We have been through many a hand blender and regular blender...Braun, Hamilton Beach, Ninja, Black and Decker. All have burned out just past the standard warranty. And not from abuse; it's not like we are chopping rocks, just ice for smoothies. I am rating it at 4 stars early on for a couple of reasons. It is powerful, quiet (or at least much quieter than the last 6 blenders we have had in the last 6-7 years), easy to clean, and love the wall mount that comes with it. I will have to update my review when we have hit the after warranty date to see if it lasts.
