Pretty good for free service.
||Posted .Been wanting something decent, without having to pay a monthly subscription. When first linking the power doorlock, and switches around the house, there was a bit or retrying to get them to connect. After connecting, everything has worked flawlessly. The accessories that come with this kit aren't the greatest, and we don't use them. However, other fixtures that we've purchased are fanastic with this hub. Pretty awesome pulling into the driveway at night and having the outdoor lights turn on and the front door unlocking automatically.

A very good DIY wireless security system...
||Posted .This system is easy to configure with simple, thorough instructions, very good and prompt tech support and is highly expandable with add-on modules from the same brand as well as many others. I've used a number of other non-Samsung modules with it and they all seem to be working very well.

Excellent Smart Home Solution
||Posted .This system works well with a variety of reasonably priced options. I did find a bug (known issue) with the mobile app and the Samsung Galaxy phone but that is really the only problem. I was hoping for a little longer range on the motion detectors but I think that overall the system performs very well for the price. I like the ease of use and the wide range of partners.

The App is Confusing.
||Posted .I use it to connect some of my smart home products work with Google Home. The motion sensor and multipurpose sensor are much better than my Insteon motion sensor. The App homepage is really confusing. There is no way to close the security camera and leak setting option on the App homepage.

Battery Problems
||Posted .Another Samsung product with battery issues. I purchased a smart things hub 2 months ago. A few days ago I get an email saying the new firmware will fix an issue with the batteries. Then yesterday I get another email saying Samsung might replace the batteries or offer a website discount. I never got an email saying I NEED to check the batteries or there IS an issue. I opened my hub and the batteries have white corrosion all over. I contacted smart things support and they sent me to a website that says batteries should be checked every year. My hub is 2 months old and I wonder if I can trust it. After I continued to question the issue I was offered a replacement hub but there is no way to move all the devices and smart rules to the replacement hub. That's hours of work to set up a new hub.

Excellent home security and automation opportunity
Posted .Been about a week+ since I bought this kit. I was on a lookout for sometime... the battery support to keep hub running in case of power loss, and less cloud usage to process signals, made me take the leap, as soon as smartthings v2 was released. I am a first time smartthings buyer... so it's been a learning experience for me, on how to use the kit to make the most out of it. Here is how I am using it right now... - One door sensor went on the main door, the second one on garage door. They both also measure temperature... which is great! - The motion sensor was placed in the living room, corner wall. I use it to disarm my house when any motion happens after 5:30am. Obviously for alerts when home is in armed (away) mode. - The switch...it has a heat blower connected to it! It's turned on when the motion sensor measured temperature is at 64 degrees. It turns off when the temperature reaches 68. This allowed me to reduce heat setting on the home thermostat and hopefully save on heating cost. Some learning's - There are cheaper zwave devices that can do the same job, that are much cheaper and they integrate with smartthings. So not sure if this kit is a runaway deal! - Smartthings mobile presence is a hit-miss. It relies on unreliable phone location setting to arm/disarm house. There are just too many misfires, because my phone's gps location determination is unreliable. I wish there was a easier way... like being connected to home wifi or not. - AT this time you can not add multiple family member phones to smartthings. I had to log in with my account on my wife's phone. I think it confuses the hub too. - There is no easy tasker integration (which i use a lot on my phone)...learn coding, then maybe. Overall - I am happy i bought this. Gives me peace of mind when i am out, that home is monitored - I am planning to buy more devices as I learn how to use them to either save money or effort by automating. - It would become much better if smartthings can sort out the multi user login issue, and allow mobile presence detection via wifi connection. Overall - I recommend you buy it if your on the fence

Good product but have its flaws.
||Posted .So far so good until SmartThings upgrade it's software. I was notified of its upgrade but the system didn't come back online on its own as it requires reboot. I was unhappy because I was traveling when it happened and I was counting on it to monitor my home while I was away. I was not able to monitor my home while I was away until I perform the reset my self. I consider this method of SmartThings to be wrong as it failed its purpose. I should have asked an option to permit the upgrade than autonomously performing the upgrade without my control. I own this equipment, nobody should do anything on it without my permission. One of the very reason of my purchase is to monitor my home security while I am away so it should be reliable when I am away.

Great security system for an apartment
||Posted .I like how this system alerts you via text and with a camera it's easy to see what has triggered the motion sensor. I would have given this item a higher score except for the hub going down the other night after 2 weeks with no problem. In my case I was around home and could reset the hub when I got back. This is my issue with the product, no way to reset if your on vacation and far away. You have to push the reset manually on the back of the hud, Kinda defeats the need for the equipment. I was alerted by the company that they had some sort of glitch, when I voice my concern via e-mail, they did respond with a sorry and s promise to get back to me when they were done dealing with all their models. For now I'm going to say I wouldn't recommend this product until I here from them as to a resolution to this issue.

Q: QuestionIs it possible to watch your home while on vaction ? Iets say 2,000 to 3,000 miles from home
Asked by Merritt.
- A:Answer Mathew here with SmartThings Support. You can monitor all of your Things as long as your hub has an active internet connection and you have an internet-connected smartphone with the SmartThings app installed. You can even connect security cameras to view live from within the SmartThings app!

Q: QuestionHas anyone tried to pair this with devices from the Lowes IRIS system that has abandoned us with their Gen 2 hub.
Asked by Ken.
- A:Answer Hi Ken, Ellen with SmartThings support here. The first generation of the Lowes IRIS sensors use a proprietary Zigbee signal and won't work with SmartThings. Though the later generations of the Lowes IRIS sensors aren't officially supported to work with SmartThings they use standard Zigbee same as the SmartThings Hub and some members of our community have been able to use them successfully. If you don't mind doing some tinkering to get things working you may still be able to use them with SmartThings. It's one of the great things about our open platform! I highly recommend checking out our Community if you're not already a member and would like some more information. https://community.smartthings.com/
