Awesome TV
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI am not a TV expert so I did a lot of research before I dropped $2,699 of my hard-earned money on this TV. I read a lot of professional and customer reviews on different brands and models, and went to a number of retail outlets looking at TV displays. I was not interested in a 3D TV as I wear glasses and one of my eyes is much weaker then the other so I would not get the full benefit of 3D. In the end for me it came down to the LG LE5400, the Sony KDL60EX700, the Sharp LC-60LE8100N, and this TV. I am sure I would have been happy with any of these four TVs, but I am grateful I went with the Samsung sight unseen on May 10, 2010 (theTV was newly arrived to the store and they had not set up a display model yet) knowing I could return it if I did not like it. The TV has met and exceeded all my expectations, a TV in this price range should better meet or exceed one's expectations! I do not know if it is a result of the precision dimming and seven million to one contrast ratio this TV has, but the picture is truly outstanding. It has great screen uniformity, and I have seen none of the flashlighting that I have read about on some models of sidelit LED TVs. The screen does not reflect any light from my open windows. I watch a lot of sports and this TV is great during fast action scenes. Also, on screen lettering and numbering like sport scores and captioning is sharp and precise with absolutely no blurriness or shadowing. The colors are beautiful, and the picture is wonderful. I called up Direct TV and updated to HD, as I can't see having an HD TV without having a source of HD programing. I thought the sound was pretty good for TV speakers, but I do have the TV hooked up to an Onkyo 7.1 channel (7 x 100w) AV receiver feeding into six JBL S38IIs and one JBL S-Center speaker for some serious movie watching. I watched the Celtics beat the Lakers in game 2 of the championship series last night in HD and I loved it. When I switched to the hockey game during the commercials I was amazed by the clarity of this TV for sports. I have yet to hook up my Samsung Bluray and use the built in Wireless LAN of the Bluray player to check out youtube and other applications on my TV, but I will write about that in a future review. I have yet to adjust any settings and have a lot of exploring to do with the TV and bluray player in order to become familar with all the settings, features, and capabilities of each. I am very satisfied with my purchase. The TV also looks great in my "man cave" on or off with it's thinness, narrow bezel, and clear edge. Also, thanks to the Best Buy delivery guys who delivered the TV and an 11,000 BTU AC to the 3rd floor (not curbside like some online retailers).

Great Internet TV with an Excellent Picture
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI researched this purchase for 3+ months going back and forth between several manufacturers and several models so I'll tell you from experience this is it, the real deal, the best picture, easiest to use, most features TV. So what sold me on the Samsung over all the others was really this. Seeing all the TV's in a row and all the TV's playing the same blu-ray disc. Once I saw that it was an easy decision. Now to be fair I spent about 30 mins at the store and I set all the TV's to their out of the box defaults because you know other customers have tweaked and poked and changed all the settings before you got there so we needed a fair comparison. Once I did this the decision was clear. The Samsung 6900 just drew you right in, I mean no kidding as you scanned the line up of TV's your eyes just were drawn to the Samsung 6900 and the picture quality was just the start. The all glass bezel design, smooth lines, ultra-thin design was just heads above the closest competitor. The swivel stand that comes with the Samsung is very nice and has a nice chrome look to it. Not all the TV's I checked even came with a swivel stand so if that's important for you be sure you are looking for it. The Internet Apps and the Samsung TV App store are simply awesome. I do recommend just taking the plunge and purchase the Samsung wireless adapter, yes you may say it's pricey, but it works, and it's supported, so if you have any problems getting the two to connect Samsung knows the product and can help you. Remember not all wireless adapters are created equal and there are a lot of them out there to choose from, so save yourself the hassle and purchase the right one. When I installed it and went through the TV menu it found my network first try and I never looked back. Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, Picassa they all just worked (of course after I entered my credentials and password the first time). Simply awesome to stream HD movies wirelessly direct to the TV The overall set-up was so simple and I'll tell you what most may view as "so what" but I thought was a really nice touch was that from the Internet apps menu there are links to how to videos instructing you on how to tweak settings on the TV, how to connect home entertainment systems...that's right no more manuals, just watch the video...very cool (of course you have to at least get the TV connected to your home network and onto the Internet). All my research paid off and I know I made the right decision purchasing the Samsung 6900. I've had it for 6 weeks and I feel it's one of the best devices I've ever purchased, I can't wait to turn it on when I get home.

