Hot spots and flashlighting problems
Posted .Panel Lottery - This TV coes with 3 differnt panels. Once made by Samsung, and two other made by third party. The third party ones are not as good. You have to look on the box at a serial code to tell which panel you have. There is a lot of information online about this so look it up if you are interested. - The picture on this TV straight out of the box was beautiful. Both my wife and I weer wowed by how crisp and pretty Avatar was. We both agreed that it looked almost 3d. After a little tweaking, it looked even better. - I purchased this TV with gaming in mind, as thats what I mostly do with my TV. It was excellent for it. No lag and the games too (specifically the Halo series) looked almost 3d also. Very bright and vivid. No need for a game mode, the auto motion on looked great. - However, the TV had very bad flashlighting and hot spots. In the bottom corners, light shown terribly. You could even notice it on a full screen movie, the corners would be brighter. On a letterbox movie it was very, very distracting. So distracting that I had to return it. I was very dissapointed. - You can reference the pictures to see what I mean. I was very sad and hated to return the TV because it was beautiful. Fortunately, Best Buy has an awesome return policy, so there was no questions asked. The Geek squad guy I dealth with even knew abotu the problem, as he had the same Tv but it wasn't bad enough for him to return it. - I would like to add though, that if you can get this TV with no flashlighting, it woudl be awesome. Blu Ray looks amazing and the sound is great and it has great features. - I purchased a 47" LG 5400 LED and am 100% happy with it. No flashlighting (or its very, very minute) and the picture quality is at least the same as the Samsung LED, if not a tad better. You can look at the pictures and see for yourself. I hope this helps.

Very Good TV and definitely Recommended
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI got this 6300 model for a cent less than a grand this Thanksgiving. Overall I am very satisfied with the picture quality. Very crisp and quite a bit of picture viewing options. Of course better sound may have been desirable but with such a skinny TV, the sound could not have been better. Basically the purpose of my review is the overall comparison with the 6500 model which costs $ 500 more. I have viewed the same HD movie with both the TV's sitting right next to each other at Best Buy and there is absolutely no difference between the picture quality. The dynamic contract ratio of the 6500 is 5 million : 1 where the dynamic contrast ratio of 6300 is 4 million : 1. It DOES NOT matter at all. The DC ratio is just a marketing gimmick by Samsung. However, the internet content available in 6500 model comes at a very high cost. You can actually get a Apple TV or Boxee at 1/5th of cost or half the cost respectively and get much much more internet based apps like Netflix, Hulu, Facebook. I use an Apple TV which I bought for a paltry $99 as compared to the $500 extra for 6500. Moreover, 6500 is not Wi-Fi enabled which means you have to wire your TV from wherever you have your internet. I have my modem/router in my bedroom and the TV in the living. There was NO way I would have wired it out. So I bought an Apple Extreme Router and an Apple TV to make my TV internet ready. I can assure you the picture quality and the performance of the internet apps are much better with 6300/Apple TV combination as compared to the native apps in 6500. Same logic is applicable for the comparison between 6300 and 6900. 6300 = Model: UN46C6300SF | SKU: 9784657 6500 = Model: UN46C6500VF | SKU: 9784408 6900 = Model: UN46C6900 | SKU: 9832579

