Samsung SmartThings Hub: Use your compatible smartphone as a remote for your home's smart thermostat, locks, lights and other smart devices when you download the SmartThings app and connect to this hub, which offers up to 100' range to reach smart devices throughout your home. A battery backup provides peace of mind.
A: The communication technology (Z-Wave, Zigbee) allows the signals to be relayed from one device to the next. You will never need more than one hub. I have a large home and all of the devices work flawlessly. NOTE: The initial setup of a device will need to be done near the hub, like with 20 feet. Once it is connected to the smart network, it will communicate through all other devices to the hub.
A: Yes, this is the V2 hub that includes a battery backup as well as some other enhancements
Q: What's the purpose. Up the Hub and what does it doi
A: It translates commands sent from say Alexa to your smart devices in your home.
Q: Can I connect more than one cell phone to recieve text alerts from the hub.
A: Smartthings is installed on my phone with my credentials. My wife installed the app on her phone using her own credentials. On my ST app I enabled her, specifying her phone number, to have access. She has full access and can receive push notifications and txt msgs along with me. There may be other ways on how to achieve joint msgs but this worked for me.
A: I'm not certain, but I believe I read that it is compatible to Nest devices. It no longer controls MyQ. I understand that MyQ dropped them because of the mass of hits on their servers. I personally don't believe the reason. I think it more than likely is a money issue. However, SmartThings no longer controls MyQ. Hopefully someday it will come back.
Q: If the internet connection is lost, will I get notified? How?
A: If you have registered your hub with Samsung, created an account and have linked your hub to your account, the online service will notify you via the smartthings app when your home internet connection goes down. It will tell you that it lost connectivity with the hub - and subsequently tell you when it is reconnected ....
A: The HUB connects to your router just like a computer or a smart TV.
Q: Can this control Phillips Hue lights?
A: Yes, this can control Philips Hue lights but must be connected via the Philips Hue Ethernet Bridge; direct connection is not yet supported.
