This is the first watch to come with Wear 3, the unified platform from Google+Fitbit and Samsung. The goal was to merge Google's large app ecosystem with Samsung's performance and battery life, plus Fitbit's health capabilities. After using this watch for a few days, I can finally say I don't really miss my Apple Watch from when I used iPhone.
First off, the design. This watch is light, but feels super premium and holds up well. For an aluminum build, this feels much more expensive then that. It's super smooth and looks well polished. I've taken the watch tubing down a river, dirt road biking, and of course through everyday work life, and the watch doesn't even show a scratch.
The performance of this watch is pretty fast. Everything loads WAY faster then my previous Wear 4100 powered Wear 2 watch, and that's even with the pleasing animations of the watch faces and tiles widgets. The only thing that has a notable delay is pulling up Samsung Pay, which even then is around a 0.5 second wait.
Battery life is around 2 days when I'm pushing it with GPS tracking and always on workout display, I can get 3 days when not using the GPS. I haven't used a Wear OS watch that's actually lasted more then 24 hours so this was pretty impressive for me, but coming from Tizen watches this might be a little downgrade.
Finally, the software. The one downside to previous Samsung Wearables was the lack of apps in the Galaxy Store. The problem with Wear OS was lackluster performance and battery. Imagine a software solution where neither of those is a problem. This is what the new Wear 3 is like. You have full access to the Google Play store from this watch, which has WAYYYY more apps then the Galaxy Store. Then you have a familiar UI that looks just like, and performs just as fast as, Tizen. You also get a fast watch that has good battery life too.
I really have zero complaints with this watch. While I have no concerns, there still might be a few things you want to consider, as these might affect you.
-Currently, you can't switch Bixby for Google Assistant. Samsung says it's coming soon. In the meantime, Bixby works well enough.
-ECG is only available when paired with a Samsung phone. Not a selling point for me, my old Galaxy Watch 3 never actually let me use this feature because I'm too young anyways, haha.
-Due to the OS switch, the Galaxy Watch 4 series is not compatible with iPhone.
If you have an Android phone, this watch is the best you can get for now regardless of what you want from your smartwatch. As more manufacturers release Wear 3 powered watches, this may possibly change, but seeing how no one else has even rumored a Wear 3 watch yet, that might be a long time away.
I really like the Watch 4 and the upgraded features. They are awesome. The watch itself is great! Finally being able to use Pandora makes me happy. But the band is awful. It is more aesthetically pleasing but the functionality is terrible. Had to pull the band off my Active 2, which is what this one replaced after it went kaput. The ends that attach to the watch are curved to fit it but that means they don't form well around your wrist and stand up/flare out. They're much thicker and the clasp is blocky instead of rounded. This may not be an issue for some but buyers should be aware. That is the only reason for not giving 5 stars.
This is an excellent smart watch, maybe even the best one available right now, especially in the Android market. It does everything I wanted it to in the health tracking department with the ability of a simple app mod easily found online that unlocks the features that were "blocked" like the blood pressure function. Most importantly it's a watch which I desperately needed. I really think the ability to customize the watch face is nearly endless with a couple of utilities I've found and then the premade ones. Even the default size watch band had a good size slot for my smaller wrist. The battery life has been pretty good despite using most of the features. I am happy with the device.
Extra shout-out to Best Buy and their excellent service for doing what Samsung couldn't which was actually get it to me and have actual customer support if there was a problem like when FedEx dropped the ball. Complete 5 star experience.

Finally a perfect android watch!
Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.
Finally a android watch worth keeping!!! Ive not found a watch that ive been happy with until now. Ive had them all garmin, samsung, fitbit, android(multiple brands) and even apple. The apple watch was the only one i liked but hated the phone. This corrects everything i thought was wrong with them. Thanks samsung!
Remeber this is android wear now so download facer for thousands of watchfaces and google keyboard for the watch. Makes typing way better with swype.
This is my first smartwatch. I was very happy with the ability to customize the widgets. In particular I like that I can set the biking app as one of three quick apps to select.
The battery life appears to last well more than 24 hours and it charges rather quickly.
I really like that i can track my heart rate for the duration of my workouts.
The 44mm size fit me as a man quite well. The band is more comfortable than i expected. I am some who hates the feeling of watches but band doesn't irritate me.
Generally i expect to be happy with this purchase based on my first couple of days with the product.
this is my first smart watch so please keep in mind. Okay, the watch is light, decent battery life, doesn't feel cheaply made if that makes sense, i went with the 44mm size bc i didn't want something bulging or obstructing pockets. If you dont a smartwatch this is a good choice, like most electronics theres always something new around the corner but i dont see myself upgrading for at least 2-3 years.
Love it! I had the active 2 and went swimminng and it stopped working. I have been waiting for this one to come out. It looks amazing! It feels good on the wrist too. I like the new software it was easy to get used to. The only downfall i have with it is the battery life is not the best. But it does seem to charge faster then my other samsung watches in the past. Overall very happy with this watch.
Let me start by saying, I've had more smart watches than I can count. I've had multiple Android Wear watches, previous Samsung watches and two Apple Watches, so I've had some great smart watches and some not so great.
The Galaxy Watch 4 is the closest Android has gotten to having it's own Apple Watch, especially if you're the owner of a Samsung phone.
To keep it short and sweet, it has the best of Samsung and Google. The watch is super fluid, the screen is absolutely gorgeous and so far the battery life has been pretty good. Bixby is now in a place where I can rely on it for voice dictation and replies. The design is super lightweight, I sometimes forget it's there.
If you're on the fence, I recommend it.
A:AnswerI think you should stick with BB. I wish I did. Because some other sites. Have pushed bake delivery dates. From August 27. To October. By then the brick &morter stores will be selling them. Which blows a big one.
A:AnswerYes, the bands can be removed very easily just like they were in the last couple of releases, Samsung has made it very easy for you to buy bands, even if they are from actually watches you own. I'm not sure if they will be releasing their own line of bands though, no word on that just yet.