AMAZING TV with great picture!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis TV was my first venture into the world of LED's and I must say I couldn't be happier. I've had mine since super bowl weekend, though trust me football is the last thing I watch on this bad boy. I got mine when it was $1,500.00 and let me just say it still seems totally worth the price even without the free bluray player they threw in. I've never seen picture quality quite like this with any other TV I've owned. The blacks are blacker, the whites are brighter, and the clarity is to die for! Sound quality is a bit questionable if you're thinking of putting this in a sizable living room/family room, but for my small bedroom it works out quite well. Also, I'm told poor sound quality is quite common among flat screens so I was prepared for it to be worse then it actually was. Either way, I did choose to invest in the matching Samsung (touch of red) sound bar which just made the movie-watching-experience an absolute DREAM! Honestly, I'm no gamer or even all that tech savvy, but that sound bar pretty much rocked my world. First time I watched HP6 (nerd alert!) with that thing on, I swear it was like I was actually in the movie. And a word of advice...this TV will mean nothing to you without a bluray player. Sure, it's a fantastic piece of equipment all on its own, but you won't ever see its full beauty if you don't invest in a bluray. Also, if you find yourself getting headaches after watching TV on this set for the first couple of days, don't be alarmed. I had a headache for nearly the whole first week of using this thing because the picture quality was so strong. It was like getting a newer, stronger pair of prescription glasses so it took some getting used to. So buckle down, take two aspirin, and breathe through the migraine. I promise it's soooo worth the pain. Keep in mind though, that I'm a 20 year-old girl, who applies this same philosophy to six-inch heels. All in all, if you're looking for a quality LED, go with the Samsung and DEFINITELY invest in a protection plan. Honestly couldn't be more happy with this thing if I tried.

Fantastic screen!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this screen a couple months ago to replace my Toshiba 42" 1080p LCD screen that had been accidentally broken. So far this screen has functioned phenomenally! I use this TV as my main screen in the house. For gaming it works wonderfully! I have my PS3 and Xbox 360 both hooked to it through HDMI. The picture is great, the sound is as good as one could expect from TV speakers, and there is no latency between the onscreen picture and the controls (as long as you turn off the automotion feature while gaming). As far as TV and movies go this screen is leaps and bounds ahead of my 5 year old LCD. Blu-ray movies are astonishingly clear. DVDs look very good, even coming from a non-upscaling DVD player. TV shows look better than ever. Sports are quite impressive as well. If you really want to show this screen off pop in a Pixar blu-ray, turn the automotion on, and watch your friends drool. My one complaint with this particular model is that to clean the screen you must only use the included screen cleaning cloth and water. It's not a big deal, but know that you will get some major smearing if you try to use flat panel screen cleaning solution (i.e. Monster Screen Clean) and a micro fiber cloth. Overall I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a TV to be the centerpiece of their home theater without breaking the bank. There are cheaper LCD models out there, but the picture quality on this set is worth the extra couple hundred dollars it will cost you.

