5.1 without the extra wires or speakers

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Bass, For movies, Set upCons mentioned:PriceI had a fantastic home theater syste, moved and started over. I bought this sound bar to "simplify" and replace all of the wiring, receiver, subwoofer, tower speakers and atmos speakers. I expected a lot less from this one sound bar. But... I have to admit, it is almost as good as having all of the above equipment. Once set up in your home (simply done) is complete, the sound is incredible. The bass is plenty for watching movies, the atmos and rear projecting sounds are very good and the voices are clear. Overall - expensive as far as soundbars go but less than buying the home theater sound piecemeal. I tried Samsung and Yamaha and this soundbar is waaay better.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Ease of use, For movies, Set upI have been an audiophile for years. Have a system built around Magnepans. It begins to be a money pit. Especially with technology changing so rapidly. I bought the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar for a high end/simple setup in another theater room and it was the cheapest way to replicate being in a movie theater. Of course, I output to a REL subwoofer. But so nice to have all of this in 1 soundbar and no preamp/amp/receiver/7 speakers and a sub to deal with. Don't get me wrong, each end user has their preferences for Movies/TV/Music/Sports, but life is short. Hooking up the Sennheiser was easy. Calibration is amazing. And it took very little effort from me. The Ambeo even tells you to get out of the way during calibration. I would recommend getting a high end Blu-ray player that decodes Dolby Vision and Atmos. I bought 3 OLED TV's in 2018 and please don't get too in the weeds with the eARC vs. ARC debate. It sounds great on just ARC. Then on a high-end Blu-ray player that splits the audio/video, you will get amazing picture and sound on another source anyway. But all in all, above my expectations. Well done Sennheiser!

OMG Soundbar!

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Bass, Ease of use, Set upI have been looking for a soundbar for sometime to replace my receiver setup because of space constraints and heat production. I read tons of reviews on soundbars. Like most of them you take them at face value and make your own mind up. Well after reading quite a few on this soundbar I'd say their right on the money. I was highly resistant to this one because of the price, but I took the plunge and now don't regret it. This is an awesome piece of AV equipment sounds excellent and has some descent bass to it also. But like most of the reviews you would read about the bass, it's a personal preference on how much you want. Well I wanted more and paired it up with a REL HT/1205 Subwoofer that I already had and WOW, WOW. I'm extremely happy with my purchase despite it's hefty price tag. Very well built and the app is very easy to use for setup and soundbar settings. Only other area of concern was the height of the unit. I had to use a TV riser to raise my TV up 5" to clear the bottom of the TV.

From one audio enthusiast, this is a must have!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Set up, Sound qualityCons mentioned:Price, SoftwareI have a Nagra classic stereo in dual mono, Feickert turntable, Nordost power for my main stereo. My stereo is phenomenal, however, it cost upwards of 200k! That is my perspective on audio... My Prior soundbars have included: Martin Logan Sony HTS5000 The Martin Logan sounded pretty good and the mounting bracket is awesome. The Sony sounded better, although the mounting option - or lack thereof - on the Sony is SUPER disappointing. The Ambeo, at nearly twice the price, offers IMO, nearly twice the value. The HTS5000 would occasionally completely lock up my TV - CEC became unresponsive. Ambeo does not do this. I will start with the complaints. The only gripe I have about the Ambeo bar is that it CANNOT be set up for wireless networking without using either WPS or the Google Home App. I use Eero products, which rightfully do not implement WPS, and Google Home is a privacy and security trainwreck of epic proportions. What is worse, once I finally was able to get through the setup of Google Home, the Sennheiser application still asked me for my wireless password and wireless network, after I agreed to give my first and second born to Google. That part was a joke, and after that process, I was about ready to stuff the soundbar back in the box and ship it back to best buy. Now the good stuff: The setup process is extremely straightforward. After installing the Sennheiser software via the app-store on your phone, wait 5 minutes for a firmware update to complete. Plug in a mic (that looks like an antenna) to collect information about room acoustics, and wait 5 minutes. Then, enjoy the movies! The remote is golden. Why can't everyone make remotes like this... The original presentation didn't sound particularly compelling. Sennheiser detects when you're TV is using PCM mode - and asked me to reconfigure my TV (Samsung 2018 QN9F with only ARC, not eARC) to "Auto". My TV has no "Auto" - so I set to bitstream. I also set the output to "Dolby Digital Plus". Then the magic happened. The Ambeo mode on/off is fairly impressive for a DSP. Having been an audio nerd for 20+ years, I've yet to see any DSP implementation that didn't cause listening fatigue - until now. I wouldn't replace your hi-fi set up in your listening room with this soundbar, but for a TV, well worth the money. As an engineer, I find the software appears well-implemented and works well. The out of box experience is impressive - 10 minutes from zero to hero is a good win. The Google home, again, needs to go. The Ambeo has lip-syncing issues, although has an anti-FU device built into the software to fix lip-sync issues. I found the range - 1-100ms to be a little short of what some customers may want, although. I found about 35msec to be ideal. It took me more time to sort ou the lip-sync timing than to setup the rest of the device. I am now wishing I had an eARC TV to take full advantage of the Ambeo. eARC is lossless, and additionally, ARC has limited bandwidth for multiple channels. I'd really like to see what Ambeo can do with an eARC connection. I think the price - $2500 - for a soundbar is expensive - although I'd rather pay for German engineered top quality. For those on a budget, the difference between the HTS5000 and this soundbar is a no-brainer. Go Ambeo! (And I prefer Japenese audio electronics to german electronics). This soundbar is limited to 30hz. A subwoofer (REL is the brand I am hooking up shortly) would be a natural pairing - and can be had direct for reasonable pricing. I hope the review helps you make an informed decision. I would also encourage you to read the published online manual before making any purchase.

