A: You really don’t need a phone. I’m an iPhone user and I purchased this camera and it works great with my iPhone XS. It works with Samsung or iOS. Most of the time I don’t use my phone tho and just point and shoot. You can access everything you need right from the camera. Switch to video, switch to just front or rear camera for non 360 shots, etc. all from the camera itself. I highly recommend it, and Typically only connect to my phone to view the photos, and it connects easy and fast every time. Hope that helps, if you have any questions ask away!
Q: Would it be feasible for this camera to be used as a baby monitor?
A: You could, but it eats up a lot of bandwith and data. It may slow down your network if you're streaming over your WiFi. There's probably better options for less money, but if you want this anyway, it could be done as a temporary thing or as a portable one like when at granny's house or something
Q: Can you use the 360 camera by itself without having to install the app on your phone?
A: Yes, but in a limited capacity. It is very cumbersome to use with out the app. This device works with all flag ship Samsung devices from the previous 3 generations and with IOS. You can also use it on any other android device via the Google Street View app, however you can not control the light settings through the Street View app. The least expensive device to use solely for the app would be an iPhone SE or a Samsung Galaxy 6.
A: You need to zoom up to get a normal looking picture Use your mouse to move in any direction while zoomed to get the picture you want
Q: What size (storage) SD card would be recommended for this?
A: I used a 128GB Samsung EVO SD card (currently on sale). This provides for just under 13 hours of full 360 recording. However, I discovered that the device splits long videos in to clips of just under 12 minutes each, and it takes a long time to save a clip that long to the phone's storage.
Q: Can you post YouTube videos With this camera??
A: Yes. There is free software you can download to your PC or Mac for stitching and sharing. You can't do much editing though. You can also live stream to YouTube and/or Facebook if tethered to your Android or iOS smartphone using their Samsung app.
Q: Can I access the camera from anywhere using my cellphone?Do l only need Wi Fi connection?
A: Yes, this camera allows access from anywhere via the Samsung Gear 360 app and you can control your camera remotely.
Q: how closely will this focus?
A: Unfortunately, you have to be pretty close to focus it. There is no remote control feature to focus it. I tried using my TV remote but it didn't always work.
