Buying an induction cooktop.
What is an induction cooktop?
An induction cooktop doesn’t have a burner beneath the surface. Instead, it heats pots and pans directly by a transfer of electromagnetic energy. Using an electric induction cooktop is considered cutting edge because it cooks faster and responds quicker and more precisely when you turn down the temperature. On top of that, the best induction cooktop is designed to be 60 percent more efficient and up to 50 percent faster than a gas cooktop. It’s also safer because the surface of an induction cooktop doesn’t get hot, keeping the fingers of curious youngsters from getting burned. Additionally, most induction cooktops only work if there’s a pan in a cooking zone, so there’s less risk of danger if the heat is accidentally left on. Also, if all the water boils out of a pan on an induction burner, it will power down.
When you’re determining which is the best induction cooktop for you, consider the type you want. Do you want to pair it with a wall oven? An induction range might be a good fit because it offers an induction cooktop above an oven that broils and bakes the same as an electric oven. If you’re cooking in a smaller space and want an option that’s transportable, consider a plug-in portable induction cooktop, which is also called an induction hob. It can be a great option for an RV and, with it being portable, you can bring it to places like a friend’s house to bake holiday cookies. If you want a countertop cooktop, the most common width is 30 inches, though a 36-inch induction cooktop is also a popular choice. If you’re fitting it into a tighter space, you can get one as small as 24 inches.
Your induction cooktop: using, cleaning and installation.
The first thing you need to know about using your induction cooktop is that you have to use induction-safe cookware. You can test cookware with a magnet. If the magnet strongly sticks to the bottom of the pan, it should work. As for cleaning your induction cooktop, most models have flat surfaces and are designed to reduce or shut off heat when something boils over. This results in spills creating less of a mess and, thus, clean-up can be quick and easy.
As with other cooktops, installing an induction cooktop requires a dedicated electrical circuit that’s protected by amp breakers.
