Bought this to beef up my 256GB M2 Mini and added a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD drive and a 12TB external drive. I mapped the application cache directory to the root of the 1TB drive and use the external drive for data, leaving the native drive to core system resources. It's been over a year now and I'm happy to report that Ihaven't had any issues with this setup, and everything runs fast and smooth :)

Housekeeping: IMPORTANT NOTE - Not the fault of the dock, but as of the time of this review, none of the SSD drives sold by Best Buy are compatible with this Dock. The dock only accepts 2280 SATA SSDs, and is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NVMe SSDs. I stress this because Best Buy support stated that it was compatible, and we went through the annoyance of purchase and set-up only to find that the set-up was non-functioning. Now on to the Review... - Dock is aesthetically near-perfect for M1 or M2 aluminum finished Mac Mini. Fit, finish, and build quality is truly spot-on. Love it. - Horizontal form factor is quite pleasing as long as you have the desk space. If not, look to other manufacturer's vertical dock options. - Please note: front USB ports are not for charging devices per the manufacturer and are (obviously, given that the unit's whole connection is 5 Gbps) not thunderbolt or for video output. - Performance is slower than many other options (5 Gbps), but that's fine if you are OK with that and are prioritizing the form factor. Unfortunately, no true thunderbolt docks are available at this time, so you are really comparing to other dock options offering 10 Gbps. Personally, given that the above reduced the dock to a very pretty SD Card port for our purposes, we decided to go with a slightly faster (10Gbps) NVMe-compatible vertical dock with similar ports AND a separate high-speed enclosure with a higher-capacity NVMe SSD for lightning-fast storage (both from another vendor). Our main rational behind ordering this initially was to put the whole set-up under our TotalCare+ tech support, but--unfortunately--that proved to be a waste of time given the bad advice from Best Buy on compatibility.

Great rock for Mac mini, bought the 1tb of extra storage that fits in dock for lots of extra storage and backup space, but most of all lots of extra ports for accessories
