Traditional home Wi-Fi systems pair a modem with a single router, connecting to the internet and creating a Wi-Fi network. However, sometimes that Wi-Fi signal does not reach parts of your property. In many cases, you will benefit from putting in a Wi-Fi extender. But if you're struggling with multiple dead or weak Wi-Fi spots in your network, mesh Wi-Fi is likely the better option.
How does mesh Wi-Fi work? A mesh wireless network broadcasts its Wi-Fi signal from multiple access points throughout your home. Simply plug your primary mesh router into the modem with an Ethernet cable. Then, place each of the additional routers in areas where they will pick up the main signal and rebroadcast it.
A strong mesh network is especially important if you want to create a smart home so that you can control devices using your smartphone or by voice command using a smart home voice assistant.
