This Samsung TV is the first I've purchased in 10 years, so the difference is quite significant from my previous Toshiba Plasma. That said, I do appreciate electronics and understand the technology. So prior to purchasing this TV I did a lot of research as the TV I was going to purchase had to be a good looking, low profile, smart TV that had the DirecTV Ready feature. Along with everyone else, I didn't want to pay too much money. After all the research, landed on this model, and I'm very happy with the quality of the TV & non-DirecTV features. Connection to my wi-fi was simple. Once connected, signing into my Netflix was a snap. Picture looked great, and decent sound for TV speakers. The remote is extremely simplified, and after playing around with it, came to appreciate the layout/look/functionality. As I eluded to, the only feature that I'm not satisfied with is the DirecTV Ready feature. I upgraded to the DirecTV HD Genie and the small deca device that connects to the TV. Was difficult for DirecTV to install and get programming to work, and since it was correctly programmed, it has been inconsistent with programming, mainly live TV and strangely a couple channels that are the main offenders. Not going to ding the Samsung TV too much, due to the fact that I'm not sure if its DirecTV or Samsung causing the issue(both could be at fault too). What has been the best solution to resolve programming issues is to unplug the TV for 30 seconds. Overall, Netflix, On Demand and recorded shows work well, the TV looks great on the wall and its a very nice picture, so I'm happy. Hoping with future software upgrades comes more consistent live TV programming through the DirecTV Ready feature.

I had previously purchased the 39' Insignia 1080p with Roku because I was looking for something small enough to fit in an armoire. On a second trip to BB I stumbled onto this TV by accident looking for a sound bar for the Insignia. This was displayed separately from the other tv's in the 40' class so I completely missed it on my first search. Although I did love the Roku on the Insigna, the picture on this TV was 10 times better and I was able to run an Ethernet cable into the TV for streaming. I love love this tv. You will not find a better 40 tv. Picture is amazing and streaming is fast with Ethernet. I may still get a sound bar as the sound from the speakers is fair at best. Kind of expensive for the size but like I stated before, I needed something 37 inches or less in width to fit in an armoire. No "Ragrets" HAHAHA Would definately buy this tv again.
