Lots of storage for streaming to mobile Devices
||Posted .Pros Love the ease of use and its ability to stream videos or music to multiple mobile devices. Worked fantastic with my iPad and iPhone !! 500 GB of photos, music, & videos on demand, like WOW, I love it for exactly that reason. CONS Locked up on me. After doing research, I found that doing the firmware update is a must like day one, or it will lock up on you sooner or later and doing a reset (pressing the reset button and the power button for 20 secs isn't in the manual). Can not upload to the Satellite. Would like the ability to upload from an iPad to the satelitte (backup photos)

Very Fast with usb, slow wifi
||Posted .Bought this for mom when ipad ran out of memory because you can download the pics via wireless connection. Works great on usb cable, but on wifi if there is another wifi connection it keeps trying to connect to the other locations and disconnects while trying to download pics. Maybe the firmware will correct some of these problems. Downloading some pics are easy, but if you have personal movies it tends to disconnect.

It just works!
||Posted .Bought this drive to load up my movies for traveling. Worked like a charm on the airplane and in our timeshare. Was able to watch movies on my iPad on the plane and by mirroring it to the big TV at our vacation resort. The wifi came right up and was good for several movies before needing a recharge. Every one was amazed at the physical size of the drive and the number of movies I had loaded to it.

Great for external storage
||Posted .It's not the products fault, but more airlines need to allow wireless.

Great Storage for Ipad
||Posted .I purchased this drive on sale and the price was right. I would recommend this drive for excess storage for your IPad.

Great Companion for the iPad
||Posted .The drive works very well. The last firmware update and iPad application did it for me. The drive now allows you to connect the internet. The drive is compact enough to carry in your pocket. It well constructed and not overly heavy. I purvhased it when it was onsale at 50% off. I should have bought two! Would be great if it had a larger hard drive size.

Great Idea - Failed implementation
||Posted .Seagate came out with a great idea. Tablets and Smart-phones can stream media from a portable hard drive with built-in wifi. PC's too... (Kind of) Up to 3 devices should be able to stream. So, while on my Walt Disney World vacation, I used this on a flight to and from Orlando all the way from California. The battery gave out way too quickly. I had it on the charger well overnight before using it both times. All I can get is roughly an hour of streaming. Not even enough to finish a movie. LAME. This was the whole point of this kind of device. Besides the extremely poor performance of the battery, all else works well except PC streaming. my laptop had difficulty navigating the webpage that's built in to the hard drive's AP. Poor web page design left me wishing Seagate would take a class on website design. Seagate should have allowed PC connections to directly connect and browse like any other NAS out there. BOO.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Q: QuestionDoes it mean tjhat I can connect my IPad to any sites when I'm out of the wirless zone?Does it mean tjhat I can connect my IPad to any sites when I'm out of the wirless zone?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Satellite drive will take over your wireless connection when in use so no internet connections will be possible when using the Satellite drive over your wireless iPad connection.

Q: QuestionCan the wireless hard drive be accessed by more than one computer?
Asked by jaenlaw.
- A:Answer The Seagate GoFlex Satellite Mobile Wireless Storage can be used with other devices wirelessly. It has the capacity for up to 8 devices with our latest firmware (1.3.5) but keep in mind that the more devices you are streaming from, the performance will go down.

Q: QuestionCan I transfer my Photos and Movies from my iPhone or iPad to the drive? This would allow me to download my Pictures and Video on the iPhone or iPad. I have a SD card reader that allows me to transfer camera info to my iPad. I then can move it to the Flex Drive. This frees up my deviced to take more pics while on vacation. This works correct?
Asked by BMac.
- A:Answer There currently isn't any way to upload from the iPad/iPhone to the Satellite drive through the GoFlex Media application. The scenario you have proposed will not work as suggested.

Q: QuestionAfter purchase is there a monthly connection fee to use the servicethis is in addition to purchase price, and would it be useable in UK?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer There is no service. The external hard drive allows you to view files on the hard drive through the wireless connection on you iPad or tablet PC. Since it creates an ad-hoc network connection, it will prevent you from using the wireless connection for the internet at the same time. Therefore, after you purchase the drive, transfer the files, then you are all set. No additional cost.

Q: QuestionHow does my data transfer to the wireless external hard drive?Do I actually have to "send" my data to the wireless hard drive, or is it automatically backed up?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer To transfer the data to the Satellite drive, first connect the drive to the computer you wish to transfer the data from. Then you may copy the data by using our Media Sync utility that we offer on both PC and Macs that will assist in copying the media files to the drive. You may also copy the data manually to the drive if you wish without having to use our Sync utility.

Q: QuestionAppStore games and appsCan you copy and play games/apps purchased from AppStore or just media like movies and music?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer This is nothing more than a storage device, you would only be able to play games that give you the option of where they are reading the ness. information from, so that you can specify to read from this device, it will not act as a host device.

Q: QuestionCan I just copy my iTunes movie library to this drive? What about my DVD library?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You can copy any file type to this device, it is just an external hard drive, the playback of the file type is totally dependant on the file compatability of your individual device. The app involved with this device is only to connect to it, not for any playback function at all.
