Great TV/ Nothing Fancy
Posted .Originally set out to purchase a Plasma, but after seeing the difference between a Plasma and LED at the store I went with the LED. LEDs are much brighter than the Plasma. The price seemed right compared to the first LED I purchased 7 years ago. I had never owned a Samsung television but after reading other reviews I went with it, plus Best Buy had it on sale. The tv actually fit in my Honda Civic 2 door. Sliding it through the trunk and putting the back seats down, it went in without a problem. Set up was a cinch. I connected my DVR and Blu-ray with HDMI cords (not supplied). Picture is nice and the sound is very good. I leave the sound set on Tru-HD surround and I don't have to trun the sound up past level 25. Picture is similar to my Sony LED I purchased 7 years ago. Putting the tv on the stand is also easy to assemble.

looks great above my fireplace
||Posted .I shopped around and this television was the best and then the deal at Best Buy was amazing. It's been a year and a half and I have no complaints. The Geek Squad installed it and did a great job.

very good samsung led tv
||Posted .This Samsung 50" tv has an excellent picture and very easy to set up. It could use 1 more HDMI port but when combined with a Samsung WiFI DVD player you have many features the smart tv has

The image quality is impeccable.
Posted .I use it with my Sony Google Tv, and it's a match made in heaven. And when i plug in my hard drive or my SLR camera, i can view all my photos and videos. I bought a 55inch LCD tv just a few weeks before and decided to upgrade to the 50' LED. The quality difference is unreal. I'd much rather have a tv that is 5' smaller and twice the quality. Oh, and Bluerays look godlike on this television.

Worth the price

Excellent TV for the Price
||Posted .For the sale price at which i purchased this Samsung model, it was well worth it. The picture quality is top notch and despite other reviews i read that said the sound quality wasn't that great, I think this TV's sound performs adequately. There are only 2 HDMI inputs but it really isn't that difficult to switch out your inputs. DVD's and video games look incredible on this TV and their sound is also very good. Pick up at the store was very quick and i had the TV on its stand and was watching it within a half hour of leaving the store. The TV fit in the backseat of my Honda Accord and it wasn't too heavy to carry into my house on my own. I totally recommend this TV.

Excellent Picture, Excellent Deal!
Posted .I have always wanted a Samsung TV, but they were always just more expensive than LG or Panasonic. I also didn't like how they make smaller displays than LG or Pansonic for the same money (40" vs 42", 46" vs 47"). However, I saw this new Samsung 50" LED and ran to Best Buy to purchase. My room is too bright for a plasma (screen glare) so I wanted an LED. However, 55" LED's are twice the price of 47" LED's. This 50" is a perfect compromise! The picture is amazing! I have had about 4 LCD TV's and have never seen black levels like this. Blacks are pitch black and colors are unreal. The viewing angle is great all the way around the TV. Sound is completely adequate for general viewing. With that said, the TV isn't perfect. There are only 2 HDMI inputs. However, both inputs are on the side of the TV so it is setup well for wall mounting without any angle adapters. One of the HDMI inputs is labeled HDMI/DVI, which I'm guessing means that it doesn't support 1080P HDCP and or sound but I need to confirm this. I may have to run the audio in from my Apple TV or upgrade my receiver to support HDMI switching. By default, the TV has the 240 Hz smoothing turned on. I really don't like the way it looks (soap opera effect) so I switched it off. It might be useful for sports etc, but I need to try this out. This TV is not one of the super slim LED TV's either. It is about 3" deep in the center of the back, so this may be a deal breaker for some. The strange thing is that it really looks like a super slim LED from most angles. Overall, I would recommend this TV to anyone.

