Samsung 8000 Series 82in. Great TV
Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I have 3 other Samsung 8000 series and this one is the biggest. It made the 65 inch looked a lot smaller than it is. I chose the Samsung 8000 Series over its QLED because of the prize and, I cannot tell the difference in picture quality between the QLED and the 8000 Series. They are both 4K displays and when compared side by side in other stores, the picture quality is the same to me. The QLED might have features that the 8000 Series does not have but for my use, I probably will not notice or need to use them so I don’t want to pay for something I will not use. I’ve had the TV for 3 days now and I have played some 4K contend from NETFLIX, VUDU, Amazon Prime, and Google play with no issues. Of course, this is dependent on your internet connectivity. There are no issues with browsing the internet either. I’m not much of a gamer however, I played some games on the TV and it worked great. The TV sound is ok, and I guess is what you would expect but a soundbar or surround system is going to make a huge difference. I have a 7.2 surround system so no issues with sound quality. There are channels in the stands for cable management. Depending on the thickness of your cables, you can fit maybe one or two in these channels in the stands. I was able to fit 2 HDMI cables in the right stand and the power cord in the left one and they are concealed very well in my opinion. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this TV. Go for the QLED or other expensive TVs if you have the funds.

High price tag, no meaningful value
Posted .Features
Quality4 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5If you are looking for a TV with great value, look elsewhere. If you got money to burn and would like to make a terrible purchase, please be my guest. I bought this TV in December 2019 and received it early January 2020. The TV is performs pretty good. As expected of QLED panels, they have really good brightness when it comes to HDR content. When compared to the LG CX that I have, this takes the cake in brighter scenes. Great for watching movies. In terms of gaming, it's sufficient. The latency in game mode is responsive. If you play games on a PS4, this can pass Dolby Digital Plus for multi-channel sound. The problem is, this is annoying for anyone who has invested in decent sound systems that rely on eARC. Dolby Digital Plus is not lossless format. For newer consoles such as the PS5, it no longer passes Dolby Digital Plus so basically you're screwed from utilizing any proper Multi-channel sound system. Since this TV lacks ARC, it cannot do Multi-channel PCM(above 2.0) or Dolby Atmos passthrough. It is completely absurd that it cannot do this since they have Sound bars that are able to utilize Dolby Atmos. Without their being a passthrough, you are forced to connect the computer to the sound bar which then becomes a problem for input lag in playing in consoles. Ideally, you want to connect the console straight to the TV to minimize this. Which brings me to my next point of why the score is 2 stars instead of me giving this a potential 4. I spoke to a Samsung Rep before about this TV and raised the concern about the lack of eARC support. This TV boasted its "future proof" offerings such as HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.1 is not needed in order to pass eARC. There are receivers that have HDMI 2.0 that can make use of eARC. After doing some research, it appears that Samsung has promised time and time again that they will provide an update to enable eARC on the 2019 QLED TVs(Q90R/Q900R). I urge anyone to do a search on Samsung's community forums or check out Vincent Teoh's video in YouTube where he interviews someone from Samsung with regards to eARC update. Samsung has promised this feature originally in 2019. They pushed it back again and again. Now it's almost the end of 2020 and we still have not received it. Now this to me is a huge disappointment not just to the product but to Samsung's TV division as well. They marketed this TV for being the first TV to have HDMI 2.1. In reality, their HDMI 2.1 was most likely not up to spec. Partially, I can blame HDMI for being the utter trash it is for always being a problem in every new version it releases. Still, if you want to watch a movie and game, this movie can do it. There's also no risk of burn in compared to the OLEDs. However, based on the value of this TV and how much Samsung's TV division has forsaken this lineup, you're better off looking for a lower model. This TV will most likely not be getting an eARC update which is a funny idea since they apparently released an eARC update for their sound bars. It astounds me that they try to build an ecosystem but then gave up at some point and you can't fully utilize them. Another things this TV will most likely never get is Dolby Vision. I get it that Samsung wants to push to keep the HDR10+ but having the Dolby Vision option should be given to customers. Lastly, you will most likely not be getting any updates for Gsync or HGIG. If you plan on connecting a computer or laptop that uses Nvidia GPUs, you will be forced to use VSync. For something that demanded a high price tag, the software updates on this TV are very superficial. LG has been more proactive in adding features that matter and actually fixing problems. Speaking of issues, I also have an issue with this TV on a PS5 where it appears that there is a scanning effect from time to time. At first I thought it was screen tearing issue but apparently it wasn't. I'm not gonna hold my breath that Samsung will fix this. Currently, In the end, I have moved onto the LG CX 55" that I have in my office. While not as bright as the Q900R, the features are more meaningful. Personally, I will not be buying any Samsung TVs if they do not at least deliver on the eARC update. If ever they do, I might reconsider.
