean pressed shut. Not like our old side-by-side that you could open the door all the way, grab what you needed and basically get the door started with your foot or elbow and it would shut. You have to purposely shut both doors. Itt's not a huge deal unless you have small children who don't pay bills. I'm giving this product 3 stars and almost gave it 2 because the look and feel are great but the noise and ice dispenser are too big of an issue to our family of 4. I would try a different brand and or make Best Buy show you one that is running so you can hear it foryourself and make sure you like the door storage.

Do NOT buy a Samsung brand appliance

      • My Best Buy® Elite Plus MemberElite Plus Member

I will start by saying I read most of the reviews on Best Buy and on other sites, like Amazon and Consumer Reports before buying this refrigerator. I saw some of the negative reviews that spoke about bad Samsung customer service and thought "well, maybe it's just one or two people" or "what are the chances that I would get a bad fridge". Well, I am remodeling my kitchen and it took a while to get the fridge installed. It has not a bit of damage on it and we were very careful installing it. Well, my luck, the fridge doesn't work. I have a five year best buy warranty. I called Best Buy and it's in the first year, so they cannot do ANYTHING. I had to call Samsung. Well.....PLEASE NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG APPLIANCE. We have been through h3ll trying to get a brand new fridge fixed. There have been multiple service calls, with horrid service techs that had no clue what they were doing. They were never able to figure out why our fridge didn't cool anything. They wasted multiple days where we had to stay home from work, which cost me over $500 out of pocket. Samsung has not been helpful in the least. I have had to make approximately 40 calls to them. They have NEVER called me back when they said they would ("we will call within 24-48 hours", but then I'm still calling a week later....). I'm a month into dealing with Samsung customer service now, the fridge is STILL not fixed and I cannot afford to spend yet another $2400 on another new fridge. Best Buy sales manager has been great in her attempts to help, but there really isn't anything she can do since Best Buy doesn't cover the first year of warranty. I'm literally on hold with Samsung yet again (it's a daily call with them now and they are still screwing up. This is the third time they said to wait for a call back for "advanced support" and they are supposedly authorizing a replacement, yet they haven't done so. They keep coming up with excuses for why they haven't. I will personally never purchase another Samsung appliance again. They are worse than Comcast (and if you have Comcast, you know what I mean). In all honesty, no one should ever have to deal with them, as it is a very unpleasant experience. Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy from them.
