A: I didn’t do the software update and just did the plug and play to test. It was running the full speed. But I had read that you can ask the Geek Squad to update the firmware though I’m not sure if they charge for that.
Q: Do you need an anti-static bracelet or pad to install this SSD into the PS5?
A: If you buy it with the heat sink you don't need anything else. Its ps5 ready.
A: Total shows 2.01TB Total with 526KB used on mine and has 2.00TB Available
Q: Would this (with the heatsink) fit in a laptop? I have an Asus Zephyrus G15 with an open m.2 slot.
A: Nope, didn't fit. The specs are wrong here -- it's actually 0.35" tall, not 0.09". I removed the heatsink and it fits with the laptop's OEM heatsink.
Q: if I buy this from Best Buy, may I take the PS5 to Geek Squad and they install this?
A: SUPER easy to install. Dont need to be a "Geek" to install. Do it yourself!
A: Worked fine in my ps5. Just format and play. Havnt had an issue yet and it’s been a few months
Q: Can I use this on a PC since it mentions only PS5?
A: The PS5 designation simply means that Sony has approved the use of this chip for their PS5 system. Other than that it's a standard solid state drive, it should install and format as any other SSD would
Q: Does this model need a firmware update before installing into a PS5?
A: Yes! Best Buy will lie to you to make a quick sale and say that it already has latest firmware but it does not!
