This is a great external drive if you want the ultimate in speed. Transfer multiple gigabytes in seconds. I use it to edit videos on final cut. I keep my FC library on this drive and do all editing on it. It gets a little hot, but not too much. Works flawlessly. It’s not cheap, and obviously you need thunderbolt 3 connectivity (it will not work with USB C even though the port looks the same). I have two of these drives and have had no problems.

Using this as an external storage for my mac book. It is good at that and looks durable. yet to see how long it would last. The few annoying things is that it gets really warm to the touch, plus it's not flat like other drives, it's thicker than my laptop :(