Excellent 2D Picture Quality
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAfter many months of research and deciding on a 2D TV I was led to Samsung, based on all the great reviews. My main objective was the best Qualtiy of Picture. Hands down, I am extremely happy with this purchase. The features are amazing, the sound is above average, the thinness is great, but the Picture Quality will blow you away. Its like watching TV for the first time. The only con to this LED, like others, is that at sharp angles the colors get wahed out slightly. No other negatives to report (no ghosting or clouding). Perfect TV and Perfect Picture.

My two cents...
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendLet me start by saying my family and I are BRAND NEW when it comes to flat-screen TVs, Blu-Ray, etc. We have nothing to compare this (or any other) piece of equipment to other than the items we bought at the same time. First off, it has the bezel that I fell in love with.... a sort of brushed metal look that gives it a classier feel. Unfortunately, the stand is still the high-gloss silver plastic looking one. That isn't a deal breaker considering I haven't seen a single stand for these TVs that isn't totally tacky looking. I just wish someone would start making them prettier! The picture I really wasn't sure about at first. That is because I was going through the big switch from a regular box set to a flat-screen.... a LARGE flat screen. This TV is PHENOMENAL when you watch a BluRay. The picture is so pretty that it doesn't even matter what movie you are watching. You just want to look at the screen! While watching TV shows, it was a bit shocking to me though. I didn't realize that some shows are not formatted for these tvs yet..... and are not filmed in very high quality. Those shows are DEFINITELY going to look bad. The TV shows up every flaw in the filming. I can't hold that against it because it is doing what I wanted. It is showing me the clearest picture possible.... and magnifying flaws kind of comes with that. The other thing I should mention is that we are not big readers of "The Manual." I spent a good long time being totally frustrated because I would change settings on the TV and it would revert back to the old ones. It was making me CRAZY. Well, there was a reason and we didn't know it because we didn't read the manual. The set was still in the store demo mode. Once that is changed, your changes to the setup will remain. I feel I also need to address the Motion technology in this TV. I do not understand the science behind how it works but I can say that I do not care for it. It seems to make the picture jump every now and then. I have disabled it and everything is better now. I don't have blur or anything like that..... and the picture no longer jumps. The only other thing I have noticed about this TV is the difficulty we had programming our Harmony remote to work with it. For a while, we just didn't think it was ever going to work. This TV doesn't change inputs by switching channels like our old TV. It is a menu-based thing. Harmony had a bit of a difficult time with that. After doing much research online, we found that changing the timing of the remote's functions made a world of difference in the way things work. By changing the timing, we were able to allow everything to happen in the right order instead of having the remote do everything quickly and the TV not having enough time to respond. The remote works fine now. Now that we have ironed out the kinks and adjusted to a whole new way of TV/movie viewing, I am very happy with this purchase. It looks fantastic, works fantastic, and was a good value monitarily. I would recommend this set to anyone in the market for a 55" flat-screen!

Buy this for movies, especially Blu-ray
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendGreat picture, but take that with a grain of salt, I'm not a tech expert. I game a lot, and it was really failing in that department (huge amount of video and audio lag) until I discovered game mode hidden among the menu options, which solved all the problems I was having (albeit sacrificing the refresh rate and superior image quality, but still better than my previous 1080i TV). DVD's and blu-ray's are AMAZING on this thing (even running from a launch day PS3). Blowing up the picture of normal cable on this tv really pixelates the picture at this 55" size, but that's my fault for not having an HD signal source. It has more inputs and added features that I would ever need. The sound is weird, I have to adjust the volume A LOT depending on the input source, although once adjusted the sound is great. I like that the backlight auto-dims based on the lighting, but maybe I'm imagining things.

Awesome TV at a great price
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI recently replaced my Sony SXRD 55" with this Samsung LED 55" and I could not be happier. The picture is so sharp, it made my previous TV seem like it was not even HD. The setup was extremely easy, with plenty of HDMI ports, optical audio ports Composite and more. The sound is good, not great, but that's why we have receivers and surround sound systems! The ability to access Youtube, Netflix, etc. is a big bonus. The only drawback is that even though I have a wireless home network and a couple of wireless USB hubs, I had to buy the SAMSUNG brand USB hub for an additional $80 because all others are not compatible. Shame on you Samsung!