Had it had apps, this would be a no brainer
Posted .I would recommend this to a friend--Scroll down for the technical review -------Scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN for the summary if explanations aren't your thing Lets start from the beginning. I had bought this TV online for black Friday, and what a great deal it was, free blu-ray player?? I already have the ps3, but still... free!! Ok, back to subject, the TV has arrived at the date it was expected, about an hour late, but its understandable considering the amount of TV orders that most likely occurred during those 2/3 days. i plugged it all up and got it moving, but something wasn't right, one of the LED's were off, brighter than usual, so i exchanged it for another one, and although i saw it still, much less. (more on that farther down) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, now for the real technical review the 120hz (120 Frames Per Second) is a welcome addition in my opinion. It should be standard in every product because its entirely common sense, almost all video nowadays are played either at 15, 24, 30, or 60 FPS, and all of these numbers divide 120 evenly. 24fps on a 60hz, one or two frames are going to be off. These TV's now come with automotion plus stuff, which essentially tries to convert a 24fps to 60fps. the idea is to prevent studdering, although i think it actually makes it worse. Films are meant to be looked at 24fps, that's the film look we all come to know and love, and to be honest, films look much better with the technology off, or at least to clear setting. The picture quality is nothing short of brilliant. I was immediately drawn (and still drawn, I'm having a hard time getting out) into the 1080p content with my HDMI connected PS3, I have never seen the default dynamic background to be so... sharp and candy-like. The only real problem, and its a small one, is when it comes to dark screens, such as loading times for GT5, you do see visible LED lighting, but that is to be expected. I accidentally discovered a way to really reduce this effect by simply increasing the brightness level. I was watching Brooklyn's Finest, and noticed the contrast was so deep that me and my friend could not see very well in the dark scenes, so i upped the brightness. Not only did it correct the extreme contrast, but some of those visible LED's effectively blended into the brightness increase. the corner LED's are still visible, but i expected that. the TV already has contrast set to max, my recommendation would be to set the TV to Dynamic (its the first editable option), max the LED back light, adjust the brightness to about 60-80 and increase saturation to about 55-70, for multi-purpose viewing, covers the uniformity issue, darkness offset, and more booming colors. From there, feel free to adjust the TV, it has a handful of options to do so, a techie's playground. Speaking of which, i love the fact this TV has noise reduction for people like me who still use cable in standard def. Now that very minuscule noise is nearly non-existent on medium setting. The Daily Show now looks like a hybrid of 480p and 720p in terms of quality. The TV uses very little energy. I tested this myself with a Kill-A-Watt meter, and Best Buy's specification of ~75 watts is pretty accurate. I actually got less, but that varies on how powerful the LED back light is and how loud you put the speakers (Samsung even went on to and added a nifty feature that when you press Info button on the remote, it shows you what channel you are on, AND shows you a little power gauge, comparing its energy usage to a conventional LCD/Plasma). This is a major upgrade from my rear projection TV that uses up 140 watts constantly. I can now run my surround sound and STILL have less power usage than the rear projection alone. The TV's standard speaker is a bit on the weak side. Don't get me wrong, its pretty good for a small room, quality is passable, but if you intend for a large room, invest in a sound system. What else? Internet connectible? Yes, but no apps =( This is my only real gripe about this TV, but i can live without it thanks to my PS3 and an extra long HDMI cable for my laptop. The only real usage for having this TV connected is for the AllShare feature, which works similarly to the PS3's media server access, basically, if you have a computer connected to your network, that has music, videos or photos, the TV can have access to them. i haven't really tried it out since my PS3 is my avenue of utilizing those connections, but i assume it should work similarly. Another small buzzkill is its Wifi ready, but it needs an adapter. Better going off with a Powerline Adapter, preferably one that connects multiple devices like one for PS3, Xbox, and TV and the same time. i have the Rocketfish one, and the hierarchy of performance is---- Direct connection>Powerline>Wi-fi. Reason being? Solely on Ping times I kind of wish Samsung shipped with a universal remote, handling 3 is messy As for connectivity, there are 4 HDMI, 1 composite/component hybrid, ANT in, SPDIF, audio in/out 3.5mm, VGA, and Ethernet ( I think im missing one but w/e) if you have a lot of composite devices like vcr/dvd/old satellite boxes, old gaming systems etc. consider investing in a switcher to accommodate them all. Now for the physical item, in one word, sexy! pretty light compared to my previous rear projection (duh). very slim, and the glass accent is unique, although i see it as a fingerprint magnet. Im using the stand, but this TV is perfectly wall mountable, it may even look like a picture frame. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, i think that's all. I'm very technical, but honest in experience. In summary, the TV is pleasing to the eye, both in style and performance (not to mention how power efficient it is). Too contrasty out of the box, so some brightness adjusting is needed. Speaker is weak for a large room, but suitable for a small room, and Ethernet connection isn't really necessary unless you will update firmware or use the AllShare fuction. To enjoy it to its fullest, go HDMI

