Superb resolution-definition absolutely great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV is wonderful with everything I expected from Samsung. The digital tuner is what I wanted most using outdoor antennas. Looks like we are watching in 3D with so much contrast, it is much higher than I imagined. The minature remote with hardly any buttons at all is a drawback. Good thing I have 4 other Samsung remotes, plus a Harmony 700 to use. If not, it takes so many button pushes that can be accomplished with a better remote. Not sure what Samsung was thinking doing this, maybe if all you did was stream Netflix, it would be fine. If you have 4 other devices hooked into your system, then you need access to these also. Icluding pic of remote, not TV.

Great 4K Panel For My Needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using this Samsung 4K - 40" to replace a 32 inch 1080p Samsung I use for small business graphics and web site work, plus accounting and point of sale system maintenance. This 40 inch 4K is a huge improvement for my purposes. Colors, brightness and contrast are awesome. It is the perfect size to show two full web pages side by side for various system maintenance tasks. The amt of video I've watched on it (Netflix mostly) so far is minimal, but the quality is exceptional with native 1080p content. Sound is better than most on board speakers I've heard, with plenty of volume range. Of course, adding amplification and external speakers would probably be desired for home theater or gaming setups, however stock sound is sufficient for most other application. The 2K-4K upscaling engine works well to improve sharpness and resolution of 2K content. Haven't seen native 4K content on it yet, but have to assume it will be at least minimally sharper with more dynamic range. I do not game (wish I had the time) on this panel, but bought it after reading reviews from others, many who're using it primarily for gaming and say it is great (with caveats of course) for that purpose as well (read those reviews for specifics). I bought it on sale and for my purposes, it'd be very tough to beat the value of this puppy for the price.. Am very satisfied. Side note: This is my 2nd of 3 - 4K LED screens purchased at BB since Thanksgiving '16, after owning only 1080p's prior. The other two - 4K screens are a Hisense 55" with HDR 10 compatibility and a Hisense 50" 4K w/out HDR compatibility. I believe this Samsung 40" does have low end HDR functionality also. Although the higher end 4K's than these have more advanced HDR and picture technology, they start at twice the price. The picture quality of these 3 low end 4Ks is worlds above any good quality 1080p LED screen. The difference between these and higher end 4K's is minor in comparison. Thus, I won't be considering a new 1080p panel ever again, while these great value 4K's regularly go on sale at Best Buy for just a few dollars more than their 1080p counterparts ;-).

As a Computer Monitor, Smart TV, Remote & SoundOut
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm happy with purchase and use this TV as a computer monitor. My present video card does not support 4K and so it's a 1920 x 1080 monitor. It was my intention to use a 4K TV so as to fit more into the 42" panel. The Samung is a companion to a Sony TV 42" Brav1a in a dual monitor setup. I calibrated the Sony for photo editing and when screen matching the Sony and the Samsung, I find the newer Samsung has more contrast and the blacks had to be cut back some to the point they blacks appear grayer. Overall pleased with the purchase. As for the Smart TV feature, I've used it for watching some free DramaFever TV shows. The English subtitles do get lost and we have to pause to let it refresh. Could be a limitation caused by the the speed of my 3 mps internet download. After working about a month the DramaFever app has stopped working and even after uninstalling and reinstalling twice, it fails to load anything, taking a long time going nowhere. All the other Apps (ABC, Netflix, YouTube, etc) are fine. I don't have a subscription to any movies so can't rate viewing paid-for shows. Remote control. It's a clever use of push, pull and squeeze the long switch. I do like the simplicity of the remote. It's a clean look and and keeps sliding off my table. Gladly it came with the battery inserted because I haven't figured out how to open the battery compartment. : ) Sound. TV sound is decent. There is no head phone jack. I will have to get an optical cable and an analog converter to output the sound. Haven't tried that yet. Samsung has several TVs in this 42" range. The TVs even have similar model numbers and trying to compare them is like nit picking, but the nit piking nuances may be important to others. I got this based on price and 42" size during the Black Friday sales this past November 2016.

Needed a screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price seemed right and why get a monitor, when a 4k TV would be just as good? Very nice picture, but I should have checked to make sure it had a split screen. The next day I saw a bigger 4k for almost $100 less.

Awesome TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just have it hooked up to an antenna and wifi and the picture is crystal clear. All the wifi functions work perfectly from Netflix to YouTube to MyCloud, the only device that actually works great with the MyCloud. Sound quality is fine and its the perfect TV for my den.

Q: QuestionI'm not familiar with the smart tv's. what exactly does it do?
Asked by Cornelia.
- A:Answer A Smart TV allows you access content from the Internet. Content like movies from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.

Q: QuestionBest Buy has 6 Samsung 40" LEDs on sale today, including these 3: UN40KU6290FXZA $329 UN40J5200AFXZA $329 UN40J6200AFXZA $380.99 It seems like the first has the newer technology and is the best value - is that correct? This pricing seems crazy.
Asked by Alison.
- A:Answer These televisions are all different, and are best for different applications. The UN40KU6290 (this product) is the 2016 model, and it is the only one out of the 3 you listed that supports 4K (3840 x 2160). The other 2 support 1080p (6290 is 4 times the resolution), and they are both the 2015 model. All 3 are Smart televisions. Picking out of these will be completely dependent on your application. If you are planning on having an extremely close viewing distance (ie: using this as a monitor), the 6290 is your best bet. Since the J5200 and KU6290 are the same price, there is absolutely no reason to purchase the J5200 at this moment. The UN40J6200 has a higher refresh rate (120 HZ panel vs 60 HZ like the 6290 and J5200). If you plan to use this with a further viewing distance (ie: bedroom, living room, etc.), the J6200 may be more desirable. The J5200/J6300 should be shown at your local Best Buy. The KU6290 will most likely not be on display, but the KU6300 will be (this is comperable).

Q: Questionhow is this television different from the Samsung 40" which sells for $399/ ($359 with open box)? Judy
Asked by judy.
- A:Answer This tv is, according to another website, very similar to the ku6300, but lacks Bluetooth and has a standard remote. So it should be close in price, but at the time of writing is 100$ more.

Q: QuestionWhat does dark titan mean
Asked by Inda.
- A:Answer Dark Titan is the darkest gray you can imagine. It's basically black. It has a slight metallic shine on the base but the border around the tv is black. Hope that helps!

Q: QuestionDoes the Netflix app included on the tv stream 4k?
Asked by Jhey.
- A:Answer Yes but in order to access the 4K Netflix content you must : 1. Have the premium Netflix memebership ($12 per month) ,which is the only one that has 4K shows/movies . 2. Have a steady 25mbps or higher Internet connection . Looks great by the way
