      Don't buy--stove won't hold temp

I bought this stove a few months ago, and noticed things were just not cooking quickly or browning like I'd expect. So, I purchased an oven thermometer and discovered it was often 100 degrees (!) lower than it should be even when it showed that it was fully preheated. Since it was still under warranty, I got a free service visit, and the tech (who was very nice and professional BTW) explained that this model is "energy efficient." That means the goal is that the stove generally achieve an average temp of what you set it for. So for 350, it could float back and forth between, say 300 and 400, but it is not designed to hold steady at any temperature (apparently, that requires more energy). And mine doesn't float back and forth but just kind of hangs out between 25 and 100 degrees lower than what I've set depending on how long it's been on. Oh, and the broiler turns itself off after a couple of minutes as an energy saver too. Seriously!??? Who wants a stove that can't offer basic temperature control?! So, the tech explained that once it's beyond the 1 month period, Samsung won't take it back. I'm stuck with this. I love to bake, and obviously, this is not the stove for a baker. Or anyone who plans to actually use the oven and would like to have some control over temperature. Would return if I could.

I bought this stove and had it installed on early June 2015. On Aug 20, 2015, when I was cooking, actually just start boiling a small pot of water, I heard a cracked sound. The glass top had a big cracked that extended over 1/2 the surface. I didn't drop anything on it. No den, no glass chips, no spider web cracked. The glass top just cracked because of I am using it to cook. Call Samsung, sent out technician, and Samsung - Product Support- refused to fix it because it is "Physical Damage" . Yes, the product is Physical Damage but it is not by me, is because I am using it to cook. Definitely, there are some defect or quality issue here. A $800+ stove last for just less than 3 months. The price quote from the technician is $175 + tax for the glass top, $355 + tax for the labor. It is almost like a cost for the new stove. When I search online, this is not a unique case. And Samsung keeps using Physical Damage as an excuse. They should put a warning on the display that Glass Top are easy to cracked, and it is not under our warranty. Don't buy their product.

Too Much Clicking, and Oven Doesn't Bake Well

      • My Best Buy® MemberMember

We have had this range for 10 days and have cooked and baked many dishes. The relays click about every 30 seconds, and are loud enough to be heard on the other end of the house. This can drive some people crazy. The clicking is NOT only during pre-heating. Another major complaint is that everything we bake is dried out on top while not being baked enough on the bottom. This is true whether we use BAKE or CONVECTION BAKE, and even when we place the food at the lowest possible position. A Geek Squad technician checked the oven temperature and said that it is correct, and that the clicking of the relays is normal for a Samsung. It's very difficult to simmer---you turn the knob down to LOW and it still boils fast. Burner sizes don't make sense, but there are very few glasstop ranges that have better sizes. (I would like a 7 or 8" burner, as most of the older-style coil stoves have). The good features: The knob settings are easy to read, the glasstop is not hard to clean with Ceramabrite, there are no sharp edges on the stainless steel (as opposed to Whirlpool and Kenmore, which are cutting hazards), the temperature is displayed as oven preheats (some other ranges don't have this feature),and the timer alarm is easy to hear (as opposed to GE ranges) About the noisy relays: The stovetop burners click on and off very often during use. The front burners have loud clicks. The rear burners have quiet clicks and are not a problem. During baking, there are about 3 clicks every 30 seconds. Sometimes, there is a quieter click, that correlates with the convection fan turning off and on. There is very little difference between BAKE and CONVECTION BAKE. In BAKE mode, the convection fan turns on for about 7 seconds, and then off for 35 seconds (it's not always the same interval), and in convection mode, the fan turns on for 12 seconds and off for 20 seconds. It repeats this cycle throughout the baking process, unless the oven temperature has exceeded the setting, in which case the clicking stopped (in BAKE mode). However, it takes a long time for oven temperature to actually get this high. After opening the oven door to put the food in, the temperature drops and it takes a long time to go back up to where it was. I would prefer an exposed element , for faster preheating, but the only ovens that have an exposed element are the type that only display one number at a time (either the timer, or the temperature). I need to see both of these numbers at the same time.

      Not A Quality Range

      • My Best Buy® Elite Plus MemberElite Plus Member

First off, I am not going to tell you how good or bad this range is. I will tell you what my wife and I are going through and you can draw your own conclusion. We purchased this range exactly one year ago on 4/22/2016. We discovered about a month ago that the self cleaning function isn't working. It was still under factory warranty so we have to use the Samsung Warranty Center, even though we purchased the Geek Squad Extended Warranty. That as it turns out has been unfortunate. The Sub-Contractor that Samsung uses has been to my house three times trying to fix a simple problem. The first time they came out the tech popped in a part and said "I can't stay" and left without testing to see if he had fixed the problem. It didn't. So we had to make another appointment, This time they send out a different tech who replaced a part. He waited to see it it fixed the problem. It didn't. So we schedule another appointment for them to send out someone else, but we have to wait for the part to come in. Two weeks later the part comes in and the tech installs it, who by the way he tells us that he doesn't normally work on ranges. Anyway the new part does not fix the problem. So now the tech is on the phone with Samsung Technical. They tell him that he needs to replace the entire wiring harness. At that point we tell the tech we want a refund. He gives us a number to Samsung that we have to call to discuss getting a refund. The first time we call them and tell them why we are calling, they hang up on us. We call back. After a long discussion, we are now put in the position that we have to wait for them to replace the harness to see if that will correct the problem before anything else can go forward. This will be the fourth time that I have had to accommodate the Samsung Warranty Service Center to fix a simple problem with my "New" Range. As I mentioned earlier, draw your own conclusion.