Simply Amazing!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWell, I wasn't expecting a new tv purchase, but I had a fatal accident to my Sony Bravia KDL-46W4100 the other night. Long story short, a Wii remote went flying into my LCD. So I quickly began doing some research... When I was originally shopping for an LCD two years ago I wanted a Samsung. I have always been told, Samsung and Sony are the 2 best tvs, with samsung having just a little bit better contrast ratios. At that time (Feb '08) the Sony had 30,000:1, whereas the Samsung I was looking at had 50,000:1. Since then I have learned quite a bit more about tvs and have learned that the term "dynamic contrast ratio" has no standard. But back then the Samsungs were almost all sold out, except for ones out of my price range, due to the Super Bowl. So an associate recommended I look at a Sony, at that time the Sony was $2,100 and the manager knocked it down to $1,799 to get it under $2,000 including tax. Ever since I have been happy, but have always had the "what if" lingering in my mind about getting the tv I wanted in the first place, a Samsung. Don't get me wrong, I would definitely buy another Sony, but this time for the value the Samsung was the way to go. So I found this Samsung 6300 Series LED on sale at my local Best Buy for $1,169 and I fell in love! To begin with, the picture is breathtaking! The LED lighting makes all of the difference, colors are so much more vibrant than my old Sony, darks are dark, the entire picture is bright, and I have yet to notice the contrast adjusting itself. No dimming screens here! The 4,000,000:1 contrast ratio is brilliant!!The ONLY thing I have noticed is that on black screens you can notice the backlighting (like other reviews have said), but honestly its no big deal at all! It does not take away from the viewing experience. So far I have hooked up my PS3, Mac Mini, and Nintendo Wii, and everything has looked stunning! I have not seen any jittery screens nor any screen tearing that I did see on my Sony. There are PLENTY of hook ups on the tv. I personally have not seen any problems with the tv's speakers, but using surround sound is pretty obvious for anyone that has a tv like this, which is what I have.

Amazing Image Quality!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSince LED's came out, I've always wanted one but they were too expensive. So I waited until the Black Friday sales and saw this 46" Samsung LED for $999.00 with a free bluray player bundle posted on this website but I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy a regular LED or a 3D LED model. The 3D model was twice the price of this one so it made sense to me that this one was the right choice since 3D tech is on its infancy and the 3D picture doesn't look that clear on any TV I've tested recently plus having 3D glasses does cause me headaches. So I went and purchased it yesterday. Took it home, hooked up to my TV stand, set up the home theater system, and watched the bluray movie Avatar Collectors Edition and guess what? Since the beginning of the movie I thought I was actually on Pandora. Never seen a TV look so amazing as this one. Picture quality is amazingly detailed and believe me, you wont even miss 3D after you see the amazing colors, depth, and detail this TV provides. Is almost as watching it on 3D but without glasses. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for the ideal LED TV.

BEST TV ON THE MARKET
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBought this TV on Black Friday when it was $999 after spending countless hours doing research. Samsung has always been good to me, and with this TV it was no different. Picture quality is hands down the best out there, I don't care what anyone says--I've done the comparisons. Sound is decent enough for such a thin TV, and Samsung's menu interface has stayed great. For those that are complaining about the "flashlight effect". You're blowing things WAY out of proportion if you think that the bleeding is worse on this TV than other LEDs. If you want an LED that doesn't bleed, you have to pay for it by get a local-dimming or full array LED (Samsung's 8000 Series). Otherwise, don't complain. LED technology is still progressing. For those on the fence about whether to splurge for the LED or stick with a considerably cheaper LCD, don't hesitate and buy the LED. It is not only thinner and sleeker, but the picture quality is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than that of LCD models. Don't let people try to fool you--LED has better picture quality. And the difference is big enough that it warrants the increased price. Bottom Line: Buy this TV. I'm completely impartial when it comes to electronics, and I always do my research. This is an amazing television that will blow you away the second you turn it on and will continue to amaze you after you've had it for months. No matter what you're using it for (gaming, movies, TV) this TV is the best in its class.
Q: QuestionIs a LED tv better than lcd? Does it matter if it is 60hz or 120hz/
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You may have already received an answer to this, but I will put in my 2 cents... The "LED" in the new models just means that it is an LCD TV that uses LED backlighting. This means that you will get a higher contrast ratio which is extremely important for your picture quality. When looking for a TV you should look for the contrast ratio (ex. 100,000:1). The higher that number is, the better. You will have richer blacks and brighter whites, which will enhance your colors as well. As far as the 60hz or 120hz, or heck they even have 240hz now...it does make a large difference. Its really hard to explain how it works, but samsung markets the technology as "automotion". It makes the transitions between frames extremely smooth, and the resulting picture is kind of a weird experience, almost like your looking out of a window or something. Your best bet is to go into sears or best buy and look at the picture of a normal 60 hz tv, and then look at a comparable model that has the automotion, you will definitely see the difference and understand what Im talking about. I recently bought a Samsung 46 inch LED LCD with 120hz automotion and I absolutely love it. The contrast ratio for that model is 4,000,000:1 Hopefully this helps some.

