Great External Hard Drive for Xbox One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this item about a year ago around Black Friday & Cyber Monday when it was on sale. I've been using it since it arrived in the mail to store the games that I bought after the hard drive. I have 86 games stored on the hard drive with DLCs and updates. However, hard drive storage space is 4.5 TB (0.5TB used for functionality), and USB 3.0 connection gives me no noticeable lag speed. I used up 90% of 500 GB Xbox One storage before I had this hard drive. Now, I only used about 10% total data (I didn't transfer any data I and use both the internal and external hard drive) with the external hard drive for my current new games and expansions. I would recommend this external device for anyone who receives monthly games with Xbox Live "Games with Gold", Xbox 360 games, and buys games on side. This device ended any future dilemmas I had with installing and uninstalling games that to make room for more games. I haven't tried the device on my PC since it has ample storage built in, but I might later in the future when Steam Games and Mods take up too much space. With this external hard drive, I have no concern about size games I install or download.

Tons of space!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my Xbox one and I am so glad I did. I have about 40 games for the system and before I got this I had to delete a game to add a game. This thing makes that idea obsolete. It holds a ton of games not sure of how many but I would guess easily into the 100s. I got this on sale for a little over 100 dollars and it was a no brainer for me. The company that makes it is great I have not had any problems out of any of their products in the past. It is the same brand as I build my PC's with. If you can get this at a decent deal and need space it is a nice one to get. The size of it is decently small I didn't measure it maybe in the description but easily sits next to my Xbox one on the stand I have it on.

An excellent option for Xbox one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I specifically bought this for my Xbox one so I can't comment on PC or Mac connectivity. It likely works fine on both, but I got it when on a short term sale just for the Xbox. On Xbox one you simply plug it in and the Xbox immediately recognized it and asked if I wanted to format it to store games on. It was up and running shortly and so far, has worked like a charm. I can't notice any speed difference playing games off this external vs the internal drive which is fine by me. I just needed the space since the Xbox one doesn't necessarily have a user replaceable hard drive. So there you go, for Xbox one you get massive space for your games and the performance for me at least is the same as the internal drive, if you can find this on sale, I highly recommend it.

A well performing drive thats great for backups
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to add to my set of rotating backup drives I use to back up my home server. My current set of 3 & 4 Tb drives are getting full so I needed a new drive to add to the set to extend the rotation period of each drive. The drive is easy to use and quiet which is a must for me. USB 3.0 also helps decrease my current backup time by about 30-35%. The bottleneck now appears to be the ability of my home server to push data down to the system the drive is attached to. I have only used it for a short time. I disconnect the backup drive and store it in a safe in between backup sessions so that means it is not in constant use like most external drives. During the ~2 days I had it out and in use I noticed no problems or any thing exemplary about it. I expect this Seagate to last as long as the 4 others I use in my backup set and that is a long time indeed. I plan to purchase more the next time I need a new drive or I decide its time to finally replace some of my much older drives. Until I use it a lot more I cannot say if it is an outstanding drive or simply a very good one. For that reason I will not give it 5 stars. (You have to earn a top score in my book, I never give it without some evidence or experience to back it up.)

Unbelievable pricing and storage capacity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As we all know the storage systems just keep getting larger. When I went looking for this drive, I had purchased the same model for use at work at 3TB. When I looked for that drive again, the 5TB was suggested and the price was lower than I had spent three weeks earlier for the smaller drive. Set up is incredibly easy. Find a power outlet (not the easiest thing in my household these days) Locate the appropriate USB port. 3.0 preferred but the drive is 2.0 compatible. You will suffer the expected loss of speed using the 2.0 though. Turn on the drive, copy files. Pairing the drive with my newer vintage Netgear Nighthawk router, using their EasyShare technology, I was able to plug the drive directly into the router and make it immediately available to the entire home network. With a drive this big, I will have backup for the five Pentium systems and multiple mobile devices for a long time to come. The only down side I've seen, so far.... where and how do you back up this monster!

Simple But Slow In USB 2.0
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Seagate Expansion 5 TB external drive is not as physically large as the other external drives I have. There are vent holes on the back and the bottom of the case for passive cooling. Two items are included, a power supply and a USB 3.0 cable. After 3 hours of constant USB 2.0 data transfer the Seagate Expansion 5 TB external drive was only slightly warm to the touch so apparently there will not be an overheating concern. Easy hookup since all you do is plug it in and it is ready for drop and drag movement of files. I am currently copying 1.7 TB of video files where each file is 1 to 3 TB in size and using a USB 2.0 connections between the drives. The speed is slower than usual with transfer rates of 13.8 to 16.4 MB/s and the transfer of 1.7 TB of videos is estimated to take over 22 hours. That is much slower than I am use to for USB 2.0 but for me it is a backup hard drive only and not a computing hard drive. I would not recommend this as a fast access data drive when connected via USB 2.0. A USB 3.0 connection should make a huge difference for the transfer speed of the Seagate Expansion 5 TB drive but will also increase the heat output of the drive. If using USB 3.0 for large continuous data transfers I suggest monitoring the heat of the Seagate Expansion 5 TB drive until you are satisfied it will not overheat during several hours of continuous data movement. My plans for the Seagate Expansion 5 TB drive is to serve as backup for my three of my older 2 TB drives.

Works great with Xbox One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive is great if you ran out of space on your Xbox One. It can hold hundreds of games and its easy to install, just plug it in [it takes a minute to read] and a screen will show up for you to format it. It is good if you want to maximize your xbox one storage. You can also use it for pc but after you format it on xbox one you wont be able to use it on pc afterword.