Samsung delivers the hot picture again!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWow is all I can say about the image quality and over quality of this TV. You really can’t judge in the store how good this looks until you get it home, plug in your HDMI Blu-ray player and then adjust the settings and turn of the Picture Options | Auto motion Plus for the Blu-ray input. Everyone has commented on the images this screen displays. It is built like a fine scientific instrument. I was looking for the best non-3D display Samsung makes and have been rewarded with spectacular image quality. This is my second Samsung LCD TV and my fourth Samsung LCD display. Even though the reviews for Panasonic are better, Panasonic had never had the long term quality of their electronics and then there was controversy with reviewers about rapid loss of black levels in their plasma display. One thing Samsung has going is their durability and performance over the long term. I was flirting with the idea of buying a plasma display. Because I watch so many movies in 2.35:1, burn in was a real concern. I decided to go instead with this LED/LCD with 7 million to 1 contrast ratio. With the polarized plastic screen, the blacks are really dark. There is also a lot of reflection off the screen but I can deal with that, since I have a dedicated media are where the lighting is controlled. There is a caveat with this the plastic screen, it needs special care to get it clean if you get fingerprints or smudges on it, which is what happened during the install. Had to contact Samsung customer service to see what they recommended to get the skin oil off, which was Monster Screen Clean, which I went back and purchased at Best Buy. You might want to pick some up when you buy this TV. I would also recommend removing dust from the screen using compressed air, blowing side ways, not toward the screen.

Superb picture and design...
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love this TV. Best purchase I've ever made. Very slim design, beautiful picture, and great features. Make sure you also purchase the right size Samsung Ultraslim wall mount to hang it up (Model W1000B, SKU 9251677). It will look like a pretty picture hanging on your wall. Through wireless connectivity, I can now stream pictures from my PC when I'm not watching TV. Very happy.

Q: Questionhow to connect this tv to the internet?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Although on page 30 of your manual, you should have a section dedicated to connecting your unit to the internet, you will basically need either a wired connection or a wifi connection (with the Samsung Linkstick, sold separately) going from the TV to an internet connected home router. You will find more detailed instructions as to how to connect the TV to the internet and how to add security in the manual. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionThe Samsung site only lists UN55C6900VF..how is this model different? What is the difference between UN55C6900VF on Samsung's site vs. UN55C6900 at Best Buy? Is this the Smart TV with Web-Connected Samsung Apps?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I'm sorry for the confusion. These two models are actually the same units. The last few characters in the model number are used by Samsung for shipping and tracking purposes mainly and are sometimes used by retailers to better track their own inventory. Very rarely do these characters mean that the units offer different features or sizes. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionDoes the 6900 model have audio sync problems of audio to mouth movement?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Audio Sync issues are not normal on any Samsung TV. Samsung stands behind all their TVs and will service and repair the unit if there is a detrimental problem with your set (all within the manufacturer's warranty’s time frame and guide lines). If you have the C6900, and it is suffering from any issue what-so-ever, please contact your local Best Buy for more information or refer to your TV's manual for info on contacting Samsung Service. -MrSamsung

Q: Questionhow do i get to 120hz mode?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer As a matter of fact, the UN55C6900 is a fully capable 120Hz set and offers the Auto Motion Plus feature that enhances said 120Hz image. This set will always upscale your 60Hz signal to 120Hz, regardless of any settings you may have active. However, in order to receive the full 120Hz benefit, you will need to have AMP active. Again, the screen it self will always display at 120Hz, but once you turn on AMP, the screen will be producing the enhanced 120Hz by calculating the frames that would appear between 2 given frames at any time from the original signal. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionWhy can't the 6900 download HD movies form Netflix, Vudu, or CinemaNow?I have thoroughly tested the wired internet connection to my Samsung 6900 and have verified download speeds of 16 Mbps at the connection to the HDTV. However, the 6900 is only capable of downloading at 3.5 Mbps, and therefore, cannot download Netflix, Vudu, or CinemaNow movies at sufficient speed to watch in high definition (required 5 Mbps download speed). Has anyone been able to work around this design flaw in the Samsung 6900?
Asked by RocketScience.
- A:Answer Straight out of the box my 6900 downloaded HD movies from Netflix. No special settings, I simply selected one of the HD movies that I put in my Netflix cue and it worked without issue. My first check would be to verify the network performance I'm getting with my PC using an internet speed test website such as "Speakeasy" and gauge what speed your network provider is really supplying to your home.
