Shameless: The Complete Third Season [5 Discs] [Blu-ray/DVD]

This series lives up to it's name every week/episode. I can't really pigeonhole it by calling it a comedy - although it is as outrageous as anything I've ever seen on TV - basic broadcast or cable. The humor is black - but hysterical. As disfunctional a family as you will ever see. They love each other and hate each other in equal parts - deppends on the day of the week and the time of day. Emmy Rossum - the oldest of the siblings - and for a while - the glue that held them together - has come off the rails. William H. Macy - who will not win Father of the Year in any universe known to man - is in it to win it - for himself - no matter the cost or the trail of tears left in his wake. He's a pip. An acting tour de force. The entire cast - from the youngest of the clan to the friends and neighbors - is spot on. A wonderful ensemble. The writers have a field day painting them all into corners and then letting them out before painting them back in. It's s roller coaster ride - and well worth the taking.

Storylines are even deeper as we now know the Gallagher family so well after spending two seasons with them. Macy and Rossum are two of the most under-appreciated actors on the small screen today and the show flies under the radar, except to critics, who adore it, and for good reason. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, you'll cry, but you'll know you've seen something highly worthy of your time. It can be difficult to watch, because some of these people are pathetic human beings, but it's SO well done and so well written. Don't miss it.

William H Macy is great as a character you will love to hate. The Gallagher family is great to watch as group of siblings that will do anything for each other to survive. Due to an absentee father with a hell of a drinking problem the family has had to survive by any means necessary. Sometimes breaking the law is the only way to survive.
