Given the large storage capacity and required AC power source, this is best used as a tabletop hard drive for backing up RAW files or for consolidating/clearing memory cards. Nice slim design, with an SD card reader built in. However, I do wish the Seagate software was more feature-rich and intuitive.

I have it a start for the fact that it starts up and two for the software that comes with it. In concept, this is a great idea. The ability to plug things into the front and have it "automatically" back up other devices is great. In reality, I wasn't able to get it to finish a single backup so far! The drive is very fast for a few seconds, very few, and then it drops to 0 kbps and back to 1 kbps. I've tried it on the machines, going from internal hard drives and from USB drives plugged into other USB and the front of the hub directly. I am thinking this is a bum drive but have read of others having the same problems. I've spent a week trying to diagnose the problem, was on vacation for a week before that, so I don't know if I can get it replaced. Now I have days on it that I don't want out in the world either! I'm buying a WD black external and I'll see if I can copy my data of before going through the hastle of trying to get it replaced. I've been a Seagate guy since the early 90's but have had to many problems with them over the past few years and am finding it difficult to spend my hard-earned money on products that don't work out of the box.

I chose the Seagate One Touch Hub 8TB to use as a Time Machine back-up drive on my mac after two lower-priced 8TB drives from another vendor did not reformat. The 8 TB One Touch worked as it should right out of the box.
