Very happy overall.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 65 inch 4k TV (brand is Element, bought from Costco a few months ago). I have a Samsung 4k upconvert blu ray player and was happy with that, but wanted this true 4k when it came out and fortunately I ordered it just on time (because a few minutes later, Bestbuy ran out.) Got it quickly in the mail - 2 days UPS - nicely packed. It is connected to Vizio SB3821-C6 38" 2.1 Bluetooth Soundbar via digital output. Internet via ethernet cable and to the TV with the same HDMI cable that I was using before. Regular DVD looks good. Didn't expect it to look * that * good, but when I popped a blu ray disk in, it really was stunning. First played Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) blu ray. I didn't expect it to upconvert 1080p source to 4k that well. Very sharp (without noises). No color bleedings. (Default setting on TV, and following settings on the player: Deep Color: on, Resolution at 2060p, 24p to on. Later tried Everest blu ray from Netflix that came in today. It looked amazing. A visiting friend felt it looked great, too. I tried playing it with the other Samsung 4k upconvert player, and honestly, I thought the true 4k player looked better. We tried an episode of Netflix stream show - Frankie and Grace. This is one of the few shows that is in 4k. It loads quickly (I have fast Time Warner Cable 300K speed) - just a few seconds, and no pauses at all. It simply looked AMAZING. My friend and I stood about two feet away from the screen and we were able to see all the juicy details. I thought a regular Blu Ray looks good with this player, but real 4k Netflix looks even better. It was crystal clear. I am not saying that I can't wait until I buy a 4k blu ray movie (on a disk). They are expensive and the selection is still limited (as of now, February 2016). Am looking forward to buying them for newer movies that I do not have on blu ray yet in due course. I use a Canon 5d Mark II with 24-70 mm f 2.8 L lens to take photos of the screen (ASA 1,000, hand held). One is whole screen, and the other is a foot away. I hope these photos are useful. Now the bad news: the remote is small, and it uses (supplied) button battery. Fortunately the old remote that came with the previous BR player works (it is also Samsung.) I can't believe an expensive player like this comes with this tiny remote. There is no fast forward button (or go back) - you'd have to hold the "next chapter" button down to do that. Many people are going to be upset about this. Lastly, no HDMI cable either.

Worlds First UHD 4K Player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paired with a Samsung UN65JS9000 SUHD TV. The player loads very fast, 3 seconds and lets you go directly to the disc menu. The Ultra HD 4K Movies look very deep in color, full and rich with HD. I almost feel like I need to move back from the TV the resolution is so high. the Blu-Ray upscale to 4K looks really good. Now I can watch my entire collection over again.

Awesome visuals
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did't do any research on other 4k players because there is no others on the market. I'm glad it was samsung because they have top quality products. except washers, dryers, and fridges. I'd go with LG. The player syncs up with my samsung 4k tv through my 4k passthrough AV reciever. It's awesome. worth every bit of the absurd high price.

Must have for any home entertainment setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking forward to getting my Sony x930c to reach its full potential but with streaming content it was good but not the best; then I purchased this and some 4K blu Rays and I'm blown away. Movies look amazing! I couldn't be happier with my set up, movie nights will now be at its best!

Great 4k upscaling!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're interested in 4k now or in the future this player is perfect. Having the upscaling for DVD and Blu-ray is great. The player is fast and responsive. Obviously 4k content on a 4k TV is amazing, especially if the TV is HDR compatible! There is also a good selection of apps and such available through the Smart Hub. Overall I think it is a fantastic fist 4k Blu-ray player.

Fantastic Player and True 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have nothing but glowing remarks about this player. The picture quality and audio are superb, and the features/apps are numerous and impressive. Now you may be asking why I gave it 4 stars. It has nothing to do with the player, but in the electronic handshake required to utilize the full 4K this device is capable of. I spent 2 hours on the phone, with Samsung customer support, deciphering the handshake between the player, receiver, and my TV. A new standard named HDCP2.2 is required, and shockingly HDMI cables are not compliant (I use Audioquest Diamon HDMI 2.0 cables). HDMI 2.0 can transmit 4K but not the new copywrite handshake labeled hdcp2.2. Every device in your home theatre needs and requires this new handshake; including sound bars. The way to get around this, is to run your player to your receiver & or tv using the HDMI 2.0 cables and setting your HDR to "on", on all devices. Also, make sure you have the HDMI plugged into an HDMI HDCP Complaint Port on your tv & or receiver. If any one of these links is not HDCP compliant, you will only get 1080p. The player will still pop a "non compliant" message if you run HDMI 2.0 but you will have a true 4K signal transmission & playback.

