- A: AnswerIn general, not specific to this model......I have had front loaders for 14 years now, no mold or odor at all. Main thing - leave the door as wide open as possible after each load. And I use powered soap vs. liquid, I have heard liquid laundry detergent has more inert ingredients that can cause odors because of the residue that breaks down, but maybe that has changed. Also don't use too much soap, I only use two Tbsp of powered soap for a LARGE load in my 5.0 cubic foot machine and my clothes are clean and come out smelling clean as well. Too much soap is hard on the washer anyway and inhibits the friction action that is supposed to clean your clothes during tumbling in the drum (excessive soap doesn't allow fabrics to scrub against each other, but instead glide over each other because suds are slippery, thus not 'scrubbing' the dirt off) - do research if you don't believe me.

- A: Answercan't change it. there are VERY FEW brands that hinge on the right (so you can open from the left) and none are changeable for leaking and liability issues. I looked. my washer hookups are on the right in an UPSTAIRS laundry room with a drain pipe in case of water overflow. i can't move the pipe, so have to put my washer on the right, and it hinges on the left. opens toward the wall. it's not fun. will probably be less onerous to switch laundry when i put in pedestals but it's def not convenient. i asked at two stores and they both said the overwhelming majority hinge on the left. don't know why any home builder puts hookups on the right in homes then. or if they were doing it first, why manufacturers make them hinge on the left.