      Overall Good Electric Range

We read the reviews and took seriously the complaints about this model, after much deliberation we decided on this range and so far it has not disappointed. Not to say everything is perfect. Some reviews complain the dials for the cook-top can become hot when boiling or simmering near them, never been an issue for us, I can only assume somebody put their hand through steam to turn the heat down and thought the design faulty. What we do find fault with is the cooktop is easily marred, or at least more readily than our 15 year old range this replaces. We noticed a slight mark after delivery but decided not to make a big deal about it, as the year when on it would get a mark here or there, we also noticed it was harder to keep clean than the old range with had the same kind of cooktop. My sister has the same brand range only maybe a few years older, it has lights by each dial to let you know which burner is hot, this model has only one light to let you know the cooktop is hot in general. We miss being able to know which burner is hot at a glance. The oven is great, we love having a convection oven although it take some getting used to. Cooking times are generally shortened. Over all the oven clean and efficient. After a just over a year of living with it we wouldn't recommend this model to a friend, just because of the cooktop issues we've had. However this flaw may be corrected in newer models and over all we are not disappointed with the Samsung brand or this model range. If we were to pick a new Range today we might holdout for one with a slightly better cook top.

When I went into the showroom I was first told this didn't have a bridge (which I wanted) then when I told the salesperson that on Best Buys website it says that it DOES have a bridge she pull up the page and said, "I guess it does, huh!". So I ordered it. It DOES NOT have a bridge, so in case BestBuy does not amend that info, just know that if you want a bridge, look elsewhere. I called Samsung and they confirmed this info. BUT it matched the other appliances and in the end, how often would I use that bridge?! This is my first time with a ceramic top stove. There are obvious learning curves with this that I'm working out. I do love the fact that the "one level surface" is super easy for clean up, I don't like the fact that I have to wait for the entire surface to cool before I can do that. It also requires a special polish to keep up the condition. Sometimes I feel like the burners aren't as fast as traditional stove tops, but in all fairness, if I could own a gas range I'd do it in a heart beat because I love the control you get with gas and have been saddles with the electric stove concept since our house is not hooked up for gas. I love the convection oven and have baked in it already. HUGE oven space, self cleaning is nice and the convection keeps the baking even. My biggest challenge is that the bigger oven offers a smaller storage space below where I usually store my pot and pan lids. I have to put half in that and half in a box on a shelf. Not ideal but I'm working on a solution. Overall a nice stove for the price.

Dedicated Samsung customer will look elsewhere

      • My Best Buy® MemberMember

We bought all Samsung appliances in July 2017. The fridge, microwave, dishwasher and stove cost us $3600. The stove alone was $735. That may not sound like a lot to most people but it is to us! The stove itself has been great, no issues with heating or cooking overall. The problem we have is cosmetic. To the right of the oven handle, the 'stainless' is literally peeling and flaking off. My husband called Samsung today and they basically said we were out of luck because we were out of warranty. $735 and I am out of luck?? This is truly disappointing. Every TV in this house is a Samsung as well as our washer and dryer. We have been dedicated Samsung customers for years and have always raved about the quality of their products because we have never had an issue until now. We will now be looking to other brands that stand behind their product. Thanks Samsung...

      So far, a great range

I have to say I researched ad nauseum when purchasing a new range, mine lasted for almost 20 years and I didn't see many reviews that were optimistic about longevity. And plenty of reviews of lemons. I wasn't really interested in stainless steel but when I saw the black stainless steel, that was it. It resists smudging and is very sleek in the kitchen. It also matches nicely with my black dishwasher. One criticism is that the sides are black. And the top is black ceramic, so it looks black for the most part. But with the other appliances the black stainless stands out. The oven heats much more quickly than my old one and the front two burners are made to heat up quickly -3200 & 3300 watts will do the job. It comes with complete care instructions and I am following them since I don't want to stain or scratch the surface. If you feel you don't want to do this every use, you might consider coils or gas. I've baked a number of things in the oven including a pie today which browned beautifully and was tender throughout. I was concerned when I didn't see a bottom element but it Apparently circulates heat with the fan, I've not used the convection oven yet. The warming center isn't that warm, I guess you need to transfer a hot pan to it bc it doesn't heat things up. At all. One disappointment is the lower drawer. It seems flimsy and not well made.
