Scavenger Hunt: An Unlikely Union
For years, wild California Condors have been unsurpassed as the largest land birds in North America, and the most magnificent. Their populations began to decline during the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. Interested to know and identify the precipitating factors that account for this, a group of scientists banded together and discovered that lead poisoning from ammunition is the likely culprit - not unlike the devastating effects of DDT on the peregrine falcon and the bald eagle populations many years prior. This documentary joins a group of condor biologists as they venture to Northern Arizona and examine the lead-Condor relationship, ultimately concluding that fragmentation from lead bullets is detrimental to all species, avian and non. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
