Fine picture and good value for price
Posted .A good TV for the price, but there are a couple sacrifices to be made for that price. It has a fine picture and an easy user interface via the remote. I was in search of a 32" or smaller set that wasn't smart, because I was going to hook an Apple TV to it anyway. There aren't very many that are 1080i in this smaller range, and none that are 120Hz, including this one, if you don't also want a smart TV (if so, there's a Vizio at BestBuy right now for $100 more). Cons (1): Location of the jacks. See my photo. They're all vertical, making attaching a coax cable far more cumbersome than necessary. One coax cable with a rather large screw-on cover wouldn't fit at all, whereas it would have been no problem with a normal, horizontally mounted jack. The HDMI jacks are on the side, meaning you're likely to see the cable protrude. (2) There's no mechanical on/off switch. Don't lose the remote! If these are the sorts of things that bother you, you might look for a more expensive set. If you want a good picture for a lower price, you can safely buy this one, at least from my two weeks' of experience with it.

Excellent picture for a great price
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendTo preface: I bought this for television for our bedroom (to upgrade from a 19" I could barely see with my contacts in, let alone without them). It was going in the corner, so I knew that the depth of the television wasn't overly important (spending extra on a ~2" deep TV would not be worth it, since you'd rarely see that thinness without going out of your way), but the design of the television, as well as the thickness of the bezel was more important, as well as picture quality, etc. This TV was still listed as "New" when I purchased it, so there wasn't much about it, but as it was a Sharp, I felt I wouldn't be disappointed. Despite being a direct-lit LED TV (which usually are about 3-3.5" deep), this TV is only 2.5" deep. So while it is not razor thin - it is also not a big thick thing either. The design from the front is attractive, with a piano black finish to all surfaces (except the speaker grilles), which, when clean, looks fantastic. The bezel around the screen is also quite minimal compared to some other 32" TVs at this price range. Plugging the TV in and after running the channel program, it's evident that with how the television signals are transmitted, the SD doesn't fill the whole screen (vertically), and doesn't look overly good - something that is generally true with any new TV on an SD source. Digital (HD) channels, however, look fantastic. I'm sure this TV would display a great picture when connected to a high definition source (such as a Blu-Ray player, or the like). The sound is something else that is out of the ordinary for a TV of this price - or in general with newer televisions. Most new TVs do not focus much on the speakers in an effort to make things as small/thin as possible, and usually have back or down-firing speakers that don't sound overly good, and usually don't have much volume. This TV is an oddball, because it has a LOT of sound volume, and decent sound quality. Quite impressive from such a small front speaker area, too. All in all, this TV is an incredible value. It has 1080p at the price point other TVs have 720p (not that it much matters at anything below 50" - it still adds to the value), great picture quality, relatively slim depth-wise, especially for a non-edge-lit LED, attractive and slim frontal design. The only thing it doesn't have is any internet features, but other sets at this price don't either, so that is by no means a dealbreaker. The only downside is the glossy finish attracts dust and fingerprints - but if you keep it clean, it will keep on looking good. I'd buy it again, that's for certain.

High quality basic TV
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendHigh quality IPS screen with light antiglare coating. Direct-lit LED backlight is a bit dim at the corners, which is really only noticable if you use it as a computer monitor. Two HDMI jacks are enough for me. There is no DVI input; you must use an HDMI adapter for that. Other than that there are plenty of connectivity options. Built-in speakers are surprisingly good. This is not a smart TV. For the privacy-conscious that's a plus, but the USB jack is only for firmware updates and JPG slideshows. My main complaint is that the coax input doesn't have enough clearance for a thick cable. I'd buy this again. This model is only available from Best Buy.