Don't be fooled, fantastic Samsung picture!
Posted .If you want a smart TV or a 3D TV, this is not one. That being said, I wanted a TV not another computer-like device, and this fits the bill perfectly. My Bluray player has Wifi and all that jazz if the mood ever strikes me, so why pay hundreds (literally) so my TV can have it. I don't think I'd ever use it, I have a laptop and a smartphone for those types of things. I think there are lots of us with that viewpoint about a TV. If you want a brilliant HD picture, a nice big-but-not-crazy-huge 50" screen, then this TV is perfect. The thin bezel (frame) makes it look like it's all screen while you're watching it, it's nice! The sound, while some people say it's awful, is actually quite nice considering NO thin LED TVs have booming sound. Compared to TVs of yesteryear this TVs sound is actually nice & crisp with a little bass (not much) and fairly spacious. I find it VERY adequate for day to day watching. i also have the Vizio VHT215 soundbar for when I want to crank it during a movie. But if you've never been a theater sound person then don't believe people who say this TVs sound royally sucks, it doesn't. It's fine, may a notch above similar thin TVs on the market. It has 2 HDMI ports so you can hook up your satellite or cable box, and your Bluray. If this angers you because you also have a Wii or an Xbox, then you'll have to make the sacrifice of either a) a switch, or b) moving a cable, which takes all of 5 seconds. Or if you have a soundbar that has HDMI inputs (like the Vizio VHT215) you can pipe your devices into it (as a switch) and then feed the signal(s) to your TV that way. If this TV had everything under the sun it wouldn't cost only $1100 and be on sale often for around $800-900. It would cost $2400....which is what some upper-end Samsungs do cost. So therefore, don't believe the criticism that this TV is "mediocre" based on the fact that it lacks things that make it pricier. It is 120Hz (midrange to good); 1080p (as good any other); 20watt sound (good, on par with competitors); 50" (well, it's big but not huge- plenty for sitting 10-15' away); Nice looking (as most black TVs are); Matte screen (keeps extra reflections to a minimum); has a backlit remote control [the buttons light up] (a touch that most competitor don't offer- nice for night time viewing); has zillions of color, brightness, LED level, smooth motion, movie, dynamic, blah blah blah adjustments (if you're a tweaker you can tweak to your heart's content); it has a joystick-style control on the bottom right-of-center edge instead of buttons (for power on/off, settings, menu, etc- unique to most TVs). Anyway, you get the idea. It has all those things new TVs have, plus Samsung's reputable picture quality. Oh, and it states it costs an average of $11 to run. For a year. Wow. I think my old Sony boob tube cost that a month! And I'll brag a little, this TV only cost me $447. Haha, I scored four $100 gift cards to Best Buy from work and it was on sale for $799. Cha ching for me. Uber-happy with this TV because I knew what I was buying before I bought it, and it has what I want and not extra bloatware I don't need. well worth the $800 sale price, and I honestly think it's worth the $1100 retail tag. Cheers!

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between LED,LCD AND PLASMAI would like to know the difference between LED,LCD and plasma tv
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Plasma, LCD and LED TVs provide an excellent HD picture, offer stunning arrays of colors, and of course, Samsung’s exclusive technologies which allow you to get the most out of either panel. LCD traditionally uses a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlighting system that runs across the rear internal portion of the unit to illuminate the LCD panel from behind. Samsung’s LED Televisions use an LCD panel that is back-lit or edge-lit by LEDs. LED TVs usually enjoy the highest energy efficiency while producing very high contrast ratios and smooth motion from a slim design. Plasma Televisions operate using a combination of gas and glass to illuminate the individual pixels, or light sections, within the screen. Plasma panels allow for an expanded viewing angle over LCD, and has a response time as fast as .001ms. All of the Samsung Plasma units have a feature called Screen Burn Protection, which helps reduce the effects of static images and provide a quality image for the life of the panel. Both Conventional LCD and LED Televisions offer a great picture without image-retention and smooth image motion using the Auto Motion Plus processing, with the LED TVs offering better energy efficiency and a slimmer design. Plasma Televisions offer faster response times, as well as appeals to customers replacing a tube television with a glass screen they are familiar and comfortable with. And, due to advances in technology, both plasma and LCD panels can work well even in the brightest rooms. -MrSamsung

Q: Questionis there a glare on the screen?we get a lot of sun, just want to know if there will be a glare on the screen?
Asked by skatz.
- A:Answer You will have some glare. Less than an older CRT tv but more than a tv with a matte finish. We also get a lot of sun. Our window is to the side of the tv so as long as we're sitting in front of the tv or with our back to the sun you don't even see it. If you are to the left of the tv when the sun is hitting it it not that bad. If you turn on the light sensor feature then the tv will adjust its brightness level according to how much light is in the room. The tv gets bright enough that the sun isn't even a factor.