Q: QuestionWHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LCD &LED
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer LCD traditionally uses a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlighting system that runs across the rear internal portion of the unit to illuminate the LCD panel from behind. This lamp technology enjoys a tremendous following of enthusiasts, and translates into years of enjoyment of an affirmed, reliable and trusted technology. LED is relatively new on the market, and uses specialized versions of the LED lights that have been used for years. It allows panels to be lit either from behind the panel (replacing the CCFLs with LEDs), or from the side using an efficient energy friendly infrastructure that emits light evenly behind the panel in order to illuminate the entire LCD panel equally, called EDGE-LED. EDGE-LED Technology has a few additional benefits in that the design of the LED panel can be slimmer than traditional LCD panels and reduces energy consumption. LED also has a few additional benefits, such as offering an accurate and natural color, as well as increased performance with black levels. LED is also free from toxic materials, such as of mercury, lead or volatile organic compounds. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionHow do i get 120Hz instead of 60Hz? I have tried to change all the settings but it still is stating 60Hz.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The UN46C6300 is a fully capable 120Hz set and offers the Auto Motion Plus feature that enhances said 120Hz image. This set will always upscale your 60Hz signal to 120Hz, regardless of any settings you may have active. However, in order to receive the full 120Hz benefit (judder and blur reduction, and frame interpolation), you will need to have AMP active. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionWill LED-LCD televisions last a long time? Do they start to lose their visual performance after a while like plasma tvs?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Based on Mr. Samsung's Assessment that the life expectancy is 100,000 hours, that means you could run the TV continuously for around 11.5 years (not that I'm recommending this!). So I guess what I'm trying to say is, yeah, it'll last for a LONG time.

Q: QuestionDifferences btwn UN46C6300 and UN46C6500What are the differences between the UN46C6300 and the UN46C6500?

Asked by VJ.
- A:Answer Although there is no official amount of space needed between you and the TV for proper viewing (it really is based on your own preferences), many techs may suggest that an average distance of 11 feet from you and the display would be optimal for a TV this size. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionI see UN46C6300 online, and UN46C6300SF at Best BuyI am Price shopping before making my purchase. Best Buy adds the SF at the end of this model number where others don't have a SF. What does the SF stand for? and how do they compare? are they EXACT? Best buy's comparison list said no internet for this model, yet their specifications list under this model says that it has internet connector??? Please help clarify what is true.
Asked by tommyboy84.
- A:Answer I'm sorry for the confusion. These two models are actually the same units. The last few characters in the model number are used by Samsung for shipping and tracking purposes mainly and are sometimes used by retailers to better track their own inventory. Very rarely do these characters mean that the units offer different features or sizes. That said, the C6300 does not offer any internet connectivity, regardless of the last characters in the model number. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionWhich provides a better picture....edge lit LED or backlit.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Edge Lit LED TVs will provide you with a TV that is ultra thin in depth (between 1.2" to .9"), offer lower energy consumption numbers then both traditional LCD and Back-Lit LED TVs, and provide you with superb color representation and very high contrast ratios ( up to 8,000,000:1 on the C8000 LEDs). Although there are no true Back-Lit LED TVs in Samsung's line up for 2010 thus far (unfortunately, I do not have any info on these sets yet), the back-lit LEDs will offer even higher contrast ratios, consume a little bit more energy and be slightly thicker then their Edge-Lit counterparts. When trying to choose the best TV for you, its always best to visit your local Best Buy store for a side by side comparison of the different technologies. Asking which is best is subjective, however; with only the purchaser (in this case you) knowing truly which TV would be best after careful examination. -MrSamsung