once working, this tv/monitor is great
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this tv to use primarily as a computer monitor to do internet stuff and work stuff with. I don't even have the cable hooked up to it. I will put in a blu ray player and watch discs. DVDs look fine. Ordered online from BestBuy.com, picked it up at the store an hour later. Brand new, sealed in the box. 2 issues after connecting the monitor to the PC with HDMI. The video looked grainy, images didn't look real, the windows desktop stretched beyond the monitor so icons were half visible and the task bar at the bottom was half visible. Called Sharp customer support and the 1st person said to mess with the resolution which got the display correct but the quality was still lacking and I was below 1080p. The 2nd person had me change the video cable to VGA and it worked. Windows fits on the monitor and the videos look great. I cannot read text any longer on a 22 inch monitor without glasses but this screen is large enough for me to read without glasses. This was my goal. The videos look great. MS Word has plenty of landscape to use. 2 windows open side by side is much better now. At least for now, I am very happy. I may play around with hdmi and see if I can get it working better, but VGA @1920x1200 works great. I have found the TVs are obviously made for watching video and if they work great with the PC, I think the TVs are better than the monitors. Calibration experts may find flaws in colors and so on (maybe not), but to my eye and for the value, this is a great TV. Finally 1080p TVs in smaller sizes are hard to find. This Sharp is available at Best Buy for a great price. I got it on sale and bought the 5 year warranty so this thing is going to get a lot of use. 1 note, it says it has DVI. It does not. It has DVI when you take a HDMI cable and buy a HDMI-DVI adapter to plug into the computer. It does not have an on-board DVI connector. VGA or HDMI from the computer unless you use the DVI-HDMI adapter.

Great for the price
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased this TV to replace a TV that burned out due to a power problem in my home. This is not our primary TV. It is our second TV and is used in the bedroom to watch movies at night, or the news in the morning. The picture is clear and the sound is good. It does exactly what I need it to do as a second TV. I would buy this brand again.

Overall good extra tv
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a second tv so not used much. So far have no complaints except the area where have to plug in the cable cord is a bit of a tight squeeze. Also I noticed that the sound is somewhat "tinny" but may be because I'm comparing it to the tv in the living room. Also haven't tried any adjustments. Overall satisfied with purchase. I bought because of brand and of sale price.

Works great as 1080p computer monitor
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI wanted a cheap 1080p monitor for gaming and this works perfectly. Previous reviews didn't make it clear if it would work for this purpose, so here's how to set it up as a monitor (using HDMI for most newer computers, or DVI-to-HDMI for slightly older ones): make sure your computer's screen resolution setting is set to 1080p (1920x1080, 60Hz non-interlaced/progressive); also make sure any overscan/scaling is disabled on the computer (depending on your particular graphics hardware and drivers; set TV View Mode to "Normal"; in TV's "Advanced" settings set "Overscan" to "off"; set "Active backlight" and "Active contrast" to "off" (optional); set "Sharpness" to "0". Adjust other controls to your liking. I'm using a GeForce GTX 650 graphics card with Windows 7 64-bit. I verified I'm getting a perfect 1:1 pixel mapping with no filtering (sharpness setting) by using Paint to display a 1920x1080 black/white bitmap with a single-pixel "checkerboard" pattern fill. YMMV, but for me it's worked out great.

A no frills HD TV at a good price.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOverall I have been impressed with the picture quality for a TV at this price point. The unit is not a "Smart TV", but that is ok. I have paired it with a Chromecast and gain lots of "Smart TV" functionality without the added cost. The only real disappointment with the set is the sound quality. The speakers lack any real range or volume. This can easily be remedied with a sound bar. This would make a great bedroom TV, but the lack of good sound should eliminate it from consideration for a main TV for a living room. Depending on how many things you need to hook up, keep in mind there are only two HDMI ports.
Q: QuestionCan the Auto-Off feature be disabled?I use this tv as a computer monitor, and when the computer goes to sleep the tv turns itself off. I cannot find any power settings in the menu to disable this feature.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer There should be an option in the settings for it, however, have you checked the settings on your computer? There is usually a setting on the computer that says when computer is asleep put monitor to sleep or something along those lines.

Q: Questionwhat is the wattage and out put of speakers
Asked by lrbing.
- A:Answer 10 watts. But understand this isn't a Sharp TV. The quality of the panel is inferior to a Sharp Aquos in every way, including the quality of the sound. BB licensed the Sharp brand and put it on some OEM's worse product. BB lists another, newer, panel that claims to be a Sharp product. We'll see. If you need *loud* you should be sending the sound out to an external amplifier/speaker anyway.

Q: QuestionDoes it have a functional tuner? Is it capable of picking up channels on its own? I dont cable and have not been able to pick up any channels.
Asked by chikalin.
- A:Answer It does! All TVs sold within the United States as of 2007 have been required to include built-in ATSC (digital tuners), capable of receiving over-the-air analog and digital broadcasts. You may, however, need to manually program OTA channels as not all are detected by automatic channels searches.