Beautiful Picture & Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung - Ubd-k8500 4k Ultra Hd Wi-fi Built-in Blu-ray Player - Black is a must have if you own a 4K UHD television! The image quality is stunning and the ability to take advantage of Dolby Atmos soundtracks makes for a fully immersive home theater experience. My only (minor) complaint is the tiny remote. Its rather difficult to operate especially in a darkened room. The directional buttons could stand to be a little larger or at least more defined and discrete. I've included a photo of the remote alone and one with my sausage-like finger for scale. With the price finally dropping on this unit you owe it to yourself to get this product.

Scared Being Early Adopter, But Positive So Far!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to admit, my boyfriend and I were scared being early adopters of the 4K Blu-ray format, but coupled with the 4K Sony UHD XBR-65X930D, the player has been phenomenal handling everything we have thrown at it 4K Blu-ray-wise and even 3D Blu-rays (excels at that too). We have not really played around with the apps on it as we have many more devices for stuff like that, but they are there. We do have occasional HDMI handshake issues with 4K Bu-ray titles, but if you read the online critic reviews, this is normal. Not once (knock on wood) have we had any playback issues with 4K or 3D Blu-ray discs. Only issue we ever had was 4K Blu-ray disc itself, Sicario. Took two Best Buys and three attempts to get one that works. Lionsgate supposedly had authoring problems, again the price you pay for being an early adopter of tech, right? Right! As a bonus it is packed extremely well, has two HDMI outs (so you can run one to enhanced port on 4K TV - a necessity and the other to receiver for dedicated audio) and the onscreen menus seem intuitive (remote is really small though). My boyfriend wrote a review of this player coupled with our Sony 4K TV over here: http://whysoblu.com/4k-sony-xbr65x930d-samsung-ubd-k8500-review/

Q: Questioni have the samsung 4 uhhd tv, ithas allmosr (if notall ) the feautures this player has, do i really need a 4k uhd player if i already have a 4k tv
Asked by ayoknights.
- A:Answer If your TV has HDMI 2.0a with HDCP 2.2 then yes, this will be worth it. Your TV may be 4K, and it may be able to upscale images to 4K, but the player will allow 4K PLUS UHD to be seen on your TV. Right now many apps will not stream UHD to your TV. The player will allow you to watch 4K UHD disks AND UHD from certain apps.

Q: Questionam I still getting 4k UHD when I play 4k movies, but with out the HDR.I have a Sony XBR49X850B 4K UHD Tv with a Pioneer - 1155W 7.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver VSX-1130-K, after looking at the specs of my Tv it doesn't have HDR am I still getting 4k UHD when I play 4k movies, but with out the HDR.

- A:Answer You should still be getting the full 4K potential from your tv. Make sure to go in and customize it so that you have the highest resolution as the default and, just as important, turn off the 24fps option on both machines. This way, you should get either 50 or 60fps with your 4K, which is optimal. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionIs this a TRUE 4k dvd player, not an upscale model?
Asked by FerrariFan68.
- A:Answer Yes it plays the real 4K discs but I couldn't tell any difference between a 4K disc on this player and a regular blu-ray upscaled.

Q: QuestionI have a 2015 Samsung SUHDTv. How do I know if the HDR for the 4k blu rays?
Asked by NW123.
- A:Answer You can turn the HDR on and off for your HDMI inputs. Using your tv remote press menu, select picture, and then picture options. In this sub listing you'll select the title "HDMI UHD Color". This is where you can turn the HDR on and off. You'll need to unplug your HDMI cable from the tv for the reset required to implement this change.

Q: QuestionCan`t seem to stream amazon instant video or netflix in 4k on this player?is anyone else having this issue that has it besides me i have a 4k tv and i am using hdmi 2.0 cables on it but only shows 1080p and my internet is fast enough ti stream 4k.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer There are two possibilities: 1. Are you running HDMI thru an A/V receiver? If so, the receiver needs to be HDCP 2.2 compliant, and if you purchased it prior to this year, it probably does not. The work around is to use the 2nd HDMI output on the player to the A/V receiver and the first output to an HDCP 2.2 compliant input on the TV. 2. Your TV is an older 4k model made before the HDCP 2.2 standard was completed. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this issue, and everything will be output at 1080p or less.

Q: QuestionWill this work on my TV?I have a UN55HU7250 Samsung 4K TV will the HDMI inputs on this TV allow me to view the native 2160p resolution? Or am I SOL and need to purchase a newer TV, I understand that HDR is not supported on this model.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, but you will need to use the HDMI 3 port, which is HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2 support or upgrade one connect box to the new one connect box which all HDMI ports will meet the newer standards HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-uhd-evolution-kit-silver/7096015.p?id=1219668770669&skuId=7096015