Hands down the best soundbar!!!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Worked some overtime to get this and I am just thrilled. It is very high quality, Dolby Atoms is great. Soundbar is very large and very well made. I dare say it is loud and proud. I most certainly will be getting another one for my den, might as well rock hard while working from home. I know some will add a subwoofer to this, I would recommend a REL HT 1205 or my personal favorite the SVS 3000. Adding a high end sub will make the neighbors want to move!!!

Mix feeling compared to bose700 setup
|Posted .Features
Quality3 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use2 out of 5Bought this for second room, already have bose soundbar 700 plus 2 sub and 2 old version surround rears. With room size 15x30 ambeo is not performing well at all. ambeo 3d sound is limited to 15x12 feet of the room, week rumble, felt music is good though but not that impressive. Somehow its not working for me..... will try for few more weeks ... Also the boot time, Bluetooth connections & limited remote functions feel lagging behind bose700. Bose is not dolby atmos but it can play dolby atmos content very very impressively...not sure how they do the 3d sound.

Q: QuestionHow does this system perform verses the Nakamichi 9.2.4 system.? I don't want to make the wrong decision. Thank You'
Asked by BUCKEYE.
- A:Answer I had the smaller naki system for a few weeks but was not impressed with it. Had the Bose 700 whole setup for a while. Bose was great except for the popping noise I kept getting from the sub. Then I took the plunge for the sennheiser. This thing is amazing. Blows those two out of the water.

Q: Questionhow is the bass on the soundbar alone, no sub? does it hold it's own or is best paired with a sub?
Asked by orangatang.
- A:Answer I have had the soundbar for almost a year. I do NOT believe a sub is needed. If you are using it to play music only then maybe a subwoofer could add more punch but for watching movies, it is not required. Bass is tight and crisp.

Q: QuestionWhat is the letency when sourcing audio from the TV? I'd like to watch Netflix using the TV, but only if this can match the audio with the video. Thanks.
Asked by Nickvdm.
- A:Answer The latest Firmware update for the AMBEO has resolved any initial issues with syncing between audio and video. Can be installed via wireless internet connection and APP or USB via downloads tab on the Sennheiser AMBEO webpage.

Q: QuestionIs the eArc 4k pass through 120Hz?
Asked by Nickvdm.
- A:Answer the eARC is HDMI 2.1 (48 Gb/s for 4k 120 HZ capable) but the issue is the inputs into the AMBEO are HDMI 2.0a. These have a bandwidth of 18 Gb/s that only supports 4k @ 60 so a TV with built in HDMI 2.1 ports would be a better place to connect devices. Newer TV's have begun integrating HDMI 2.1 into their specs that are capable of 4k @ 120 (check specs before purchasing). With newer consoles (PS5/X Box Series X) or PC it would be better to be hooked up directly to TV with 2.1 ports and utilizing the eARC to transfer sound to the AMBEO.

Q: QuestionThe soundbar is prompting to authenticate every time by press the two buttons on the soundbar to connect to the Smart Control App. This is unusual way of connecting with mobile devices. How do I get it connected automatically?
Asked by HTH.
- A:Answer That is odd. I have only had to authenticate once during initial setup. Try unplugging the sound bar for about a minute then plugging it back in and see if it still does it. If so, then run setup on the sound bar again. If it keeps happening get ahold of tech support.

Q: QuestionSo I'm guessing this soundbar will not work if I have my room treated and the room has minimum reflections?
Asked by Krazyd.
- A:Answer If this is for the AMBEO, it will not have as dramatic an improvement, its still a great soundbar with its accoustical correctsion and great drivers!
