Q: QuestionDoes "GPS enabled" mean that navigation is independent of wi-fi?The specs for the Galaxy Player 5.0 include "GPS", but I am unsure of what that entails. Does it mean you can use it like a Garmin/TomTom for traveling, or is this feature dependent on a wi-fi connection?
Asked by L.
- A:Answer Yes, you can use the Galaxy Player 5.0 as a fully functional GPS without a wi-fi connection. I recommend purchasing an app from the android market like CoPilot - $5. This allows you to download all of the maps to your device and use it like a Garmin/Tom Tom. Most android devices have this capability. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7, Xoom, Galaxy S phone, and Galaxy Player 5 and all of them have a GPS chip inside. And for $5, I was able to load CoPilot on all of them. This seems to be a little know fact and I'm not sure why android doesn't market this as an advantage over Apple products?
